That's right folks clean out them closets cause y'all really only need so much clothes and junk, plus clothes just don't taste as good as food 😜 we've converted both bedroom closets into pantry space and live out of a decent size dresser each. You can find spaces for things, underneath the beds in plastic totes is one of the ways I store long term foods. I make it work for us and y'all can too! God bless you and yours!

Yes, Dollar tree is a great resource for prepping. I know a lady from Chile who has lived through multiple earthquakes and she says when you go through a natural disaster the last thing you want to do is cook. So having some ready to eat options like you showed is a great idea!

I love that you buy two of most things. I found that was the easiest way to start my stockpile. Buying multiples on sale also helps keep costs down and helps you rotate through items your family uses often. Having a stocked pantry is so nice after a busy day and you don’t want to go shopping! Just remember to replace what you use 😊

I can't tell you how many times my pantry has helped us through emergencies. Job loss, husband injured...out of work 2 mo....storms...power out 2 weeks. Out of work at Christmas. Husband worked construction. So many times our pantry saw us through. And I didn't have to worry about...how I was going to feed my small children. It was such a stress reliever..when you are already going through hard times. I started with using one small cabinet and a large box. And kept putting in sale items. Or anything I could spare before my next shopping trip.😊

Under the bed boxes are a great place to store items. You just have to check the height of your box with the height of your under bed clearance. Walmart carries these. We live in a hot climate and can’t store most foods in the garage. Thanks for the inspiration.

You can always raise your bed with bed risers. Some people even ditch the frame and box springs and put their mattress directly on top of about 12 buckets.

The Spaghettios, ravioli, things like that, are really useful for children, because it puts a bit of normalcy back into their life, especially during an emergency. Kids can be picky, and though you might be able to get by on rice and beans and sardines, kids most likely won’t be happy. The cans may take a little more space up, but it’s worth it. Don’t forget candy, either. It can also provide comfort, and a little boost when needed.

Covid lockdowns was a perfect example why I prep. My family was not affected by the lockdowns. We had plenty of everything including toilet paper and we didn't have to worry about when we could go to the grocery store or possibly get sick from exposure. Plus, I was able to give stuff to my parents, his parents and my great uncle to keep them supplied. I will always prep for "just in case."

Something that's important to keep on hand and that Dollar Tree has is at least one or two pairs of rubber gloves. I found out after hurricanes Laura and Delta how important they were for clean up. Bleach, disposable rags, even a plastic bucket and sponge....all of these are at the store and are so useful after a weather-related event. All can be stored in the bucket.

I have a larger tote in my living room full of toiletries, I use it next to my sofa for a little table 😆. I recently purchased a sterilite 4 drawer dresser for vitamin medicine bandages and such and an emergency drawer with stuff you might want on hand in case of a medical emergency. Batteries of ALL sizes are a must have. Also consider stocking up on light bulbs, just had a few go out and luckily, what I didn't have, I was able to get at the store. Just remember folks you can do this a few budgeted dollars at a time. Replace what you use and just a couple items per trip and you'll have a great pantry to shop from for meals.

But, if you are able to add a few things to one, make sure they are pop top or easy open packages. All these ideas are so great, for home or for a blessing box.

Do you think beef Jerry or sticks might be a good idea? For us older people, a pair of extra readers would be invaluable if you had to leave in a hurry and take pics of important id cards so you have them on your phone. Oh yes- an extra phone charger.
