Love how the parents weren't just happy for him, his dad knew that he beat the previous record by 11 seconds. That's an awesome dad, and great parents in general
I love that this video includes enough context to understand why the runs are special and how both the timeloss and timesaves work. It has the perfect balance of enough info and not being condesending, for lack of a better word, and assuming the viewers have never heard of a speedrun before. Well done breezyscape!
Literally started crying from Simply's parent's being cool with him getting WR. There are so many people that just don't /get/ this passion of speedruns so just to see the people closest to ya warms my heart man. Bless
you should make a counterpart to this- something like speedruns that were going perfectly and lost at the last second- that would be really interesting to see, and I love this video type!
These are so cool to watch, not because some are wrs but because how do these even happen lol, they're behind their pb by like 15 seconds and still beat it somehow, I would be the type of guy to just reset the run 5 seconds behind. Oh, and some of the reactions are great too.
OMG Simply's WR was so wholesome. It's the first time I've ever seen family members give a fuck about speedrunning personally (I am a casual spectator of it). :')
It's such a heart warming thing to see his family so happy for the guy. People who don't game usually don't get why its such a big deal but skill is skill. These guys put in serious work to achieve these records.
To me, it isn't that Simply's parents celebrated with him, it's that the father knew the range of HOW MUCH he has saved achieving the record! Not only they are supporting of him, they actually know and care!
I thank you sooooo much for commentating. I have no clue about all these games. You could've just put the game clips in the video and be done but you put in the extra effort to let everyone understand what is happening in seconds. Commentary shouldn't be taken as granted.
Comebacks in a casual race or something: He died to the boss, but managed to do it perfectly on the second try! Comebacks in Speedrunning: He hesitated on the input and lost .02 seconds, but shaved off a full .05 seconds in the next part!
Simlys WR record is the most wholesome thing I've seen in a looooooong time. So nice. My heart can't take it. Edit: One question: Why isn't he wearing a shirt?
That Mario 64 120 Stars world record guys has such great and supportive parents. That is like the most wholesome thing I’ve ever seen when it comes to soeedrunning
I used to speedrun Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon and about a year or two ago, the world record run on any% was about a minute ahead at E-3, then went down to +2 minutes after E-4, then got brought back to be WR in the final 3 splits of the game, being E-5, E-B and King Boo. If you make a part 2 to this, that’s a good one to include. I don’t remember the runner sadly
I didn't even realize I just watched an almost 33 minute video. Top notch quality when it just flies by like that. I didn't even mind the AFK Arena ad either.
Please do more of these! I saw a channel USED to do speedrun saves and now these days, I usually ONLY see speedrun fails. Fails can be funny, but definitely stressing lol. These saves are endearing and cool and anyone knows what a good save feels like :D Great video!

Wait,i'm confused. On that GTA section i've rewatched it a few times, what exactly is the comeback? EZScape doesn't actually say that he messed up or lost time at all in that section, he just explains some glitches and then the guy pulls them all off perfectly.
Yeah so I relistened a couple times and I don't think he did anything particularly bad, I just think he was trying to get to a time no one else had gotten to or maybe he could never get to so he went for a risky strat not sure tho
I mean it's the same for the SM64 one. He misses one red coin but that's not a comeback? It's a good run and an adorable ending. But like it wasn't even a comeback.
The comeback is because I was going for a 53 minute time, but the early&mid game had gone so poorly that a 53 wasn't "possible" and I could only get a 54:00 as my best time. However I managed to have the best end game of my life and clutch it anyway.
I haven't watched video yet, but i remember that Illumina got a Minecraft 1.14 WR speedrun in which he died TWICE. Died twice in a WR run. Obviously he was able to get faster times not long after but still. Twice.
this shows that you shouldnt reset every run that may be +10 or +20 out of mid game because you never know what golds you could end up getting in late game
Great video! Thanks for uploading! Come backs can be fun, even if they are mostly just having better skill/luck than your previous self or someone else on the leaderboard. Still, I think I might dare say I enjoy hearing about the innovation & creation of new routes, techniques, etc.
I thought you sounded very similar to bescape, because i have watched the speedrun war video countless times, and then it turns out to be you lmao. Your videoes are very high effort and you explain everything very good in a way so everyone can understand. I appreciate that :)
I have one. MisterFour is a paper mario 64 speedrunner and they were grinding pretty much daily for wr in glitchless oc, and in one run in chapter 3 they straight up forgot the boo portrait and skipped it, and ended up losing 20 seconds in the run. That ended up being wr
