What a sweet little boy! He’s having so much fun! The makes this week are lovely, I especially love that embroidery on the blue chambray. It will make a stunning dress for you to wear in Florida. He is adorable and I know I would say that 😁. He is at such a lovely age and fabulous company, he reminds me so much of my son who is now 31 🥰. I am scared to cut into that embroidered fabric but it's also too lovely to be stashed away without wearing! Sorry you can't be there in Florida, having animals is definitely a tie. I think the two materials for your colour blocking will look lovely together. The crabbing looks like so much fun, we aren’t near the sea where I live so my grandkids have never done that. The pictures as always are beautiful. You have a great eye for framing the scenes before you take them. Happy Birthday to your husband 🎉😊

How exciting, a baby girl. So much fun to sew for. I’m visiting my new granddaughter this week for the first time. She lives on the other side of the country from me so it has been so fun to hold her and see her in person. I now have four granddaughters and one grandson. I sew for all of them. Although I’ve been trying to sew a bit more for me this year. Thanks for sharing all your pretty fabrics and new makes.
Thanks Carol. It will be nice to branch out from dungarees, t shirts and dinosaurs! Oh I'm so excited for you that you got to meet your grand daughter. All your grandchildren must keep you busy! I so love making little things. For the boys I did so much crochet for when they were babies but luckily I haven't been asked for that this time. I'm going to try more sewing projects instead 😊. Carole love the blue tee that you made your husband and I can understand why you are jealous, it’s a great colour for you 😊 I love it with your contrast material and think if you have enough material a raglan sleeve top would look great with the floral for the body and the blue for the sleeves and neck band. It would look like a cool feminine baseball tee, I have something similar in my off the shelf wardrobe and love it so will recreate it one day in something like the two materials you have 😊
Hi there, oh I do hope you have enough fabric as yes that could look really good and I’m a real fan of Raglan sleeves. I did make something similar a couple of years ago. Keep fingers crossed for me. Hope you have a good weekend and thanks for watching ☀️😊

Ha ha Jen, isn't that fabric the best and I found it at the back of my stash! I can't believe I forgot about it?! I am so excited to make for the little girl, the only trouble is Sophie had a severe aversion to flowers, I mean it seriously. She can't be near real ones or anything flowery so the clothes can't be floral and that's going to be hard!! I have told Chris you are going to deal with him if he carries out your threat 🤣. I would love to order some more of the blue but I haven't a clue where I got it from, typical me🙄😆. Absolutely everyone has said yes to the colour blocking so that's my challenge for the week! 4 weeks to go until you can hug me 🤣💗🥰xx
Color block the two fabrics!!!!!! Gorgeous pairing! Love your pink-striped fabric for a t-shirt. Will look wonderful on you! Thank you for your review on NL 6730. For some odd reason, I only like v-neck t-shirts that are long sleeved. Go figure! Perhaps subconsciously they look like hospital scrubs to me, too. Can't wait to see your NL6095 shift dress. I have that same pattern, but not used it yet. Still losing weight - it will be next year before that happens. Eventually, I have A LOT of sewing plans in my future once I lose all the weight I want to lose. Really, really enjoying your channel and look forward to the #FridaySews videos. Keep making your very enjoyable videos and will look forward to your husband's fashion show (but not in the boxer shorts!). 😀
Yes Dori I'm going to have to as everyone seems to like that combo! I don't wear V neck that often but I don't know why. As I have a very lined and scraggy neck I should because it draws the eyes away 🤣. Maybe you are right on the short sleeve making it 'scrub like'. I'm interested to see that 6095 made up as I've had it for years but because it was for wovens not used it. Who's brave enough to ask my hubby for a fashion show?! It maybe stills only as I can't see him twirling for you all 😂🕺🏻. I do wish you well on your weight loss journey but I hope you still sew for yourself meanwhile? It seems we are all saying the same, we want to be left alone when fabric shopping 🤣. I can’t wait to try and mix those two fabrics together, wish me luck for having enough. Ha ha oh Michelle, I told my hubby today that he needs to do a fashion show next week and he said he would as long as I hadn't made him anymore underwear 🤣😂 🕺🏻 Seriously I wouldn't do that to my viewers, I don't want to lose any 😱🤣. I am going to have serious FOCO (fear of cutting out) with that embroidery chambray, I can feel it ✂️😳. Lovely time with your grandson. When we visited Devon, we were introduced to Cream Tea. My goodness! Clotted cream! Never had it before but we had quite a few teas as well Cornwall ice cream. Added a few kilos but it was worth it.
Hi Diane, clotted cream really is the most devilish thing invented! So glorious and yet so bad for you 😂. Sadly we didn't get chance for one in the end but I will make up for it I am sure in the next week or two. I do have such fun with my grandson as he is just at such a wonderful age, I am sure that won't last too much longer. Hope you are well and thanks so much for watching 😊🧵

