I remember getting a Nokia 5310 in high-school and loving the hell out of it! The form factor felt so good in my hand, and it was the first time I had a cellphone that felt like a music player because of the 3.5mm jack with the dedicated audio controls on the side. And to top it all off, I got a god dam GBC emulator working for it. Got me through a lot of classes.
I remember fondly my original Nokia 6300 I had back in school. It was built like a brick, all sides aluminium, had sick LEDs (that did NOT flash to rhythm of music, what a waste), it had... an adequate music player, could read up to 2GB microSD card, which honestly, for that time was also adequate, and it was a java phone with 2G, so with Opera Mini and some instant messenger apps it was like a precursor for a really early modern smartphone. Ive even replaced it only after Ive found an Xperia X10 with slider QWERTY keyboard, thats how fine that phone was. I miss long car rides with me blasting tunes on earbuds and chatting with friends on IM on that phone...
My friend had one. My Siemens CX70 actually could flash with music but having only 10 MB means it's either 20 s songs, AMRs or MIDIs and i usually had mix of later ones.
I have the 5310 express music. Built in media controls THAT LIGHT UP! so even the lower end models got some sort of fun feature. And it still works perfectly fine. Charges over that Nokia pin charger and has micro USB for data transfer. Love it
Oh man I had an XpressMusic phone many years ago - the gimmick of my phone, the 5310, was that it was very thin for the time (because it wasn't an inch thick brick) and it had controls for music to the side of the screen. Loved that phone, it was the first time music and phones ever mixed for me and the music buttons were actually useful. If you ever wanted to do a follow-up, definitely have a look at that beautiful nugget.
Yeah, I wonder if the earbuds have any type of replacement warranty. My huge condolences to the customer service reps who will probably get endless calls from people who've inevitably lost or broken theirs.
Ohh dude the bonus video this week. The nostalgia. I’d love to see you review the actual retro XpressMusic one this chonkster is using the design of, that was actually sleek and a bunch of people in my school used them as serious MP3 players.
@dankpods just a note, the snake style of movement can be changed in the app settings, I too prefer the right angle way. Also the 3310 3g was my first phone so it'll always have a place in my heart. Also I played or tried around 200 2000's games on it by installing with the java JAR files.
3:58 you can tell they're the cheap gas station buds from the os labeling. They have the "TWS" label show up. Didn't even bother to change it at Nokia.
I had a Nokia 3310 for years, it glowed in the dark and I remember deleting snake on it by accident when I was 4 years old lmao. Used it until about 5 years ago when I turned 19 and got an iPhone. I still have it and the battery most likely still has charge. That thing was built to last
I have a Nokia E90 communicator from like 2007 and it fares pretty good for its age. it can connect to wifi so it can still access modern internet (apart from the web browser not supporting web 2.0) it even has flash player and it supports micro SDs, something that modern smartphones struggle to do. Nokia just isn't what it used to be
0:56 Everyone seems to talk about that Nokia 3310 nowadays, but I remember having the Nokia 1100 around the time, which came out a little later and was a slightly cheaper version I believe. It was as basic as a cell phone could get, but the damn thing was pretty much indestructible!
Same, although I'm not really a fan of this new one. It changed too much, and not for the better imo. Symbian was good; KaiOS has too much google and not enough of the options I want (like disabling the startup noise).
You have conditioned my brain to rejoice as soon there's new input on that static green slab. No matter if it's a real stinker and won't even treat a pkcell right - it's a golden nug experience, every time.
I feel so bad for convincing my dad to get the new 3310, I had faith in Nokia and he needed a modern brick. Sadly it died way too soon, and it was clearly just a shadow of the original :'( Now he uses an alcatel I found for less than a dollar in a flea market, that I bought for myself to use it as an MP3 player lmao, he's so happy with it, it was totally worth it And this one seemed fine enough for me to get, and I'm glad I waited until your video (yes I was expecting your opinion before trying this lol). You saved me quite some money, so thank you Dankpods :D Edit: that version of Snake is just ugly! lol

He still owns, runs, and works in his auto repair shop and those ear buds attached to the phone is perfect for him to not lose and for his lowered hearing capabilities. Thanks for the great reviews and entertainment !
