Dude!!! This video just saved me a headache. So I’m rebuilding an 81 Suzuki GS450. It’s back together it starts but left carb backfires running cool etc. I’m checking around the airbox etc and watched this while eating breakfast today and said oh shnap! That damn port on the carb is not an over flow it’s meant to go to primer on petcock! Found my vacuum leak lol thanx man!!
My ninja 300 has a whine and it starts whining as soon as I start it but is MUCH more noticeable when it’s warmed up and it gets really annoying. My 1st and 2nd gear seem a little bit slower but I haven’t stalled in 1st while at a light yet. It’s a very annoying whine that gets louder around 20kph It could be my garbage fairings that won’t connect properly, I’ll try some tape on those to stop wind from getting in but if it’s not that then I’d love some thoughts on what it may be as I have no experience with working on my bike solo and don’t know what to look for.
Would this still work on a fuel injected bike? I have a suspected vacuum leak on my bike, but I'm not totally sure where to look other than the hoses coming from the air filter.
@@JadusMotorcycleParts Thanks! My bike is idling funny and randomly cuts out when coming to a stop and just taking off from a stop. I've found the hoses that come from the airbox, are there any other places that could be leaking? I don't really know a lot about bikes yet so I'm not sure which hoses are for air!
Ok so: my idel/rpms are all out of wack and it shard to get it to idel at the same volume for long to even listen for a change... Fluid will kind of bubble where the leak is when you spray right?
I own Gixxer 155 engine won't idle and idle screw doesn't work either goes 4000 rpm or shuts off ,while rising acceleration it stays at 3500 or 4000 rpm take 10-15 sec time to revs then shut off( it's not CMG in idle position)while riding also engine rpm goes high but while changing higher gears its CMG down with half clutch what could be the problem is it leak or carburetor problem
Hi! Hard to diagnose an engine we are not familiar with, but it could for sure be a vacuum leak. But it could also be broken air/fuel adjustment screws - sometimes the tips can break off. Check out this blog post here - different bike and different carbs but you can see what the problem may be: www.jadusmotorcycleparts.com/post/2016/09/04/xs750-carb-repair-broken-airfuelpilotmix-screw-tips
Hey man, I've had my 1980 sr250 for years now. It has always run great but the choke acts in reverse of how I'd expect it to be. Push it in halfway to cold start, pull it all the way out to run. Starts first or second kick, Idles great and runs great when choke is pulled all the way out (away from the carb) but the knob sometimes wiggles back into the carb choking (i assume at least) the motor out. Is this correct or is my bike just so lean it runs perfect on full choke? I'd like to order your performance kit but I want to make sure my bike is running properly before I start tweaking things! The bike has always been like this. When I bought it it had no factory airbox and the previous owner did some work on things. Not sure if the jets are set up to factory specs or not. So basically I'm asking, is full choke with the knob pulled all the way out? Or pushed all the way in. Thanks in advance!
thank you for listening hey man! Yes, your choke is not working as it should. For cold starts, choke all the way out. Once the engine is warm it should be in. It sounds like your pilot jet circuit could be blocked. Have you rebuilt the carb? That is always a good start :)
Hi. Can you explain me if Fuel taps vacuum is not working? Because my sr250 s vacuum is broken then I fix it with glue then now fuel directly fall in to carb..
haha sprayed my intake boots on my 750gsxf and it just went from 1k revs to 3k instantly of a tiny spritz haha, i wonder if has an EXTREME air leak, ima say yes haha, when reving it hangs and when it gets warm it raises revs then cuts off completely.
@@JadusMotorcycleParts update on that bike, carb number 1 had a huge crack in the carb body near the vacuum chamber and the in-take boot was no-longer in 1 piece xD old bikes doing old things, whoever owned this poor thing prior absolutely abused the poor thing.
Not a stupid example at all, very helpful.👍
Man I know this is an old video but I really appreciate the effort you went through to demonstrate this issue. Cheers from Australia

Nice job. You can read about things but a demonstration is so much better.
I got one under the engine somewhere around the center-stand, i can feel it like the exhaust but just a little one and fortunately there's no oil leak
Great video and totally to the point.
What fluid did you use?
Thanks! This is a cheap WD-40 equivalent :)
Loving all these new videos! 🙌 thank you!
Short & Sweet. I love learning random stuff.
i knnow this video is old now but can i ask if the idle going low and high is it caused by a air leak
Perhaps a dumb question but what are you spraying it with?
Im not sure either...
In this case it is the equivalent to WD40 :)
If you use starting fluid the rpms go up immediately the change in sound is pretty telling.

Yes it would work with an injected bike :)

I have rev hang for a couple of seconds...could that be due to a vacuum leak?
It could be! Could also be a lean condition.
@@JadusMotorcycleParts thx for your advice
What is he spraying with?
This is a WD40 equivalent ;)
Seafoam

Not necessarily. The intake tract is under vacuum, not pressure, so the fluid gets drawn in rather than pushed out.
When I start my bike it immediately revs to like 10k, can that also be a vacuum leak?
Could be. If so, it would be quite a sever one!
is it carb cleaner you`re spraying ?
Exactly-he doesn’t say what he is spraying. That’s pretty import info that was left out. 🤦🏻♂️

Its good old WD40 hehe
