  • Marie Antoinette’s famous fashion designer, Marie Jeanne Bertin, created dresses and hats for the Queen and her court. She became renowned for her style design, and the ladies of nobility all over Europe wanted to wear the dresses she made. Her influence on the Queen of France was immense.

    After reading many many things about Marie Antoinette I have came to the conclusion that she really wasn't at all like she is portrayed I feel very sorry for her in a lot of ways she wasn't the bad person she's made out to be I don't believe it I just don't! She was young and arrogant you know but she went through hardships before she ever became the queen and it just she just wasn't near as bad as people make her out to be it's all there is to it!

      Reports weren't that she wasn't arrogant at all. A silly 14 year old girl with an unlimited fashion budget trying to fit into a superficial court. France was bankrupt from the father in laws spending and she was the scapegoat

    Thank you for letting us know about her. So she is person behind gorgeous gowns wore by Marie Antoinette, and partially responsible for unnecessary extravaganza queen was accused of. We can see she was a great designer making her fortune from her royal clients. It's really heart breaking how she made the last gown black for mourning worn by the queen in last days. Tragic how the time changed for Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI.

    Would she really have been in any real risk of arrest or execution? She was a commoner and a woman, and therefore excluded from politics.

    • @livesandhistories
      @livesandhistories  ปีที่แล้ว

      During the Revolution, when Bertin travelled abroad, it was speculated that she did so in order to get in touch with the queen’s relatives and deliver her messages. For this reason, Bertin’s absence from France was deemed suspicious by the Revolutionary regime - not a risk-free situation for Bertin.

    • @hepsabaptron00
      @hepsabaptron00 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@livesandhistories ah, ok. So would have been a case of wanting to kill the messenger. I guess it shows how out of touch those were in the bubble or Versailles! But I do commend her for putting herself at risk in the hopes of aiding her client. No matter what you think about the Ancient Regime it shows a commitment from Rose
