My local Dollar Tree sells a brand of shelf-stable milk called Marcel's Modern Pantry. It lasts about a year, doesn't need to be refrigerated until opened and tastes great. It comes in 1% 2% and whole milk varieties.
The very first "prepper" thing I ever did was create a dollar tree first aid kit. I got a inexpensive tackle box and stocked up. I rotate regularly to keep on top of dates. I'm confident if i need to bug out i can grab it and go! We are a family of 6---4 are girls so we have to be mindful of our additional "needs". Can't wait to see your first aid kit--maybe you thought of things i didn't!
Last trip to DT I looked for himalayan pink salt in grocery... none there. Found some in bigger bags in bath/first aid sold as a bath salt soak, ingredients were nothing but 100% pink himalayan pink salt. It looks like a rock salt but bought 2 anyway. It's still pink salt, they no longer have the 1 pound bags of the fine grind in grocery. Trickery at its finest. Next time you go try a can of the southgate beef stew (1.25) It's a good deal and cheaper than the bigger name brand cans. It's dinner in a can and have a few cases of the chili/stew. It can always be dressed up with your preferred spices and served over rice, pasta or whatever your imagination comes up with. Plain jane is cool too but I add a few spices to the chili and some creole/chili seasoning. Let me know what you think about the beef stew. I ordered mine online and picked up at the store when the email said it was pick up time. Otherwise they charge out of the rear for shipping to your door. Thanks for sharing Grey! Nice job on the shopping.
Really like your idea but i'll add some more band aids and regular use items, like painkillers and gauze, you'll use a ton of gauze to treat only 1 injury prolonged so i'll definetly stock up on more of that
@Alessandro-tf5xh I agree! I never did a follow-up on the medical pantry tour I did a while back, but after consulting with local EMT/paramedics and a few nurses, I have started to buy bulk items from medical suppliers. Bulk gauze, tape, bandages, and so on. I'll have to do an update here soon. Thanks so much for watching! Have a great day. 😁👍
The Bruce's Yams are cheaper at the DT than Walmart ($1.54) I buy that Asparagus for the spouse. 👍😀 Love those cookies but prefer the large cans too.😋 Nice video, Grey. I always love watching haul videos. Blessings.💙
Hey me and the hubby have something in common lol. I plan on having some this week to try them out. I noticed they had some good deals on some things and did not so much on others. I learned a lot about that dollar tree this week though and made a friend in the process. 😁 God bless JT 💛🙏
The big issue with dented cans is the integrity of the can is lost and the food inside will spoil much quicker than the best buy date. Not good for long-term storage if that's the intention.
Thank you, Shirley! That was my late grandmother's name 😊 and there seems to be a lot of interest in the 72-hour kit. So I'll definitely be adding it to my list of future videos 💛👍
Love the boxed milk buy by the case got so tired of buying fresh milk & spoiling with couple days after purchase u can get 1% 2% or whole like the 2% they now have oat mik which I tried & is good too
Asparagus is very easy to grow. It took a few years for my patch to become productive, but over fifty years later it still provides more than I can use and share with my son's family. Canned vegetables are generally less expensive at Wal-Mart or Aldi.
Just found your channel! Wow! I eat asparagus from jar as a snack w/a bit of parmesan sprinkled over. Àlso bread and butter pickles are a great buy...or were when it was $1. Going to watch more episodes of your show now!!❤😊
That's great to hear Betty! Folks who live in areas that suffer from blizzards, ice storms, and extreme temperatures should take extra precaution. Stay safe! 🙏💛
Check out the elementary schools as well they always need donations for their backpack food program for the kids . I'm always donating stuff from Sam's club.
That's an awesome haul! The states has much more selection in their dolor trees than Canada does. You'd never get that much in my area at dollar tree for under 100$. Dollar tree is 1.50 here. Was so bummed out when prices went up from 1.25.
Many Canadians have said that a lot of the food in Canada is very pricey and it keeps rising. Food cost here in the U.S. Has gone up, some items have increased by 25-50% for certain items since early 2021
@@muskokaoma7470 WoW! 8$ for lettuce that's just ridiculous. It's probably cheaper to start a garden at that point if possible, but yes I agree I think they'll continue to rise unfortunately 😔
@@GreyManPrepping I did start a fall garden of lettuce leaf and spinach. I was late getting it planted though but it's growing. Hopefully I'll get at least a good amount of spinach to freeze.

