I had a 2017 Roadglide. In the first 1000 miles, the wiring harness shorted out, the throttle by wire went out in rush hour traffic, and the oil system exploded and threw a piston. Needless to say, it went away as a Lemon. I replaced it with a more dependable bike.
Says who? I have owned 4 different Harleys and not one of them have been in the shop due to breaking down. I know guys who have put hundreds of thousands of miles on their bikes without any major issues.
35,000 plus the upgrades. Probably another 5-15,000 dollars. I’ve been riding for just over 30yrs. Everyone has there own preferences but this is crazy to me. But do what makes u happy. Enjoy life while u can.🙏🏽
Either the slave cylinder lever/plunger isn't throwing deep enough OR the clutch disc's are two thick and can't separate away from each other..... pretty simple.... The"lerching" tells you that the clutch plates aren't separating enough to disengage the motor from the the trans gears..... Barnet clutches are made to "clamp" together, pretty hard....
Exactly, and after multiple years, money and mechanics, I gave up. I picked up a 2006 RK with a cable clutch. Only thing I miss is having a nice fairing.
Ride to drink, drink to ride.l would never pay such a humongous price for a motorcycle. I love my Sportster. Cheap and reliable and dependable transportation.
This should help me explain better…”In October 2018, Harley-Davidson recalled 238,300 motorcycles, including the 2018 115th Anniversary Street Glide, due to a potential clutch failure issue. The recall affected all 2017 and 2018 touring and trike models, as well as some 2017 Softails. The issue was caused by an internal leak in the hydraulic clutch system's secondary clutch actuator, which could expose the hydraulic clutch circuit to air and prevent the clutch from disengaging.”
🌿 HARLEY'S THROUGHOUT THE YEARS HAVE NOT BEEN KNOWN FOR DEPENDABILITY YOU ARE AMAZINGLY HONEST MOST PEOPLE ON TH-cam WILL NOT TELL YOU ABOUT ALL THE MONEY THEY HAVE TO SPEND TO KEEP THEIR HARDLY RUNNING ♥️ LOVE FROM MISSISSIPPI USA 🇺🇲
I have a Honda VTX 1300 and have gone over 100,000 miles without any problems at all with the engine or transmission. Perfect dependability. I bought the bike brand new on sale for 7,500 dollars. I could probably only sell the bike now for about 3,000 dollars so it's true that the resell value maybe isn't that good... but think about it.... Go 100,000 trouble free miles for 4,500 dollars. That's pretty good. Yeah Honda.
Its a good thing that you cannot put it in neutral at the red light, should always be ready to move in case that car behind you is on the phone and cannot stop. Off set and be ready to move is the real recommended technique for red lights. So many riders have been rear ended by not being in the right spot and ready to react. Reevaluate your riding please to stay alive. Drinking and riding and having no clue what the right moves to do to save your life can also be real dangerous for those that ride with you. OK, preaching over, nice bike and good luck. Be safe, have fun.
Yes and no. What I didn’t say was the safety switch had to be replaced as well. So when it was not working, the bike would not start in gear at all, It was always something with this bike. That assembly was about $400 plus labor.
I also owned a 2018 Street Glide and had the slave cylinder recall repair done, no problems. After watching this video I can confidently say most of the grief was self-inflicted. Drinking and riding? Dumbass move.
LOL! Your T-Shirt speaks volumes! Yeah! I've heard Harley is channeling the quality of the AMC years. I love Bikes, but the $40K+ you have in the Bike still buys a decent cage.
Sell outright private as you maybe quite disappointed with offer from Harley, you have a beautiful bike and I hope offer is a fair no low ball offer, Wishing you the best with getting a reasonable offer. H
Funny, I've left my Sport Glide M8 107 stock. No problems. But true, a 3 hole oil change every 5000 miles is $550. Outrageous price on tires too. HD service is a rip off.
It is so frustrating when we are told what is wrong with our bikes is because our "balls" are on our chest. We know our bikes. I have a 21 RGS with the cabled clutch. The piece to adjust clutch is plastic and breaks easily. The replacement part is metal and only $50, well worth changing before it breaks. Good luck with future endeavors.
This is so sad! another satisfied customer I feel for you because I bought a beautiful 2020 limited in Stiletto Red and I wish it was cable. I have a old Street Glide and a softail with cable clutch and just can't get use to it but thats another story! haven't been able to ride in 5 months since a siezur. Hopefuly you got rid of that bike and got another one.
That’s either bad parts, or bad installation. It’s almost not rideable like that, it’s not fully disengaging. It sounds like a slave cylinder pushrod problem.
you better find yourself a better mechanic before your new bike gets F'ed up. the adjustment you can't do on a hydraulic clutch is the position of the friction zone but there are solutions for that sold. your lurch is either in the clutch not fully disengaged (as others have said) or in the trans.
Never understood why Harley hosts bike events and serve alcohol...... Drinking may have caused the spill... In addition....never steer with your hips...that's ridiculous... Slow speed...try Rear brake and clutch modulation Above 10 mph .....counter steer
Yes the shift linkage was changed when I had the new floorboards put on. Later on the shifter shaft lever and spline is what I replaced myself when it gave out. These were done before the clutch.

Get a lighter (cheaper) bike that you can handle effortlessly. Your skills will improve and you will realize how much more fun it is to ride around town etc. Screw the Harley image and ignore anyone who refers to any motorcycle as a "girls" bike. Why everyone thinks they need a $35k tank I will never know. Drinking and motorcycles are a good way to end up in ICU. You dodged a bullet as I am sure you are aware.
Thanks for sharing your experience! Good luck on your next bike!

Harley is one of the highest costs of ownership bikes. 35,000 good grief

@@jgrivers64the purchase price alone puts it in the top 3

Yep $35k and still the best resale motorcycle of all time
@@starrider1900 How about buying a bike to not resell. Like my BMW R1250 GS. I doubt I will ever sell it. Superior to the HD in every single way.

I’d be sacking the camera operator. Looking at the filing cabinet whilst you’re talking is 💤
Needs to be adjusted right,it's not disengaging completely

Its that main spring in the clutch assembly. Mine does the same but not as bad. Take your bike to a guy that races harleys, he can fix it
Question, did you get the ESP?

Master and slave cyl aren't bled properly, or wrong fluid. Techs these days are not qualified in my experience. That's why I do my own work

Most bikes don’t have the issues I had, but Harley did go back to a cable clutch for a reason. I’m glad yours is solid.

Yeah, it was better to let someone else give it a shot. I sold it.

Looks like they sold you a lemon
Why did you even change to a barnett clutch system are you planning on racing the bike. Should of left the stock clutch system

😂 sissy is a hairdresser…
And this is why I ride a Yamaha

What a mess....the entire video was a mess...
That is why they went back to a cable clutch.
The bike I would consider is the Honda gold wing, that bike will last over 800,000 miles. I ain't wasting my money on a pile of Harley Davidson shit.
I'd take it somewhere else to work on it...
First mistake was buyin a Harley
Why would you drink and ride a Harley.
For real! Very Bad idea.
You my need a new camera person 😂
Your clutch needs adjustment seems like it grabs to much lol
Correct ✅
take your bikes weight , subtract 200 pounds . buy any motorcycle at THAT weight. be safe