The idea of having your wireless buds built in the smartphone is interesting, imagine a high end phone that has built in high end buds, I'd probably buy it, and people would stop complaining about the removal of the jack (if the buds are good).
Earphones inside the phone is the coolest ever idea, I really need it tbh. Even a smartphone case that somehow has a place for earphones would be amazing
Holy crap! I had a 3205!! (Same as the 3200 but CDMA). That thing was actually indestructible. It fell multiple storeys onto concrete and was totally perfect. It had a torch built in and was super tiny. I actually still have it despite it being utterly pointless now. I didn't keep the next and final Nokia that I had after that.
I didn’t even know Nokia still existed. My second ever phone was a Nokia 5730 XpressMusic. It did everything! Dedicated music buttons, N-Gage capability, full keyboard even! I didn’t have any friends to text but I mean that’s besides the point.
Man I was really looking forward to buying this nugget and making it my phone for High School and Collage, since I wanted a phone that only does calls and let's me listen to music on the go. It's so sad that Nokia doesn't give a damn about making this more appealing and really working with the budget. Another classic big companies stink moment.
Honestly, I'd be more than willing to deal with a chonky phone. If it had built in buds, good padding/protection, decent specs (I game a lot with my phone) and a big battery.. like if you've ever seen the energizer phone. Sacrifice a bit of that massive batt in place for buds and boom! It's humongous yes.. but I could deal.
Even if it had some form of Spotify that could only play your liked music, maybe it downloads of wifi. But I’m not going back to the days of TH-cam to MP3, my Spotify is too large and I’m too lazy 😂
Nokia 5530 XpressMusic was my first smartphone back in the day. Everything but the software on that phone was great, even the included dirty buds. Sad to see how far the brand has fallen.
The software on the modern Nokias have no relation to the old Nokia S40 system, it's more or less a skin on some Mediatek chipset reference software. It's actually missing a lot of features that were in the actual Nokia developed system from 15 years ago 👌
My last Nokia was an N95 with 3G - I used to run the winamp server on my PC at home and have the winamp app on the phone so I could stream my music from the PC. It worked, just about, if you had full signal. After that i had a few windows mobile PDA type phones, then an iPhone 3G and all iPhones since then. My first mobile internet setup was a Psion series 5 PDA and Nokia 7110 'Matrix' phone with the cool slide down cover. You had to line up the infra-red ports to get data. The screen was black and white and it was super slow but I did manage to look at Auto Trader from inside a car, and that felt so cool at the time.
My first phone was a Nokia 5610 XPress Music! Classic Slider with a T9 Keyboard... Sliding mechanism to go between MP3 Player, Radio and Home Screen. I loved that thing!
Every time I think companies manage to move past making nuggets, here comes Nokia making something from stock parts and programming. Almost expect to find this brick in an arcade machine 🕹
It’s sad that modern “Nokia” isn’t actually trying to revive that cellphone market, I grew up on Nokia phones starting with 1100, then going to Asha 202, then to Asha 308, and to Asha 300, where 300 was much better model with 5MP camera, 3G, and a lot of memory/storage compared to most other Nokia cellphones, it was cool to use those devices at the time, nowadays I do have 5130 XpressMusic for music, as it’s small and has side buttons for music control, it even has those cool music lights, it’s a very cool phone even if it’s from 2009, and I can easily connect my wireless earbuds if I want
6:35 For me, it's the other way around: streaming is so reliable for me. I download tracks I want to play offline, and they play perfectly, not to mention the vast amount of content I can download. With my CDs, some of them don't copy over perfectly, which makes them chop sometimes, and it's much more of a hassle if you want a lot of music copied over.
