I read somewhere that people who don't like cats tend to narrow their eyes when looking at them out of distaste. Unfortunately narrowing of eyes to a cat is a friendly gesture so they will be attracted to you more.

I don't know. I think that cats are just little jerks and they love to fake affection with humans who have the bad taste to dislike them 😆
So they come all ''friendly'' and rub themselves against your legs but in reality the cat is maniacally laughing inside 🤣
I love cats. They're unapologetic little drama queens lol

Lol I think they know who dislikes them and try to conquer their affection like: oh yeah bitch you're going to love me because I said so

That is true. Cats blink slowly at each other or at humans to say "I like you". Narrowed eyes in generall show other cats how chill you are. If cats are relaxed, they relax their eyes too on nearly closing them. If cats are scared or in the mood to hunt, they widen their eyes and their pupil to let more light in and see as much as possible. Humans do so too, but not as extrem. Cats hunt in the dark, humans not. If humans want to focus on something, they narrow their eyes to blend out other things. Cats don't do that. It wouldn't make sense at night. So cats don't understand this human kind of narrowed eye angry look and often misunderstand it as a sign of beeing relaxed or even as a kindly blink.
If you look angry at a cat without giving other signs of angryness, most cats will think: "Hey! This one is one chill human! Must safe to be here! I like this human. Hey human, let's chill together!"

I'm so sorry but this kid trying to blow out his brother's candles is not in any way cute I just had this problem with one of my nieces trying to blow out my 2 year old son's candles at his birthday party and I pulled her away from it and then she went back to blow his candles out so I had to pull her away and embarrass her in front of everybody and tell her it was not okay and then that happened and then me and my mother-in-law got into an argument because my mother-in-law said that I embarrassed myself and my husband by going off on this little girl but there is a lot of context that I am not putting on here I actually have a Reddit Thread about it. Ok so....I did not really go off on her all I said was that's not okay and you need to know that's not okay, I sent my mother-in-law a message later that day or the next day apologizing for embarrassing the little girl and then she went off on me saying that I'm disrespectful and all I do is hurt people and my husband needs to find who he married because I'm not it I've been married to my husband for almost 9 years and apparently she has felt this way the entire time. 😢😢

Once when my mom was arguing with my dad in the living room, I walked up to her and gave her a cat toy that has the jingle ball in it. She didn't even noticed I put it in her hand. She also likes to talk with her hands..... So every time she'd move her hand, while arguing, it would jingle. when she finally noticed everyone couldn't stop laughing. That was the best moment ever and I'll never forget the beautiful jingle sound over her yelling.

About the Brazilian birthday party: we have a high criminality level around here, and it's a thing of frustration to many people that a lot of criminals, some of them very dangerous, get away with crime because they're minors.
There are measures that minor felons are submitted to, but, in general, they're way more lenient than being judged while adult. And around here we don't have this possibility of being judged as an adult independently of age according to the gravity of the crime - although I'm of the opinion that we should start thinking about establishing something like that in our judicial system.
Anyway, it seems this loser got caught on his birthday... and it's going to face adult criminal prosecution. And the policemen are mocking him for it. They're probably the ones who got him the cake.
Also funnier for Brazilians: he's wearing a jersey from a soccer team which is famous for having a lot of criminals as fans. lol

While chatting and walking to math class, I handed her my empty can of coke. Not only did she hold onto it but she threw it in the rubbish bin along with her own empty can. It took all my power not to burst out laughing.
I continued this trick many times.

Of course my mom was bigger than me so it didn't come down all the way. The ride started and the whole duration of the ride was me trying not to die lol.
I was sliding out, and my mom had to grab a hold of me and keep a death grip to hold me in. I came off the coaster like a zombie with my shirt ripped and adrenaline running.

Tipp for your father: Narrowed eyes in cat language means to be relaxed and/or to like someone. He should try not to look angry at cats. If he look with big eyes, most cats will stay away. Also cats don't like fast movements and noise. That's the reason cats often go away from people who are enthusiastic to pet them. This often happens to children who love animals.
Maybe your father can learn to show more movement in front of cats. I mean other movement then to leave. Maybe he can learn to act in a way, that the cats will leave him alone.

@@tessaritter5339 It's been his whole life. He stiffens up in utter terror if he's sitting - it's truly sad. At a party at a friend's house once, the cats escaped the bedroom (a few people had issues, so they were in the master bedroom), and they bee-lined for my father, of course. One jumped on the back of the couch and were on his shoulders. He froze in terror and just started saying my name so I could take the cat off him because he was shaking. I think my grandmother had issues and passed it on to him. He's been attacked - once came home from walking our dogs with his knees shredded. Now in his 70's, he just walks away quickly. It's a pity, because he adores dogs, and a friend's abused dog who was terrified of men came right up and curled in his lap, and he's not a small man. But cats are something he can't get past. :(

My air conditioner guy was mildly allergic so my cat always helped him by laying all over his tools and climbing onto his shoulder. He started carrying benadryl in his tool box.

My older sister and I are a year and a day apart. Growing up we celebrated our birthday on HER birthday and then after singing to her and her blowing out the candles, mom and dad would take out 1 candle and sing to me.

10 year old me found that mom's and dad's will say yes to anything when they are on the phone...I still use this technique 'till this day and especially at work. * At work it helps to send a follow up email confirming the "yes" while they are still oh the phone. LOL!

    8:09 Funny story:
I was on a ride at god knows where (I think it was a knockoff of six flags) and the seatbelt came undone in the middle of it due to the plastic part keeping the two pieces together snapping. Needless to say, I always hold onto the shoulder bars tightly every time I'm on a ride that has them in case the belt snaps :)

The more you know: when people don't like something they generally sneer, slitting their eyes. When cats are in a loving mood they will slit their eyes. When they see someone with half-closed eyes they think that they love them. This is a case of embodied communication gone wrong for cat haters.
