      Luxury buildings usually have 100% backup power, not so luxury ones have backup for the common areas. So elevators & hallway lights theoretical shouldn't ever die.
      As for fire, the fire exits usually provide isolation between floors & between the landing & the stairs. Sprinklers & fire extinguishers should do the job on the affected floor - unless a plane crashes into the building, or a bomb goes off that affects the integrity of the doors/walls that isolate each floor.
      Firetrucks in cities have extra long ladders. But I don't think they reach the 30th. This is why it's important to have a guarantee that the fire exit/escape stairs are properly isolated.

If you have that kind of $$, you can certainly afford a limo and a chauffer, no? It will be a place that I'd never even visit, much less own, but WOW! I just love looking at places like that, and tbh, I think this is, to me, the nicest million(s) dollar place you've shown, that I've seen. Just those walls done with "pillowed maple", which I've never heard of before, really gave it not only a very rich feel, but it seemed warm, inviting and comfortable, too. All those windows, all those heating/air conditioning boxes under the windows. And the onyx (stone) in that one shower was so gorgeous!! I was really overwhelmed by the place. I'm sure someone with architecture or design experience would be able to come up with things that weren't great about it, but the only think that comes to my mind is I would never want to get too close to the railings on the terraces! I will never understand how a person could spend that much on an apartment or a condo.
    If the apartment below catches fire, has bugs or has a loud party, you're going to have to deal with all that.
    I'd rather live in a $500k house in Illinois or somewhere and be separate from the bs than pay the cost of a small island to deal with similar issues I have now.
    Heck. Take that money and go to somewhere nice in upstate NY. Still pay less. Get peace and quiet and you walk outside and not deal with rats(human and non human varieties).
    Nope. Not hating. Not at all. 😊

    • @annieway35
      @annieway35 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Well, if you're buying a 16 million dollar apartment, your neighbors are not the loud party or bug type of people. The entire building is luxury, so mostly likely the other apartments in the millions also. I'm an urban person and lived in a city most of my life, in apartments and condos and have never really experienced crappy loud neighbors. But I also probably pay too much in housing to avoid those types of people.
      I grew up in a rural town on a barely paved road with cows in my front yard. I hated every minute of it and couldn't wait to move to the city. Been in the city for 30 years now and still absolutely love the vibe.

    This place is nice! Outdoor space is a huge luxury for NYC. I looked at a lot of listings during lockdown and noticed that places with balconies were consistently priced higher. I like that you have a great view of the park, but you’re far away enough that you won’t fight tourists to get inside your building. Soundproofing is always a plus. The wood warms up the space so it doesn’t look like an empty refrigerator. My only drawback is that I wouldn’t want to deal with the stairs every day.