I am new to food pantry and preparedness. Because of the state of our economy, I am beginning food storage. I have quite a few things that are already stored up. I have a couple of curiosities. First, does it benefit us to buy things that we typically would not eat? Secondly, where do you begin with purchasing? We have about a months worth of food now but definitely need more stock.
Hello 👋 😁 So to answer your questions, When starting out I mainly focus on the foods you & your family eat. Whenever I'm shopping If I see deals like Bogo's I'll grab one for the regular pantry and a 2nd for the emergency pantry. You'll see things starting to build up from there. It takes time to build up a large food stock, but at least you are starting and that's great to hear. Once you get to a minimum of about 3 months that's usually the first milestone. I'm working on a year's worth in this pantry that I built last year. I have other long-term food storage locations, but I designed this one to help others. I've been doing this roughly for about 15 years. The key is slow & steady wins the race. Once you get in the routine you'll look back a year from now and say wow! Oh, the only time I purchase other foods is either for barter items, friends or family that gave dietary restrictions and instances like that, but focus on you and your family first. That can come later. Hopefully that helps answer your questions. Have a blessed day 😁🙏
Our dollar tree is very small, smallest in Indiana,if not the entire USA! Very rarely do I see name-brand stuff in there and this week I won't even go there because it'll be all picked out clean. First week of the month every store looks like it's been hit by a mob of people. I'm happy that most everything you bought is name brand.Good job✝️❤️
Shop from their website. They ship to the store nearest to you on their usual delivery day. Once your order is checked in you just go and pick it up. The concession is that you can't order 1 or 2 of something. You have to order a case. Depending on what you're ordering that could be 6 - 18 per box.
I have an issue with Dollar Tree. They have refused to fix the air conditioner. Summer temps over 100°. 108° last time I shopped there. Now if temps inside reach 85° its closed usually around 11am.The poor hot employees. I'm worried about shelf life in heat. Cans of sauce, vegies, flour? Even first aid cremes. I'm worried about what I purchased before I realized the a/c was constantly broken. I now drive 45 minutes to the next town to shop at a wonderful Dollar Tree. I would like your opinion on this. Your stock up was great. Thank you.
Wow, that's crazy, and a lot of foods & medications don't do well in that type of heat. According to the USDA fact sheet, canned foods are safe indefinitely if not exposed to temperatures below freezing or above 90 °F and When it comes to medications, high temperatures for too long can cause medications to degrade and become ineffective or even harmful. I'd definitely be very cautious. Such a shame for customers as well as employees. Glad you decided to shop at another location. 🙏
Thank you very much . Your response helped me a lot. I will shop Dollar Tree but one that is cooled properly. Very sad it's a much needed store in these times. Many have to shop there. Thanks again.
This was a great haul. I’m gonna check out my local dollar tree ❤ I would love to see the 72 hr kit . We have been prepping for a long time but I am always looking for new ideas . I always see things that we are missing in our storage
Thanks so much, Terri! And I'm planning to do the 72-hour kit here in the next month or so 😁 I watch a lot of haul videos myself to gather ideas. Have a great weekend 🙏💛

shelf stable milk, any and all pickles, most all the preserves and canned fruit. Word is they are going to get 32 oz cans of peaches. Haven't made it to my store yet. Great hall, hope this helps.
I went shopping at Aldi yesterday and they had the German Jaffa cookies filled with strawberry or orange for 99 cents good til Nov 1st. Sounds like a plan ! So I bought one of each ,they are usually over 3 bucks a pop. Dollar tree has these German shortbread cookies in lemon and plain oh man they are so yummy and my dollar tree has entenmans donuts poundcakes and mini pies for 1,25 compared to reg price of 3,99 and higher.heck yeah plus the carton Milk get it get and get it ,for stock up .cereal I found from Post company, super size box . Also tortilla flats and spices between Aldi and Walmart a DT it's good to save cash 😁👏👍
Glad you are looking for and keeping away from bioengineering food. It's crazy how much "almost everything" in the center of the grocery is bioengineered anymore. Bioengineered is ok for shtf but not in the rotational pantry!!! Thanks for the video, great haul. I used to use Braggs, not anymore. They were bought by a couple of celebs
I've noticed that a lot more foods contain them, it's truly a shame what they are doing to our food supply. Yeah, I agree in a true shtf anything would be up for grabs at that point. So many mom-and-pop companies are getting sold off to big corporations and celebs. Thank you Gmac, Have a great night 🙏
Great video. If I am near a DT I stop in--you never know what you are going to find. I have found some great deals but you do have to inspect dates and conditions of the product.
i had that lunchion loaf, the other day, fry it up some, good for breakfast and lunch as well. This is a pork product, hame. Has good taste. not salty.