I had the original 5310 XpressMusic back in school.. in black&red... loved it, played so many games during classes that i broke the nr 4 key :D So, of course I got very excited that they made a new version.... But now i'm just sad :( (still a great video nevertheless :) )
Reminds me of those “1000 in 1 brick game” thingies… 8:18 There. Now it’s a 1000 in 1 brick game thing. Wait this was a just released device?! I sure love living under a rock
I really liked the old Nokia design, and than when they introduced flip phones I loved those. Miss my old Razr, it was even washed once and it still worked after drying. I even went from HTC touch with slide out keyboard to flip Blackberry, but that one lasted only a year because the battery kept getting hot and it damaged some things (it even made my custom made blue phone case lose its color)
i had a 5310 xpressmusic in like 2012. amazing phone. had a 512M sd card fillled with ripped cds and i played a ton of the sims 2, tetris and snake 3 on it.
Most people buying "dumb" phones now are not running back to them to get away from the internet, but buying them as their first phone. Just having SMS makes a massive difference. Many of these feature phone now use KaiOS which has basic internet browsers and whatsapp, which makes them the cheapest way to get online by far.
Well, i used OperaMini mod and used internet on all of my phones. Operators were baffled when i asked for settings, i sometimes called only for fun, because at that time, it was only for smartphones to use proper GPRS and not plebby WAP. I was using VK (russian Facebook) before it had mobile version, even some html games were working. Also Jim (ICQ) were popular but with internet being quite expensive i rarely used it to communicate, mostly voice call.
2006 Nokia? That must have the fabled 2.5mm headphone jack! Now that's some real audiophile stuff. (Some of those latter half of 00s phones could even play mp3s right out of the box and still had 2.5mm headphone jacks. It's as if Nokia was actively trying to avoid people giving them money.)

Fellow KZ owner here. Yeah KZ is the best IEM for the money.
@@rizaradri316 I hadn't even rocked an IEM before. Always stuck to overear or earbuds depending, but dang - so much more comfortable for long periods.
You need to try "Linsoul Salnotes Zero" and you will never look back to KZ, especially if you value your money. Those things are the best you can get under 50 bucks and they cost around 20.
Their tuning is just *chef's kiss* perfect and you get a detachable cable.
@@basti329 Ah don't do me like this. I'm monogamous with my KZs but that Linsoul looks so nice in that periwinkle blue...
@@salemite Do it my guy you will not regret it. KZ is absolut trash compared to those lol.
Yeah, they managed to stick really loud speakers into something so thin, it was like magic
Even though I'm not the biggest fan of snakes, I've gotta say Frank is adorable
I actually picked up some KZ's a while back on your recommendation. One of the best earbud purchases I've ever made in my life.
Same! I got the Bluetooth attachment for mine and it's decent.
Same! Purchased ZSN Pro a year ago, then ESX last month, for about 12$ each! Absolute bargain price for such quality! ZSN mic didn't last long tho(
Yeah! I got the ZSN Pro X and the Bluetooth adapter, I don't need any more earbuds for life
Every day I feel the urge more and more to buy better headphones
my left earbud randomly stopped working out of nowhere so idk. I took good care of them too, cleaned them regularly.
5:05 the way you managed to simulate speaker distortion on high volume is amazing!
"The internet isn't as fun as it used to be"
dankpods hitting us with the hard truth
Been watching videos of young people daily driving feature phones and I am tempted to do the same.
hard truth but does that mean we should all be depress and forgot we watching a actually fun video?
Built in earbuds never usually end well so I'm curious how this will end
Update:it did not end well
1 grit has the answer to that.
Yeah, I wonder if the earbuds have any type of replacement warranty. My huge condolences to the customer service reps who will probably get endless calls from people who've inevitably lost or broken theirs.
Didn't some other company make a similar product? I think it was the guys to made that pen phone
Ohh dude the bonus video this week. The nostalgia.
I’d love to see you review the actual retro XpressMusic one this chonkster is using the design of, that was actually sleek and a bunch of people in my school used them as serious MP3 players.
i still have my 5130, The headphone output is too good, better than some iPods, thing accepts a 32gb sd card

PLEASE post your Spotify playlist a guy like you must have immaculate music taste. I love your videos!
