Does this guy have a website yet? He'd probably be a millionaire in less than a year just off of how good his models are!! For real. You inspired me to make a diorama of my own and I'm still in the process of finding a good enough Allo toy/model to use and repaint. I haven't tried sculpting at all but I hope to get some information from you or other people on where to find good, realistic ones.

Easier and cheaper way to figure out the volume. Is by filling a bucket to the edge (knowing how much water goes in it) and putting your model in. What is pushed out is the volume. And with plastic Dino’s you can do that ;)

I heavily disagree. Sigilmasosaurus is not a confirmed genus, and is likely a spinosaurus. And besides, even if it is valid, then it is very simular to Spinosaurus and we already have some great Spinosaurus figures. A dilophosaurus would be interesting because it lacks accurate figures.
@@nugboy5701 I thought sigilmassasaurus got validated and suggested possibly growing bigger than spino? Though thats only what Ive gleaned off a google search and Im sure I could be misunderstanding something as Im not super involved in paleo talk yet--still pretty new to everything. I do agree that a dilo would be cool to see, though! :>

That's nice! For the volume used for resin, that seems to add up in price in production. Have you thought about using less resin by putting a filler inside (with supports) so when pouring the resin, the outer skin is filled and formed and not the innards. An example is like the old action figure He-man toys of yesteryear, like when a child pulls the arm or leg of the action figure, what they see inside is empty space inside.

Don't have a ton of experience with this type of casting, but have been a dental tech for 16+ years. I think what you need vacuum chamber and not a pressure pot. The pressure is used to change the boiling point of volatile monomers so they don't bubble during polymerization heat or curing temp heat.
That said, awesome work!
The pressure pot in resin casting compresses the bubbles until they are not visible while the resin hardens. A vacuum could pop most of the bubbles introduced in mixing before pouring, but it wouldn’t compress bubbles trapped in a complex mold or introduced by pouring. I do vacuum the silicone before making the molds so there aren’t any air bubbles to be compressed when they’re being used to pressure cast.
@@Kayakasaurus What you should have been doing is after pouring the silicone, place it inside the pressure pot as it cures under 60psi. Then do the same as you cast it. You are still getting bubbles because there is air pockets trapped inside the silicone mold from you not curing it under pressure. The vacuum chamber is not needed.

I don't know how you guys can make the resin flow through all openings.The resin i use is fluid but even so it never fills every gap.

it's not possible to re use those mesuring cups. like the doasing caps that come with medicine is it? just wipe it out good. maybe clean it with something.
do those count as shrink wraped dinosaurs?
could you use those scraps to be plants?
Rubber bands work well for silicone molds, with larger molds I use sewing elastic, cut it to size, and then staple it into a band. The measuring cups are not reusable. I get 24 for a dollar at the dollar store, they’re disposable shot glasses.

I would say atleast 9 or 10 before it starts to wear down

Hey, does an instant pot work on the pressure casting? Or can a 2 and a half gallon air pressure paint tank work?
The paint tank should work If it’s rated for 60 psi. Mine was made for paint, it has an overflow safety, regulator etc. I pressurize it to 55lbs before the safety goes off. If you’re making your own molds you’ll need to vacuum the air out of the silicone so it doesn’t get shrunk during pressure casting.

Tu measure the volume of resin needed it's easier to fill the mould with water and than pure it in a graduated container.