This looks great! I love Dollar Tree! I am a label reader too. If it has bad inflammatory oils (veg, canola, palm), "natural flavor", soy, and labeled bioengineered, I do not buy. I try to make sure the label reads as Non-GMO, especially for veggies. Shopping this way is a challenge for sure. I stock up on the Del Monte canned potatoes as they are much higher at Wal-Mart. That pink salt at my Wal-mart is almost $5. The Bruce's yams are great! I have heard good things about the jarred asparagus, my store is always out... Their bagged beans and lentils are great and Non-GMO. Let us know how the chili is!
You need to make a list of the most common gmo foods. If you are going to eat processed foods, you are going to get gmo. If there is sweetner, its most likely from beet sugar or corn syrup. Both gmo. If they are using cane sugar, they will proudly tell you. Anything with soy or corn. Thats just about everything. Oils --- corn soy canola cotton seed. I dont like the idea of everything being gmo. Its made that way so it can be sprayed with weed killer. I cant make everything from scratch, so grin and bear it the best i can. I love dollar tree hauls. There are several products cheaper there. And they have products from other countries that dont use as much gmo stuff. Enjoyed watching.
Thank you for sharing your information, it's greatly appreciated, that is a great idea 😁👍 Have a great day and thank you for taking the time to watch my video 🙏
Yes to the 36 hour emergency packs. I have tried the DT asparagus and it's ok. I use it in omelets as it's very thin and soft. I don't go to the DT very often because it's always a mess, the floor is always dirty and the food section is never well stocked.
Thanks for sharing, I've noticed depending on what location you go to I've seen similar issues. We have about 10 in my county and the one in the wealthy neighborhood is always nice and stocked. It's a shame they don't hold all their locations to the same standard. 😔
I have Mountain House, Augasons Farms, and Nutrient Survival. They are #10 cans of freeze-dried foods. They have the best shelf life of most foods. They just need water to rehydrate. They do have a higher cost vs other food items like canned goods and so on. Hopefully, that helped answer your question. If anything you're more than welcome to email me. All my contact info is below each video. Please have a great weekend 😁🙏
Some good buys there. Will definitely pickup the asparagus and vinegar. Not sure if it was chili or soup, but i had a Southgate can of something and I couldn't finish it. Bland. Hope the chili is good for ya.
As long as your aware of prices it can be worthwhile. I also look out for the stuff that is made in China, I won't buy them. I did a haul this weekend at a chef store. If you compare prices from like at Sam's they have a better selection on #10 cans and produce.
Agreed, Hence why I love shopping at GFS which was the last pantry haul video I did, but many folks left comments about budget and Dollar Tree so I figured I'd give it a run 😁
There seems to be a lot of interest in building the 72-hour kit. I will definitely do a follow-up to this video. Hmm, recipes that is also a great idea thank you. Have a great weekend Tricia 😁🙏
It's definitely a budget-friendly option for folks who are just getting into prepping. They do have some good deals on certain products like medical, and some general household items that I noticed while looking around that day. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch my video 😁🙏
Get the tuna in oil. Canned oil will not go rancid. In an emergency calories matter. Any oil can be used in cooking. You can add it to rice, beans or pasta. Use it to fry eggs or potatoes. Use it in baking. Yes, the flavor may be different in assorted uses but not bad. You may even like the added tuna essence in many foods.
So I have Tuna in oil just in a higher rotation. Tuna in oil has about four times as much fat as tuna in water. So from a preparedness perspective, yes it's high caloric and the oil can be used for other things. My biggest concern was something that happened when my grandpa passed away. He had canned Tuna from the 80's the tuna in oil was rancid and had a very bad odor and green tinge to it. It was 14 cans total, he also had 23 cans of tuna in water and they were perfect. So that being said yes tuna in oil has many benefits and must be kept in a good rotation, 3-5 years versus tuna in water that can store long-term for 10-15 years. This is just my perspective with the added experience I went through. I do have to say tuna in oil especially about 5-7 months in has awesome flavor! 😁👍
Just came upon your video on my feed. I would buy most of what you bought except for the Chili and the Luncheon Loaf. I have bought the Shelf Stable Milk there several times and it really comes in handy for baking . Also, the Cherry Pie Filling is another great buy ! You did a great haul !

This was a very good haul! I would love to see a 72hr kit as well. I’ve gotten some really good prep items from them.
Thank you, and yeah I figured it may help folks on a budget or give someone ideas about what a 72-hour kit consists of. Thanks so much for watching. 😁🙏
Hi, Jara over at Wicked Preparedness has a couple videos she put together that are kit based.
