    I've learned soo much from these commented games, I really love to see how the ideas develop in the conversation. I can only watch 20 minutes at a time because I always get too excited and go play a game

    Looks like we never put back my stone at 10,5 after my folly on the top side... looks like a half-point win for me, wahoooooooooo!

    • @NickSibicky
      @NickSibicky  10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      But didn't I win by 1.5 points?

    • @AndrewJacksonSGC
      @AndrewJacksonSGC 10 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Nick Sibicky yeah, but the place where my stone should have been, was that extra point for you at the very last move ;) 2 point swing! IMAGINARY VICTORY!

      Andrew Jackson Yeah but if you weren't rushed at the end maybe Nick would have done a better endgame... or maybe you would have. The world shall never know the victor of the fantasy game.

    I have to mention that the article mentioned at ~55:30 -- "B-2 Bomber" on Sensei's Library -- was written by a couple of friends who are also Seattle area players!

    I also scratched my head at around the 9:15 mark. I've heard just blocking IS a mistake and that a move like 13-4 is correct.

    • @AndrewJacksonSGC
      @AndrewJacksonSGC 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think it's a mistake -- it's in a few joseki books, not that that makes it right... At that point, i had an opinion about which side was bigger so i blocked. The biggest problem in that area is my move at 19:30 -- just connecting simply would've been fine.

      Andrew Jackson
      I really hate the fact that I KNOW there's a Battousai video where he comments on this exact same position.

      themanwiththepan post a link! Michael Redmond's "The ABCs of Attack and Defense" covers the double approach pretty extensively, let me see if i can dig up my old copy...

      Andrew Jackson I would if I could, but I can't remember the name of it. Just that he comments on it. :(

    Hey Nick, I just recently learned about go and have been fascinated by your content (also overwhelmed!). I 2as wondering if you had any suggestions for where I would learn more than just the rules of the game. Things like how far stones are generally played from each other and what those distances do for that stone. Would you ever consider doing a beyond the rules begging guide for go?

    • @Ryodakun
      @Ryodakun 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      That depends on the game really. There is no rule of thumb here as to how far to place stone. But there is some pointers. like on the second like it's often a good idea to leave 2 spaced inbetween your 2 stones as they make a pretty decent base. If running you best do 1 space jumps towards the the center since they're hard to split. If you have a upstanding wall of 2 stones, you can jump 3 spaces, and with a wall of 3 you can jump 4 spaces etc. But that's highly theoretical and not always true.

      His beginning videos were good, like #6 and 7 explained invasions and helped a bit. Also a wise proverb said lose 1000 games. Do that and you'' be bound to learn something. Im new to but you can also watch pro games or regular dan games on KGS

    I think that black can play 5-4 in the lower left at the end of the game. Result should be good for black
