I can't help but laugh every time I see in a story like this the cheater says "they meant nothing to me" thinking it would magically make things better when in fact it makes things worse, it means they cared so little about their relationship they were ok risking everything for those that mean nothing to them meaning the one their cheating on means less than nothing

Then prayed to God to grant them forgiveness, promising something in return. Then the wronged party forgave them. So they are now honor-bound to fulfill their promise.