Nice !!! 😎
Thank you Sunset 😁👍
Great haul. Wish I had a running vehicle because I'd go straight to $1.25 Tree. 😁
Ty for sharing. 🙏
Thank you and my pleasure 😁🙏
Look for Hungry Jack hashbrowns they come in a carton
Will do, thank you Tracy 😁
They are good and storable too!
My local Dollar Tree sells a brand of shelf-stable milk called Marcel's Modern Pantry. It lasts about a year, doesn't need to be refrigerated until opened and tastes great. It comes in 1% 2% and whole milk varieties.
I've heard so much about this milk, I'm definitely looking for this in multiple locations 😁👍
Thanks for sharing Kathryn 😁 I'm working on putting that kit together. Hopefully, I'll have that out on the channel soon! 💛
Great tip about the heartburn. Thanks
Happy to help 😁
Thank you for all the suggestions! 😁🙏
@@GreyManPrepping for sure bro💪 keep up the good content
@@Alessandro-tf5xh Thank you! I truly appreciate the support. 🙏
The pink salt is a great price. It is great if you can food. Especially meat.
Sewing kit tins!
Great idea Natalie 😁👍
I got beef gravy, canned for $1.25! This is a steal, considering its generally almost 3.00 a can at Publix, etc. 👍
That's a great deal Ruth! 😁👍
Great vid! Yes please do a 72hr.
Thank you and yes that is on the board on videos to get done 😁👍
It's very interesting that you are saying that your Dollar tree have dented cans like Walmart have been getting a lot of dented cans
The big issue with dented cans is the integrity of the can is lost and the food inside will spoil much quicker than the best buy date. Not good for long-term storage if that's the intention.
I would like to see you put a 72 hour kit together. Great haul thanks for sharing.
Thank you, Shirley! That was my late grandmother's name 😊 and there seems to be a lot of interest in the 72-hour kit. So I'll definitely be adding it to my list of future videos 💛👍
Love the boxed milk buy by the case got so tired of buying fresh milk & spoiling with couple days after purchase u can get 1% 2% or whole like the 2% they now have oat mik which I tried & is good too
I've heard a lot about the box milk, it's on my next shopping list 😁👍
Asparagus is very easy to grow. It took a few years for my patch to become productive, but over fifty years later it still provides more than I can use and share with my son's family. Canned vegetables are generally less expensive at Wal-Mart or Aldi.
I would love to start an asparagus patch, but we have to wait til we get our land. Which hopefully will be within the next 2 years 🤞
Just found your channel! Wow! I eat asparagus from jar as a snack w/a bit of parmesan sprinkled over. Àlso bread and butter pickles are a great buy...or were when it was $1. Going to watch more episodes of your show now!!❤😊
@@carolconklin2346 Welcome to the channel Carol 😁🙏 Thank you for the support! Hope you have a wonderful weekend. 💛
I just finished part of winter prepping
That's great to hear Betty! Folks who live in areas that suffer from blizzards, ice storms, and extreme temperatures should take extra precaution. Stay safe! 🙏💛
Great video. I need some of those tins.I have a lot of what not.
We have found so many users for them, from my large ones to the smaller ones. I look at it as the gift that keeps on giving 😁👍
Good 💡, thanks for the information

Check out the elementary schools as well they always need donations for their backpack food program for the kids . I'm always donating stuff from Sam's club.
That's a great idea Debra, thank you! 😁👍
Good DT run.
Thank you 😁🙏
That's an awesome haul!
They're right. A lot is very pricey. It doesn't seem like their will ever be an end to the rising costs. 8$ for lettuce leaves. Today.
Inspiring indeed!!!
Thank you Candice 😁🙏
I absolutely love this video. I'm new to prepping, and I'm happy can do this on a tight budget
It was a highly requested video 😁 There are many ways to budget prep and I figured I'd try to show some ideas moving forward to help new folks who are just starting their journey. 😊 I'm Truly glad you found the video helpful 🙏
I love their peaches!
That's great to hear! I'll have to give them a go 😁👍
I am new to food pantry and preparedness.
Have a blessed day 😁🙏
Dollar tree has ready rice that would be great in a go bag.
Great suggestion 😁👍
Apple vinegar good for heartburn as well, being used it for awhile for different reason also.
