I don't want to get to mushy, but I just watched your "Changed my life..." video and it totally spoke to me. I've been lurking a little while but I had to sub and enable notifications. I've been riding off and on for about 21 years, I really cut my teeth on an RM250 and rode a bunch of street bikes also. Recently I've got the family into mini bikes and I'm working them up to "real" bikes. I think the 300 XCW is right up my alley. BTW I'm big into ARs and Tac shooting as well. Love the videos man, I'm so glad I found your channel.
Our local XC terrain is rock, roots and muskeg and even though it is a soft terrain tire the IRC M5B is the go to tires for many here, they work well and last well too.
Rear tires are so easy to understand. Front tires are where I've always had issues. I've always had issues with rock deflection and tires trying to climb up out of ruts. I ended up with Golden 216s on two of my bikes and was very happy with them, until I got a flat and they turned into wishy-washy melted marshmallows ever after (even at 16+ psi). That made me wish I'd stuck with the cracked and rotted 15yo tires the old Husky came with.
I'm running the Kenda ibex front with tubliss. It's awesome in the southern Appalachian hill country. Before I was running a Dunlop mx52 front, it was a pretty good tire too. Better than everything else I've ridden. But the Kenda Ibex is worth checking out. It's soft though, so don't go to low on the air pressure.
The Dunlop Mx 33 is a good tire all round . I just got back into riding I bought myself a Yamaha WR 2023 250f uncorked it and wow what a bike the stalk tires are impressive on that bike. I got 3000 km out of that tire an now I’m going to the mx34 hybrid gummy tire
My 2 favorite front tires are the goldentyre 216aa and the michelin starcross 5 soft both in 90/100-21 Im really picky when it comes to front tires I've gone through so many front tires looking for one I like.
It does depend a bit on what your usage is when choosing a tyre. Motocross tyres front and rear tend to have better grip, but most are not street legal, and none are FIM approved, so if like me you do forest enduros that include road work, then tyres must be FIM approved so that narrows your choice down. I used to run the OLD Michelin Comp tyres, but now run the new Michelin Mediums. I also run tubliss and use the 90/100 fatty, great for hitting rocks and logs a bit harder than you intend to.
Starcross 5 medium is my go to tire here in Australia! Out of the many tires this is sure my favourite! Not sure what to call them but I feel the slight ridges in between the tread blocks help either clear mud or provide more grip when tread blocks are squished down.
If you havent yet, try the Goldentyre Gt216aa in the 90/90/21 profile. Slightly larger foot print than the MX tires but not so much sidewall that the front end feels dead like the fattys. And the goldentyre just grips on everything. Nex time you need a new tire, give it a try! Mud, rocks, roots, slick rock and creek beds, GNCC races, the tir just never lets ya down.
Thank you, I am going to try the M59 you made me decide, had the AT81 before and the michelin starcross 5 intermediate. would like to try something else.
Ever since I went gummy rear, the front end wash out has been an issue for higher speed cornering. I know you can't have it all, but I have yet to try the famous M59.
How have you not tested the GT216aa Fatty yet? It really is one of the best tires made. Not the best tire for the track, but for general enduro riding, it's awesome.
EddyEnduro the Shinko 216 is not the same - it’s 2 lbs heavier than the GT - I’ve tested both and you can feel the difference. GT last twice as long too.

I found the shinko 546 washed out in corners more so than the stock Dunlop at81. As for the rear I’m a huge fan of shinko 505. The 525 holds too much mud for my conditions
Why do you run Tubliss over bibs? Especially now that they came out with their “plushie” bibs. have you tried them? I run the plushie bib (nitromouse) in the front and the traditional bib (nitromouse) in rear. Something to consider. I ran tubliss for 2 years but never going back now that i tried bibs especially after getting sick of flats and checking tire pressure every ride.
Yeah. I also love metzeler 6days extreme... Great tyre, but it is popular mostly in Europe. I doubt Kyle will hace access to metzeler 6days extreme....
What type of riding are you guys doing with the 6d extreme? I had one on mine and really didn’t like it, seemed to really lack grip both cornering and braking. I’ve got a Michelin Tracker on now, cos I wanted something road legal, and it seems like a much better tyre (front - the rear is no good). I find I can brake a lot harder than with the 6d, although I’ve not had chance to use it in wet mud yet.
Have you used the Maxxis Desert IT? Most versatile and heavy duty tire I've ran in years, plus with tublis system its absolutely mind blowing how low of pressure you can run on the trails
I have used them many times. Used them nearly exclusively for several years. Wears like Iron. Performance suffers because of that though. Not on my list of top tires these days.

Thanks for the video. Quick question would a 90 be more stable for a new trail rider? I ride an older wr250f running 80/100/21 and feel the front wanting to wash out on me every chance it gets! (The current 80 is brand new & I've adjusted psi back and forth) could be lack of skills/experience on my part but thinking about putting a 90 on to regain some confidence/control. Thoughts? Thank you for the content! Take care!

I put a kenda trackmaster II on my KLX 300. I’m new to riding a dual sport with a knobby front tire on pavement. Is it normal for a knobby tire to dive abruptly into corners? It also no longer tracks down the road effortlessly in a straight line, it feels like it falls a couple degrees off center, in either direction( if that makes sense) The bike handled incredibly smooth and predictable with the Dunlop 605 on pavement but off-road felt like it could give out any moment on corners and obstacles. Is there a Knobby tire that may handle better on pavement but still be aggressive off-road in your opinion?

546 tyre is horrible imo, it pushes and it wants to climb out of everything, it always goes were u dont want it too!!@
The AT81 is literally one of the worst front tires ever created. MX3S, or MX33 over that piece of shit any day.
Well that was a waste of 7.46 min. The Dunlop mx33 is 10 times better than the at. Matter of fact the mx33 is better than all 3 of your choices. And we don’t ride skinny motocross tires on off-road terrain buddy. Good try though 😂