2:27 Thank you for these masterpieces of nugget videos. The audio and video are spot on for future meme material
@dankpods just a note, the snake style of movement can be changed in the app settings, I too prefer the right angle way. Also the 3310 3g was my first phone so it'll always have a place in my heart. Also I played or tried around 200 2000's games on it by installing with the java JAR files.
@2:46 Frank actually does provide us a lick. Also to note, it's at the moment right after DankPods ask for it!
3:58 you can tell they're the cheap gas station buds from the os labeling. They have the "TWS" label show up. Didn't even bother to change it at Nokia.
I do like the idea of the earbuds being in the phone but that’s the only thing it really has going for.
I had a Nokia 3310 for years, it glowed in the dark and I remember deleting snake on it by accident when I was 4 years old lmao.
Used it until about 5 years ago when I turned 19 and got an iPhone. I still have it and the battery most likely still has charge. That thing was built to last
Frank just chillin is my mood when I'm at work.
I actually really like Nokia's OS, and the fact that it's consistent between phones is a huge plus for me.
Same, although I'm not really a fan of this new one. It changed too much, and not for the better imo. Symbian was good; KaiOS has too much google and not enough of the options I want (like disabling the startup noise).
These videos are so bloody enlightening. My day's been bullcrap, and this video has raised my mood so much. Thanks loads, dankpods.
I hope tomorrow is better for you. I had a rough day yesterday.
Hope you guys are alright now. Hoping for a great day for both of you tomorrow
Thanks loads 😁👍
HUPing around all day is tiring
The headphones connected were called TWS, which is the same brand who makes botleg airpods (The once you get free from wish)
It is probably 10 dollars
It's not a brand it literally stands for truly wireless stereo or speakers lol. So even worse than a cheap brand it's literally unnamed.
Yea, nokia didn't even put effort into this, probably marketed for old people who likes it simple
At least the earbuds case looks like a cool idea, i hope someone makes a case for earbuds in this style
Bonus if i can just magnetically detach the module
I always love the old xpress music the design is amazing the screen quality is nice and the ringtone and the os is just clean
You have conditioned my brain to rejoice as soon there's new input on that static green slab. No matter if it's a real stinker and won't even treat a pkcell right - it's a golden nug experience, every time.
Dude I completely lost it at 5:55 😂😂 “Wuuuu listen to music like WOW, udu beh dehdeh”
I feel so bad for convincing my dad to get the new 3310, I had faith in Nokia and he needed a modern brick. Sadly it died way too soon, and it was clearly just a shadow of the original :'( Now he uses an alcatel I found for less than a dollar in a flea market, that I bought for myself to use it as an MP3 player lmao, he's so happy with it, it was totally worth it
And this one seemed fine enough for me to get, and I'm glad I waited until your video (yes I was expecting your opinion before trying this lol). You saved me quite some money, so thank you Dankpods :D
Edit: that version of Snake is just ugly! lol
if you can convince nokia to make another 3310 that has same price tag to modren flagship phone, i am sure that the phone will last extheme long and hard to break
how many kangaroos did you spend on the alcatel
@@tylern6420 500 chilean pesos, no idea how much is in kangaroos... but it died recently, the battery turned into a spicy pillow. RIP cheap Alcatel, you did your best.
You should definitely review some of the original XpressMusic phones, they’re pretty neato
This video make me remember that my grandmother have some of this phones... I'm definitely among for one lol
This phone is actually perfect for an older person that knows abit of tech but doesn't want/cant use a smartphone, i think im gonna get one for my 89y/o uncle.
He still owns, runs, and works in his auto repair shop and those ear buds attached to the phone is perfect for him to not lose and for his lowered hearing capabilities.
Thanks for the great reviews and entertainment !
Honestly, if earbuds were more standardized I would definitely buy this phone just for the fun of it and place in my own earbuds.
The idea of having your wireless buds built in the smartphone is interesting, imagine a high end phone that has built in high end buds, I'd probably buy it, and people would stop complaining about the removal of the jack (if the buds are good).
