@@11x334 a lifetime of gaming has given me incredible reflexes, I can't count the amount of times I've snatched falling cups and dishes out of the air for example, or I'm ridiculously good at being a handball goalie, especially because I'm American and had never played it before, just pure reflex.

I really feel for him not doing his dishes, it's a textbook example of depression where daily tasks become these insurmountable obstacles and the only things you are able to achieve are what still gives you some semblance of pleasure (such as computer games). Personally I have trouble doing a lot of stuff but I still have it in me to get something done when I feel it's affecting my quality of life...

5:20 i believe train is advantaged for PAL because the watch laser fires more frequently on PAL. (Higher fire rate)
I don't know if this has been mentioned either but you are less likely to get shot on Pal too.

Truly can't complement properly Ace for his abilities over the years. The passion/love he has for this game is possibly unmatched. Goose has been so busy lately because of him, and we thank you for all the work covering this incredible time in Speedrunning Goldeneye history!
You know what would be really nice, is a showcase of movement tech on how people perform certain movement tech in greater detail that gets them faster movement and how they're applied to each specific stage, or performing a particular glitch like the R-Lean glitch for passing through specific walls like on Bunker 2's Cell Escape, or the roller door on Depot just before the Train, because there are no videos on such things for Goldeneye, and it's only mainly focused on how someone achieved a fast time on any stage.

Man I picked a really great time to get into Speedrunning. Haven't watched this video yet, but seems like I started watching just in time for all the stagnated (for lack of a better term) records to get shattered. This is great lol, thanks goose. You're actually the one that got me into watching stuff like this.
Might I suggest 'venerable' in place of 'stagnant.' It suggests age and respect but can also hint at outdated if that's what you're going for.

Years ago I used to watch your streams saying "The Goose is Loose" and I'm so happy to see you have a channel that's mostly dedicated to Goldeneye. I recently downloaded the release on my Xbox Series X and unlocked all of the cheats. Makes me want to get into speedrunning myself :)

I think this video was better than average and I'm not sure why. I think just the elements tied together nicely. The three kings, the True Faith, and the PAL/NTSC issues.
The idea that new discoveries are still being made is mindboggling. Speaks testaments the the love and passion there is for this game. One of the best of all time, I posit.

Yeah those locks always kick my ass. But considering I just watched a clip last week showing Ace just full boar sprint thru the bunker and yet still be able to maintain skill and accurcy to [Without slowing down the MADMAN!] One shot, one kill each camera.
So if i'm about to find out when I unpause the video that he was able to do something similar with hatch locks. I wouldn't be all that surprised, Ace pretty much commands GE to his will anymore 😂😂

TRULY remarkable!
Just a quick point about the performance and why PAL would likely perform better. AFAIR most if not all N64 games used vsync which means their frame updates must be done in sync with the diaplay's refresh rate. In this situation if for some reason the frame cannot be completely processed in time for the next refresh blank then it must wait it out for the next one - effectively halving the framerate.
For example, at a refresh rate of 30 on NTSC that only gives you 33.3~ milliseconds to process your frame. If it takes, say, 37 milliseconds you've missed your window for this frame and now have to wait it out for the NEXT blank in about 29 milliseconds. This is just lost time and now your effective fps are 15 instead of 30. On the other hand, if you are displaying on PAL your display refreshes at 25 Htz which means each frame has a total time of 40 milliseconds to work with. In the same example above, if it took 37 milliseconds to process the frame then it will be ready in time for the next vblank so you'll maintain 25 fps.
I boost off the left of the middle two guards and it saves around 3 seconds. None of the top runners are doing it yet so there is still time to save
Stay tuned in a few days when he gets Agent 56. Maybe even untieds on Train once he receives a PAL TV.

Only 14 seconds to beat until the total combined time will be under 1hour and 10 minutes. It's the best it can go since I don't think anyone will see the day it goes under an hour.
Using PAL over NTSC is something we do in the handheld emulator community as well. NTSC running at ~83% speed is equal to PAL running at 100%. It just makes sense to use the easier to run version so you run into less stutters and reduces the severity of the dips in frames.

pal vs ntsc is probably perception, when game is running slow better to have more constant frames like15-25 fps can feel better than 15-30fps range

PAL games have less frames to generate, and you've got more time in between frames, so fewer drops are required.
This only really counts if they took the time to optimise for PAL, which most didn't

If I could hazard a guess. PAL is probably faster due to very specific situations where a frame would take between 3 and 4 ms to compute. In this situation, the frame would have been skipped on NTFS, but not on PAL. In the worst case scenarios, this wouldn't matter, as it would take 4-6 ms to compute. So these gains would be found in marginal situations on the cusp when NTFS starts to lose frames.
I believe that this exactly what's happening. All logic needs to be handled between each frame and that's why PAL has a bit more time to do things in complex scenarios, dropping fewer frames. (Like you said :P)
Does ace have any weaker records in his timesheet? I've been following this channel for awhile but don't know enough to look at the levels and know what's strong, there's a couple level that I think are awful, that one that has the spiral ramp and objectives through walls that you blow up by unloading, and the statue one and jungle one, the problem with bad levels is that it's no fun to grind them out but I'd assume that Ace already has strong times even on the states he doesn't like very much.
Ace is one of those players who just plays what they feel like rather than trying to optimize all of their times for the rankings. I'm sure he has some weak times that he just can't be arsed to improve. Only WR or more interests him it seems.
