    My understanding [from 4th way teaching ] of negative emotions is that they should not be expressed -1. because that would be to identify with them and magnify them - i think that is why people often end up spending years in therapy, and 2. because there is no centre for negative emotions [that is why little children are happy until taught otherwise] and so negative thoughts are not real. I would add that from my experience, the less you express negative thoughts, the fewer you have.
