1:50 - In April 2016, Iyama Yuta became the first player in Japanese history to hold all seven major titles simultaneously. One month after this video was posted
@nick, I think you missed a bit at 1:02:41. White can play J14 as sente against the K15 stones. Then the push at F18 becomes severe and the ko becomes very, very large. The full sequence is J14, J16, F18, F19, C18, C17, D19.
The fact that, despite me getting better steadily at the game and now being at 15 Kyu (I know, still shit tier), I see games like these and realize that it is so far beyond my capability to grasp what is going on is absolutely amazing me. Thanks for the great lesson!
I know I'm nearly a year late to this but would it be possible to request putting down who is black and who is white in your video description or somewhere on the screen for the game reviews? I find that I always tend to forget who's who and it'd be helpful. Thank you!
+Lunar Dusk It could be anything. He plays ultimate frisbee but since he's not saying, I'm guessing it's something he's not very proud of like trying and failing to show off while drunk.
Well, you can see later in the video that he can use the side where he supposedly has a broken rib. And if you pause at just the moment he places the stone, what shape do his arm, the board and the Ipad make? A triangle. Nick Sibicky is illuminati confirmed.
54:10 Perhaps you should take a look at the An Younggil (8p) commentary, at this point W is winning. He has been ever since B made the mistake of playing S4.
Iyama currently has 6 again and he is 1-0 up in his challenge for the judan, which would give him ALL 7. Also the 7 titles are honinbo, oza, meijin, judan, tengen, gosei, kisei.
This is the Ko that never ends. Yes it goes on and on my friends. The dragon made a factory , and now we just can't stop, 100 threats played later and Gu Li just gave up! This is the Ko that never ends!
If even if white wins that last ko on the top, doesn’t that group still just have one eye, then black can kill it and then slay the dragon? I feel like I’m missing something...
He lives in a mansion in Tokyo, rich as hell with stacks of dough YUTA - y-u-t-a yuutaaaa!!!! He's a great Go master of the 9th Degree, winning titles all day like it ain't no thing ohh my Yuta, Iyama yuuuuuttttaaaaaa!!! well they try to knock him off his perch, holding all the titles like the king of all earth, Guys, reply with more verses to the Yuta Fan song. Black's only winning if he can kill White's massive weak group (something like 20-30 stones). White started 2 ko fights and killed the upper black groups, so he ends up massively ahead. Even without counting the prisoners, he looks easily ahead.
my only issue with all you videos is if youre like me who is a ddk playing against other ddk. they wouldnt go for all of these ko threats they would just try to grab the ataris like the big black group at the top. so you cant exactly fight something like that.
It's slightly difficult to watch an awesome game and its review when you are showing this game to people who aren't good enough to appreciate this kind of skill.
Thank you for still making this despite being on medications and having a broken rib.

Wowwww, that was an incredible game. One of the best lectures I've seen on your channel, Nick! Thanks so much, I learned a ton.
This is a great lecture! So much better than the movie I paused this in the middle to watch.
Great lecture, thanks.
Curious about the rib, i'm sure we'll hear in good time.
this is incredible
reading out those ko threats after so much fighting seems like endless headache
That kid had a great question at the end, I was wondering the same thing.
I’m definitely not sure but i thought it was cuz white kept threatening to kill blacks groups of comparable size
Please do more about famous Go players with some information about their lifes etc. I like these videos a lot
This was an awesome game / game review! awsome content Nick!

Don't get discouraged, even low Dan players would easily get lost with this game
at the end,the lesson is,if nothing else work, start a giant fking ko for everything
Nice game choice

So... how did you break your rib?

Nick Sibicky is illuminati confirmed.
I expected some comments about the second Lee Sedol vs AlphaGo match. Maybe I am too early.
+Máté Molnár I assume he's waiting for all the games to be over to either go over the most interesting match or show some highlights from all of them
This lecture was recorded before the match and just finally uploaded. See my other AlphaGo video for thoughts!
+Nick Sibicky you should make a video what do you think about it after the games since it already won 2 games against lee

Black:Gu Li
White:Iyama Yuta
Why black plays 2times move 41 and 42?
I love Iyama Yuta.
Go lecture on pain killers?! If this was me, "Don't even worry about the cut. Can't hurt you anyway."
Man, this guy is crazy! That's my answer to "How do you feel about Iyama Yuta's style?"
Awesome game!

Why couldn't black cut at c17?
Isn’t Iyama Yuta killing it in the nongshim cup now?
Iyama Yuta is a god. He is so good.

why no I on the board ?
I'm curious how a teacher broke his rib outside of a car accident...
Iyama needs to fight alphago

I still don't understand why the Black resigned. To me it looks like he's winning in the end.

I find these lectures too difficult to understand. I'm not a complete beginner, but anxious to learn.
Jolyon Kay its a double-digit kyu class bro
Somewhere in the middle.
actually, Ku Li could have won the koh ("Jie" in Chinese) hands down, he just really gotta pee...