Hi Carole, it’s lovely to hear you talk about places in Dorset. It brings back so many memories for me. We lived in the Wimborne area when we were first married in the late sixties. It’s a beautiful area of the country. Now we’re on the other side of the world. Happy sewing.🧵🪡🇦🇺
Hi Letitia, I know Wimborne very well as my daughter went to school there. Whereabouts are you now? You are right, it is a beautiful part of the country and we moved here 23 years ago, we wouldn't want to live anywhere else now. Thanks for watching 🌸😊
Hi Carole, I live in Perth Western Australia and have done for many years. From memory where we used to live in Dorset was called Stapehill Gardens. It’s on the road between Ferndown and Wimborne. It was our first home, a little semidetached bungalow and we loved it. We moved back to Scotland (yes we’re Scottish) for my husband’s career, not a good move - too much rain after the beautiful weather in Dorset. After a few years we emigrated to Aus. We do visit UK from time to time but unfortunately Covid put a stop to that for a while. We’re hoping to visit Scotland and Northern Ireland later in the year to catch up with family and friends. Keep sewing I do enjoy watching your vlog.🧵🪡🇦🇺
@@letitiathomson914 I know that area very well as it is only 9 miles from where I live and my hairdresser is in Ferndown! What a contrast it must have been then moving to Scotland and then emigrating to Australia wow! I am very glad you remember Dorset fondly though, we certainly love it. We were both born in Bristol, then had a few years in the Midlands then settled here 23 years ago and haven't budged since then. What a wonderful world TH-cam is for connecting people across the world 😊. X

I love bright fabrics on other people, but I usually go for more subdued colors. Although, I recently went all out and got really bright liberty lawn that I love ❤️

Hi Babs, that wonderful dog hanger is what the lovely Adam made for me for Christmas. Isn't it great and it looks so much like Mickey 🥰. I will say I really don't have much fabric, well not as much of some of the other youtubers and I sew a lot so yes, I need to shop!! I love the color of the teal tshirt. I think it looks nice and bright on you. If you’re feeling ambitious about changing where the shoulder seam hits, that would be a fairly easy fix. In the past, I have had to remove stitches about halfway on either side of shoulder seams, redrawn and stitched new seams. Not too bad. I think the tshirt is worth saving, and I don’t think it looks like a scrub uniform. Also, I think the color block idea with those fabrics is a brilliant idea and the colors are beautiful. Something like Simplicity 1072 raglan top with unique side insets could be a winner! Best wishes! 😊
Hi Rhonda. Thanks for the tips on altering the sleeves. I hadn't thought of redrafting the shoulder seams and that could help. I will definitely wear that V neck T-shirt I'm just not in love with it. I was never sure of that fabric in the first place. Gosh I have never seen 1072 so I had a look on google, wow isn't that a cool pattern? Lots of people have made it I see. Something like that could definitely work. Thanks so much for your suggestions 🧵😊

Hi Grace, thanks for agreeing with me on shopping alone 👏🏻. You are right, we are always on a mission and carry so many patterns in our heads at all times. I thought you might like the matching tote as you are such a great bag maker. As you say sewing for a little girl is going to be nicer than working with dinosaur or shark fabric all the time 🤣. Prym has brilliant soft waistband elastic I solids. It's amazing and it holds super well.

So far Agata you are the only one who likes to shop with anyone else! Nearly everyone has said shop alone. He is so mean!! He wanted to read the comments the other day and I stopped him doing that as well 🤣. That chambray is one of those fabrics I know I'm going to be scared to cut eeeek 😱. I may do a mock up dress first, something I never do. I couldn't bear to spoil that fabric. I'm so excited for a baby girl but Katie will tell me off if I go on about sewing for girls too much. You are right about going bankrupt, for Katie we bought the pram system so will do the same for Steve. They have rocketed in price in 6 years 😮. Trish why can't you picture me crabbing?! I'm quite a tomboy at heart with the boys, I'm not all sewing, flowers and music 🤣🌸. I love using the boys to do fun stuff 👏🏼. I’ll be interested in your thoughts on the expo. My sister and I go to the one in Ohio for 3 days every year. Although, due to health, we have cut back to 2 days. We have noticed that at the Ohio expo, there is less sewing vendors and more quilting items. We both quilt so we don’t mind. But we also sew clothing and enjoy seeing new patterns. So many women in the industry have retired or backed off due to covid. Don’t get me wrong, we still love going and a sisters weekend is always the best!
Hi Susan. For me, I will be excited to go to an Expo in the US. I have only ever been to small craft shows in the UK so not much to compare it to. I'm not a quilter as you know but Trish assures me there will be lots to look at, let's see. It will also be good to get her opinion as she has been many times over the years I gather. I'm also excited to meet everyone so probably not much time to get bored. I'll definitely do some videoing from there to update you. You are right about Covid though, it changed so many things for so many people. Everyone is less adventurous and less involved in things. Let's hope I won't be disappointed 🤞🏼. Have a good weekend 😊🌸

