- Video created with support from Syil Machine tool in Houston Texas.
Footage from an earlier mold base that i made using our Syil X7 almost 2 years ago.
End mill: .375" - 5 Flute
Tool Holder - Tegara ER20
Steel being cut - A36
nice are you going to do some 3d milling aswell on video? If you wanna try a smooth chamfer cuter you should look at a Guhring spyrotec chamfer mill
Do you have the BT or HSK spindle? Also, what kind of radial cut are you taking? I'm curious as to why the sfm is so slow in A36. For me, 300 sfm is more of a stainless steel value.
Are you limited by the spindle's hp/tq output or the endmill? I run 3/8 5-flute endmills in 4130 anywhere between 600-900 sfm. 1" doc and .038 radial doc (stepover), .002 fpt.
Been looking at Syil machines (X7 5-axis in particular) for a while now and your channel is one of the few I've seen with Syil on display. Keep up the great work!
manages tool wear and chatter. this particular A36 seemed to have hard spots....I rarely cut this stuff...so just ran the same feeds and speeds i normally use for P20
It’s BT30. No need to push a little mill, especially when you are the one paying for the spindle.
I own a Syil X7 with 4 axis, be careful of the work envelope for 5 axis, and that the controller you choose has the necessary 5 axis post processor available to you.
The Syil X7 is a fantastic mill for its size, mine is 2.5yrs old now and has been working faultlessly.
@@MrRctintin Awesome, thanks for the reply. Yea the smallest spindles we have at our shop are a couple CAT40 haas vf's. Have a couple CAT50s (Okuma and OKK) and an HSK100 horizontal Okuma; so we can push quite a bit more than a BT 😁
So far I've heard nothing but good things about Syil, so we may look into one in the future!
Wait, You faced this chunk of steel with an endmill?!
i dont have a BT30 shell mill for steel
and this machine has a 20k high speed spindle we never intended to cut steel
running that way to slow