Awesome tip, thank you 😁👍
Our dollar tree is very small, smallest in Indiana,if not the entire USA! Very rarely do I see name-brand stuff in there and this week I won't even go there because it'll be all picked out clean. First week of the month every store looks like it's been hit by a mob of people. I'm happy that most everything you bought is name brand.Good job✝️❤️
Wow, really that's a shame, I can only imagine in a disaster scenario how things would end up. Stay safe and God bless 🙏💛
@@susieramick7202 My pleasure Susie 😁🙏

shelf stable milk, any and all pickles, most all the preserves and canned fruit. Word is they are going to get 32 oz cans of peaches. Haven't made it to my store yet.
Great hall, hope this helps.
It really does thank you Terrie 😁🙏
Awesome deals thank you! Looks like Im headed to Aldis after work tomorrow 🤣👍
I have a few of these cookie tins that I use for firestarting materials, plus you can char material in them
That's actually a great idea 💡 😁
Thanks for the idea!!
Try the UHT milk at DT No refrigeration needed. 6 month shef live. Half the price of Walmart.
I will definitely add that to the list, thank you! 😁
Great video. I shop at DT a couple times per month. They have some good deals on medical preps like bandages and wraps, too.
Thank you and yep I had my eye on several nice med preps as I cruised the aisles 😁👍
You can also stock up on Vienna sausages. They are good to put in macaroni and cheese barbecue flavor and original.
Absolutely, I showed them on another haul I did, my daughter loves them, finger snacks or additions to meals. 😁👍
I love the Dollar Tree 🌲😊
I was happy with the DT that I visited and the variety of products. I did see some nice options for other items as well 😁👍
I'm in NJ and looks like the same products available here. Appreciate your videos!
Thank you 😁🙏
Glad you are looking for and keeping away from bioengineering food.
Agreed 😁👍
Check the labels - many items contain bioengineered ingredients. I like the canned pumpkin and hunts pasta sauces.
I've noticed it's becoming more and more frequent 🤯
I think you did a great job ❤
Thanks so much 😁🙏
Nice haul. You can also use your cookie tin for making char cloth.
Great idea Dave, Thabk you.
Great video. We have gotten several preps from the DT. The absolute worst is there corned beef hash. One of my favorite....oven ready pasta.
Thanks for the tips! 😁👍
Excellent video thanks for sharing.
Thanks brother 🤘
i had that lunchion loaf, the other day, fry it up some, good for breakfast and lunch as well. This is a pork product, hame. Has good taste. not salty.
Awesome! Thank you for the tip as well as the additional info on this product 😁👍
Sounds like we are definitely like-minded 😁 and I definitely will. I'll be trying them out this week! 👍
Great Video! ❤ Tyvm
You are so welcome! 😁💛🙏
@@GreyManPrepping The only DT anywhere near me is in the wealthy section of town which I find puzzling. I was told that they can't find employees.
@@dalegaa4094 That is very odd 🤔

Really they are moving on up lol 😆 I've always enjoyed shopping there so we'll see how it all pans out. 😁👍
Could you please tell me what the large cans are behind you. I see Augusta Farms. Hubby and I are looking into shelf stable food,,,we are new at this.
Thank you 😁 A few other folks have said that as well about that brand, worst case I'll have to stir some life into it lol 😆
Great Haul and Video. The Dollar Tree is a good store for preps.
Yes they are! Always good to hear from ya brother 😁🤘
I also get food from dollar tree for prepping, please do more of these videos, 72 hour kits, 3 months. Any receipes?

When I first started prepping I got a good amount of supplies from dollar tree
It's definitely a budget-friendly option for folks who are just getting into prepping. They do have some good deals on certain products like medical, and some general household items that I noticed while looking around that day. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch my video 😁🙏

Nice haul. Last year I got #10 cans of beets at Dollar tree. Not something I normally buy but for 5 quarters...yep I'll take em😅
Really, I hope to see that in my dollar tree. I figured they differ on products based on demographics
Well that’s awesome!
Nice haul. If it wasn't for the 28 food allergies in the family, I would be able to stock up quickly at Dollar Tree.
Thank you, Joan. That can truly be difficult to work around. God bless and I hope you have a great weekend. 🙏💛
Just came upon your video on my feed. I would buy most of what you bought except for the Chili and the Luncheon Loaf. I have bought the Shelf Stable Milk there several times and it really comes in handy for baking . Also, the Cherry Pie Filling is another great buy !
You did a great haul !
Awesome! Thank you! I definitely made a mistake with the chili many folks have said it's nasty lol 😆 So looks like I may have to get creative when cooking or keep it as a barter item. I will be adding the milk to the list next go around. 😁 have a blessed day 🙏
