For so long I believed he was just sick of being famous and killed off the "character" Peter Steele and went back to being just Petrus Ratajczyk, cool guy from Brooklyn. I wanted to believe it so bad, the author of so many of my favorite songs, my fucking favorite band and my spirit animal, gone... because they didn't catch an intestinal perforation in time? No... I cannot be.
But alas, the Green Man is truly gone.

As a long-haired 6'5" teenager who had just begun playing bass, when I saw this video on LOUD that was the moment Peter Steele became a hero of my adolescence. I didn't have his charm, his physique or his talent, but I'm pretty sure I spent a good 3 years of my young life trying to imitate him.

I wasted years and years worrying about what I looked like - I’ve been 5’11 since I was 11, was well built - as in I had broad shoulders, long arms and legs and big tits. I was paranoid as fuck about being built like a woman when I was still a young teen. I was shy and wouldn’t look at anyone all through childhood and well into my 20s. I used to drink a lot just to gain some confidence. I’m angry at the time I wasted at worrying about what others thought about me - I’m only just at the stage where I think “fuck it - life’s too short”. All of you guys are perfect - imagine how shitty the world would be if everyone looked the same or if everyone looked impeccably perfect. There’s no point wasting your life worrying about it - just do what makes you happy and fuck anyone who gives you a hard time, that’s their problem not yours. Seriously, take it from someone who wasted her youth on worrying….it’s not worth it and you’ll be much happier if you do what makes you feel good. I wish I could give each of you a big hug, but I’m from Scotland and too skint to travel! Don’t sweat the small stuff and you’ll soon feel much better - I promise x

It's kind of weird but interesting at the same time how the 90s had a lot of similarities to that of the 60s. Both were very interestingly creative periods ,both had were pushing the envelope when it came to sexual flair while keeping a level of class at the same time.

I wish Pete Steele was still alive. RIP I had the privilege of interviewing him and hanging out just a bit back in my radio days on Type O's Bloody Kisses tour. Dude was so kind, intelligent and sooo aware of what he was projecting in both Carnivore and Type O. Legit badass to the core.

My girlfriends girlfriend or ANYTHING on their album OCTOBER RUST, OR WORLD COMING DOWN . Peter Steele wrote everything, especially about his real life experiences and no matter how I'm feeling or what the subject matter is... If you feeling bad about something, his songs hit it right on the head and will make you feel better for some reason. But it never fails. He's about the best song writer and awesome voice that can never be replaced... Ever. That's why with dignity as well as the Ramstein philosophy... One member ever leaves, everyone calls it quits because no matter who it is in the band... 1 - it's really not that band anymore if all the originals aren't there because that's what made the band what it was. Button Type O negative case, there is no one that could replace Peter Steele and his one-of-a-kind soothing baritone vocal Style especially the lyrics he writes or should I say wrote. And the music world definitely sucks more without him in it.

Think about this, too:In just a 6-7 Week Period, back in the Spring of 2010, we lost not only Peter Steele from Type O Negative, but we lost two other Metal Legends:Bass Guitarist, and Founder of Slipknot, Paul Gray, passed away from an accidental drug overdose. He was only 38 Years Old. We also lost Dio Singer Ronnie James Dio, from Stomach Cancer. He was, I think, 67 Years Old.
It was as if the very bottom dropped out of Metal, at least in a large part. To me, as well as to all of us, each Death was completely unexpected, and very jarring, to have to deal with. These Deaths were a complete shock to the system!

jesus christ his voice was so consitently deep in this. before this, i consistently listened to songs off of bloody kisses, which have more of a variation is the depth of his voice. this is so consistently deep and i love it

This video was the first time I was introduced to Type O Negative, on Kerrang TV back in 2002 when I was 15. I bought October Rust on a day trip to North Wales the next week. I'd never heard anything like this before, but i was in love straight away. They've been my favourite band ever since. The world misses Pete Steele
