That means with proof of infidelity and assuming that was the reason given for the divorce he would have been given maybe 70% of the marital assets and no alimony payments. Furthermore, North Carolina also has "alienation of affection" in the law books. So he could have sued both his ex and the AP for a healthy chunk of change. Go thermonuclear! Another mixed up story. Why did Max have to put his pants back on when he found his wife and AP asleep in the beginning? Why did Max say he is falling for Molly all over again when he just met her? These stories are getting worse and worse.
This story needs some refinement. Child support - is to pay for the support of minot children. Minor children are under the age of 18. Alimony/spousal suppor - is something completely separate from child support. Alimony is payed typically paid to a spouse with a lower income or no income fir a set period of time that a lawyer can recommend and a judge will determine. You don't pay child support for children once they reach the age of 18 anywhere in North America unless there are special circumstances such as debilitating disabilities and even then, they can become wards of the state in many jurisdictions. Alimony is dependent on income and in places with at-fault divorce laws, it can be no or minimal alimony and separation of assets. Also in North Carolina, he can sue for divorce on the grounds of adultery as well as sue the affair partner for alienation of affection.