8:54 The way he sings Tetris is reminding me to this one clip of trump where he goes bing bing bong bonb
8:30 the best part of the video
Earphones inside the phone is the coolest ever idea, I really need it tbh. Even a smartphone case that somehow has a place for earphones would be amazing
Holy crap! I had a 3205!! (Same as the 3200 but CDMA).
That thing was actually indestructible. It fell multiple storeys onto concrete and was totally perfect. It had a torch built in and was super tiny. I actually still have it despite it being utterly pointless now. I didn't keep the next and final Nokia that I had after that.
10:29 sickest beat fr
😂
I would never want integrated buds. Not only does it mean I will definitely lose them, I can’t replace them!
I've never been a fan of snakes but I gotta admit, Frank is winning me over, slowly but surely.
I didn’t even know Nokia still existed. My second ever phone was a Nokia 5730 XpressMusic. It did everything! Dedicated music buttons, N-Gage capability, full keyboard even! I didn’t have any friends to text but I mean that’s besides the point.
i like the shadow the hedgehog aesthetic it has going on
Thanks for giving me something to watch, Dank! Love your videos! Have a great rest of your day!
Wooohoooo! Another Thursday, another nugget! Love the content, Wade! Keep yelling at nuggets and banging drums, man!
It's humongous yes.. but I could deal.
their tws aint that good too.unles worth of an edifier tws
Even if it had some form of Spotify that could only play your liked music, maybe it downloads of wifi. But I’m not going back to the days of TH-cam to MP3, my Spotify is too large and I’m too lazy 😂
They dont have to make them built-in, they could just add a little magnet Port and have a bud case attach there
Nokia 5530 XpressMusic was my first smartphone back in the day. Everything but the software on that phone was great, even the included dirty buds. Sad to see how far the brand has fallen.
Mine too! That's the one that convinced me to ditch the noble feature phone back then.
I started laughing uncontrollably when the Nokia camera comparisons started playing, I don't even know why I did, I just found it so funny.
Wonderful content! Thanks so much for 3 great years!
When you started recording frank with the nokia I couldn't stop laughing (the audio too haha)
Every time I think companies manage to move past making nuggets, here comes Nokia making something from stock parts and programming. Almost expect to find this brick in an arcade machine 🕹
What do people want from cheap-shit Chinese company that owns Nokia mobile sector? Idk
It will make my day if I see this in a crane machine and I managed to snag one.
I remember texting you ages on Patreon asking for this! Cheers mate so happy to see the pure nuggetry
I hate what HMD did to Nokia. Real Nokia would never
I had the original 5310 XpressMusic back in school.. in black&red... loved it, played so many games during classes that i broke the nr 4 key :D So, of course I got very excited that they made a new version....
A literal genius idea with the absolute worst execution. It's like the biggest companies make the worst crap lol.

9:50 rest in peace tho
I was wondering if you were going to review this. I'm glad that you did.
i had a 5310 xpressmusic in like 2012. amazing phone. had a 512M sd card fillled with ripped cds and i played a ton of the sims 2, tetris and snake 3 on it.

Most people buying "dumb" phones now are not running back to them to get away from the internet, but buying them as their first phone. Just having SMS makes a massive difference. Many of these feature phone now use KaiOS which has basic internet browsers and whatsapp, which makes them the cheapest way to get online by far.
The new Nokias doesn’t run kaios, but there’s a large community of people who use kaios phones

It would be cool if it was wired headphones that are like on a spool inside the phone and you pull em out and the wire unravels out of the phone.
On a nokia you know the spring inside would break within a week and then just be broken forever

Really didn't expect to see this phone covered here, but now that it has it seems oddly perfect. A hybrid of two different spheres of nuggets! Shame HMD seems to be meh(current phone's a Nokia 5.4, previously had a 6 and a 3 before that)
I bought a Nokia G50 this year and it was absolutely AWFUL. The only thing I enjoyed about that phone was the external design. Ended up returning it.
The first generation of Android phones (2, 3, 5, 6, maybe 7 and 8) was awesome! And theyve faded away somehow
