Awesome video 😊 getting one for my D3 and was wondering how to install the rear camera you have made me life so much easier now after watching this thank you
Having just fitted one of these to my MK4 Focus ST please be careful where you run the wires, especially through the A pillars if you have airbags fitted.. The wire needs to go behind the airbag and not in front, which will happen if you just push the wire up into the gap between the head lining and the pillar. Also if you have a DAB radio you may lose signal if you fit the rear view camera to the actual glass.
I’ve had this model with rear camera for 3 years now and it’s been amazing, I don’t understand why people fit it behind the rear view mirror where you can’t see the screen? I have mine just below and have show speed as screen saver where I can see my speed at a glance.
Hi, It is really great isn't it. For me, I have it there as its not a distraction, I do a lot of miles about 20,000 a year and I do find at night it can give off a bot of glare, I could set it up like you say to show speed. Thanks for watching and commenting. James
Hi I was a bit cautious at first, the magnet is quite strong, Its just a case of holding the camera at both edges and giving it a good tugg. Hope that helps. James
Hi, I found the installation interesting, I did one some time ago hiding the cables beneath the roof lining etc, the rear camera had to be connected to the lights, and the front to the ignition switch. things have moved on since then for the better. the hardest bit I thought will be the connections to the ignition. also, you should mention the make of the vehicle. to late now.Regards welshman 2081
Hello & Thanks for watching and commenting, The connection to the ignition was actually very simple, I ordered a Nextbase hard wire kit and it comes with all you need, you just Piggy Back of a fuse connection on the fuse board, you just need to select on that comes ion with the ignition. I cant remember which one I selected. The piece of kit you get with the hard wire kit is like a double fuse holder with a feed wire coming off it. You plug that into the fuse location you have selected, put the removed fuse in the back so the circuit you are piggy backing of is still fused and the Nextbase has its own dedicated fuse. Sorry I didn't mention the Car, the Video is shows it being installed in a LR Discovery 4, I have actually since removed it from the Discovery and re-installed it into a MB GLS 350. Hope that all helps and thanks again. James
Thanks for sharing. It's a fiddly job isn't it.. We're please with our dashcam front and rear, we have a thinkware. It's good that the rear is powered from the front camera. Haha that rear panel was funny, just give it a punch. Good job BTW - I thought you had a GLS? I can't keep up :-)
Thanks Graham. I actually decided to upgrade to the rear view option after your little incident 🙂. I am really pleased with it. I do have a GLS lol. This vlog has been in the can since early on in the year just hadn't got round to editing it. I actually swapped from the Discovery 4 just after fitting the camera because of continuing issues with the Discovery and had to take it all out again and fit to the GLS. Thanks for watching. James
@@TheStuartmbaxter The good news is that even though you have the rear on display it is still recording the back as well, you get 2 files on the SD card, one for rear and one for the front 🙂
Hello in theory you could. You could position the camera to look down at the hitch. However in practice the portion of the rear screen on the next base that displays the rear view is about a 1/4 of the total screen so would be quite small. I haven't tried it as I have my next base behind the rearview mirror so it dosent distract. Thanks for your question and thanks for watching.
Hello, it is called Rear Window Cam, the one I have came as part of the kit with the forward facing camera unit. You can buy them separately but you need to be sure they are compatible with the front facing camera you have. You can find more details on the link below. hope that helps and thanks for watching. Canadian here and I have a question, what’s a Windscreen and What’s a boot?? Were you referring to your shoes you were wearing. Windscreen shows nothing in emoji Boot shows a 👢 in emoji
Lol, hello from Canada, I should have actually said Windowscreen, the big bit of glass in front of you when you drive. 😁. I think you guys call it the Windsheild. The boot is that space at the back of your car for putting stuff in. (Not the kids) I think it is called th3 trunk over there. Thanks for watching and commenting. Have a great day. James
Never had a dash cam James. Looks a good system. I wanted the Audi traffic recorder as they call it, but it isn’t suitable for my car because it’s an older generation car. The traffic recorder is wired into the vehicles wiring system and only later models have provisions for it. Where did your first cam take its power from? Cheers, Rob
Thanks Rob. It's a shame but In this day and age it's it's bit of a must have and will help to appoint liability should there be an incident. The next base does work very well and the software is very easy to use. Thanks for watching. James .
With the hard wire kit o basically found a fuse that had a 12v that comes on with the ignition. The hard wire kit has an adaptor that piggy backs on the fuse. Very easy to install and a lot tidier than the cigarette liter adaptor. James

Thanks you for showing rear module installation. I will be doing that soon with mine so it came really helpful.
No Problem at all, glad it was of use. James
Bless you for trying to help out mate, but a lot of this video is just listening to you telling us what you're doing!

@@HOPESGAMINGYT No problem 😁
Is there a knack for taking the front camera off the magnetic mount? I have a fight with it every time so I'm sure I'm doing it wrong.

This doesn't show you how to remove it but it does show you how it just clips in with the Magnet

Part way through this does show you that you just pull it out

My rear cam doesn’t work as soon as I connect the cable the dashcam turns off
Hi I am sorry I don't know what the problem may be. Hopefully you have managed to get it sorted
How do you get back to duel camera after you tap the rear ?if that makes sense
In all honesty I don't know, I haven't tried, I have only viewed the footage when downloaded from the Cam. Is it a case of pressing the screen again
@@CaravanEscapades101 I will try later, only had it installed Friday and I tapped rear camera and it was filming behind me all the way home.