I am exactly the same as you re colour blocking. I just haven't got the 'eye' to decide what fabrics go with what and I admire anyone who does. I have now made it and I am pleased with it albeit I wasn't very adventurous! Thanks so much for your lovely comments and I've very excited to take a break from sewing dinosaurs and shark fabrics. I have that new look pattern, though I've never made the dress, the tote is my go-to. For Christmas a year ago, I made them for gifts and everyone loved them. I made them as shopping totes so did not line them.

That would just accent your dress perfectly! It would be great when you go to Lakeland to collect all your goodies. I admit the reason I never lined mine is I've always used home decor, upholstery or denim for my shopping bags but with fashion fabric, it would be great with a sturdy stabilizing interfacing. Good luck if you find the time to make it. I'm sure you'll love it.

Tell Chris that all will be well; after his birthday, he can go back and watch the last few videos that you've done. Good for you in finding that fabric; it's a beautiful color! That was quite a nice fabric haul; was that from a sewing shop in Dorset? I do remember that fabric you got from Germany. It will make a lovely dress! You don't cook up the crabs that you catch??? William loves crab but our favorite local seafood restaurant no longer gets crab flown in from the New England area -- they say it's far too costly now. Anyway...

Hi Deb. That's very true, Chris can catch up on all the ones he has missed 🤣. That fabric was so beautiful and I could order some more if only I remembered where I bought it, typical me ha ha. Those fabric shops were in Dorset near Blandford forum. Those crabs were too small for eating but bigger than we normally catch, sorry William about your crabs 🦀. I'm so excited for the new grand daughter but I can't really show it in front of Katie, she so desperately wanted a girl rather than two boys! I know it's not the same thing as having her own but, at least, your daughter will have a new, little niece to dote on in the near future. I was never fortunate enough to have children of my own but I had my niece and nephews to spoil and the children of friends. And I did foster care for teen girls at one time before I married. No, it wasn't the same thing as having my own child but it helped to fulfill my need to nurture and care for a child. Such is life...

Crabbing sounds like so much fun!! And I agree with you - shopping for fabric is a lot more fun alone (or with people who also sew). Can you remind me what pattern you used for the boxer shorts - I think my hubby would love some of those and I can’t be bothered to make myself underwear 😂 Hope you have a fabulous weekend away with your parents! Hi Izzy, crabbing is great fun when you get success like all fishing I suppose! I’m glad most people seem to agree we need to be by ourselves when fabric shopping 😂. I had a nightmare when loading this video as a copyright issue kept coming up so I removed all photos and one of them was the pattern for those boxers, glad you found it in the description box anyhow. It’s a good pattern as long as you don’t make the ones with the access panel (not sure what it is called 🤣). Those instructions are slightly off but I’m sure you would work your way round it. Honestly Izzy, you need to try your own underwear, once you’ve made some you will never go back! Have a good weekend 😘🧵

Thank you so much. It is such good news re the Granddaughter to be in late Summer. I really can't wait to sew some girlie things 😊🌸. You aren't the only person to ask re taking the crabs home. It's not something that anyone does at that particular place, we all put them back in. It has never occurred to me to cook them. The crabs are normally so tiny I don't think you are allowed to anyway. They were bigger this time though and so plentiful. It's just a fun free thing to do with kids and thats all people have in mind really. Thanks for watching 🦀

I saw some fabric I loved that had a design at the bottom like your lovely fabric from Germany and I wanted to get it so bad for a particular dress, but I’ve never done that before! I’m not sure how to figure out how much extra fabric I would have to get! If you have ideas for me I’d love them!
Hi there. I also have never worked with a border print before hence I am going with a simple dress 😳. Luckily I am short so having the width as the length I should be ok. Keep watching to see how I get on 😁. I did order about 2 metres so hopefully a shift dress won't need more than that. Wish me luck! 🌸😁. Have a great weekend x

Oh that's lovely news Carole. Make as much as you can for her. My grandchildren don't want homemade things now, well not the older ones anyway. All that selfless sewing I don't know why you feel guilty buying fabric, surely one counteracts the other?
