    Deciding on a front tire is driving me nuts. Riding in Hawaii is considerably different than west cost mainland and going from a 2 stroke 300 to a 500 exc, they handle much different. good fun testing though.

    Just ordered the VX30 to try out, wanted the M5BEVO but it's not available in my area yet. I will be trying both eventually. If they can match the performance of the VE33S gummy I have on the rear I'll be happy.

      I just mounted the M5B front on tubliss. For mountain single track I think it will be good. It’s not too soft, not too hard. I think I am gonna switch back to mousse’s, but with the way it’s constructed whether it’s on tubliss or a mousse it should be a really grippy front.

    Thanks Rich. You suggested me a M5BEvo rear tire for the soft and muddy Northeast terrain. Boy, this tire hooks up so well. Now it's time for my front tire. I'm a slow single-track guy. So, I guess your recommendation is M5B again.

    I wish this breakdown came out last week! I just picked up an M5B Evo and rode it for the first time last night.
    For what I ride, which is tight fast singletrack, I don't care for it. Everything you mention in this video is exactly what I experienced.
    Its unstable at speed, squirrely in the soft rocky stuff and just too thin overall.
    I wish, wish, wish I'd have gotten the VX30 instead.
    Thanks for the detailed breakdown!

    • @IRCTireUSAMoto
      @IRCTireUSAMoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think the VX30 will do you well.
      In the mean time, make sure to run higher pressures in the M5BEVO front. That will add more stability at speed. If I'm riding faster terrain I will add two to three psi. Some where around 14 to 15 pounds on the front.

    Hi Rich. I run trails in New England. KTM 300 xcw. Roots, rocks ,mud, sand, berms, no berms. Some faster open track. I am on my 2nd ve33s for the rear. Excellent all around tire. I run bridgestone x31 on the front now. Also excellent tire. What are your thoughts on the ve35f? I am waiting to install it this spring. It is a softer compound than what I usually run up front.

    Im torn between the mx34 or the vx30 all around.

    Thanks!

    I was hoping you might talk more about wear characteristics between the two tires, specifically does the compound have an effect on the rate that the side knobs fall off. Kinda the way you showed that gummy rears fall apart quickly at high speeds.
    Because I feel like with the tires I run currently on the front, the side knows rip off at the base before wearing down kinda like a gummy rear tire. Is that just how all front tires are or is it because the compound is too soft of stiff?

    What do you think about the VX30 rear tire, I'm an enduro guy but not hard or extreme enduro, it's time for me to replace my rear tire and was thinking about trying the VX30, is it maybe an updated version of the standard VE33 which is a good tire for all around trail use, you may think you ramble on but there is always a lot of valuable and useful information in your ramblings so keep on rambling.

      Haha! Thanks for listening to the Ramble! We won't be stopping anytime soon!
      The VX30 is great for all around riding! I'd say it's more an updated original compound IX09W. Its will perform extremely well in enduro single track situations!

    • @IRCTireUSAMoto

      Well The IX09W was a great intermediate front tire. The goal was to make both front tires that out perform the IX09W front in all ways. I believe we have hit the mark with both.

    What size mousse for the M5B 80/100?

    • @IRCTireUSAMoto
      @IRCTireUSAMoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      An 80-100 work ok but once it wears in it’s too soft I prefer a 90/90 in the 80-100.

    • @WASemiHardEnduro
      @WASemiHardEnduro 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@IRCTireUSAMoto Which brand? Nitro sizes their mousses on circumference, not tire size (cuz like you say, not all 80/100s are the same size).

  • @f18a
    @f18a 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Great vid, but I disagree on one key point. I believe that there is *no* good reason for actual tire sizing to vary from the manufacturer's spec. If IRC says "80/100" I expect 80x80 dimensions. If IRC wants another tire model to be wider, call it...I dunno..."90/90"! The dirt bike world would be a lot better off without voodoo sizing. Just label it for what it is!

    • @WASemiHardEnduro
      @WASemiHardEnduro 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't disagree, but can you imagine the confusion from buyers wondering if a 84/100-21 or a 95/90-21 fits their bike? I personally would prefer it, but it would be a mess.
