  • www.vladtv.com - Many people have saw early photos of Dr. Dre rocking a shiny suit during his World Class Wreckin' Cru days, and founder Alonzo "Lonzo" Williams spoke exclusively to VladTV about the story behind the eye catching outfit.
    The pioneer DJ explained that all of the members of the group picked out their own outfits, including Dre, who chose a shiny red suit that glimmered in the light. Williams told VladTV that they went down to Melrose to pick out the clothes, and he adds that he "didn't put a gun to [Dre's] head" when it came to the bold ensemble.
    During the conversation Alonzo also detailed how Dre joined the World Class Wreckin' Cru, and you can hear the full story in the above clip.

      I think the main point about Dre & the shiny suit thing is the fact that Dre seems like he wants people to forget about that part of his music history. Eazy-E’s diss tracks brought that up, and how Dre switched from shiny suites to wearing locs, khakis, & other hard core gangster gear afterwards

    People lack an understanding of of historical trends! You are calling Dr. Dre moist when everyone from that time period dressed like that! Even the toughest street gangs had jerry curls and flashy suits! The only people in my eyes who have had a consistent dress code are Italian Mobsters but even the younger ones dabbled in that type of clothing! Or if you were broke, you couldn't afford it! How many people from the 80s have you seen wearing Michael Jackson type suits! Do your research and stop acting like you are some how more manly! I would say a lot of men today are more effeminate with their obsession with sneakers, matching clothes, wearing jewelry etc even more than the girls! Talking about harming people on a rap record doesn't make you a man! It makes you hyper-emotional!

      +stupidstuffpplsay Dude you sound like the type of nigga that where you are from you have never seen a book or know much?! You just proved my point on ignorance being bliss! Afrika Bambata, one of the pioneers of hip hop, was a member of the black spades, him and his crew wore shiny stuff and even more outlandish stuff before and after the gang life! Go watch documentaries on gangs in Ny from 70s to 80s and see what they are wearing! Even in LA, you got dudes wearing all types of questionable stuff, fish net tank tops, tight leather stuff! The pimps you're making fun of were actually heroes in urban culture, where do you think the early Crips got the idea to walk with a limp and canes?!

      @ANT1989 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      HAHAHA!
      Gangstas NEVER wore "shiny suits".
      YES Afrikan Bambataa was in the Black Spades street gang but the gangs of NEW YORK from the 70's wore JEAN JACKETS/LEATHER VESTS. The gangs of New York from the 70's got their styles from MOTORCYCLE GANGS, they wore PATCHES on their jean jackets/jean vests and wore dickies or a pair of jeans.
      Those gangs back then did NOT wear shiny shit lol, they were wearing Afros and dressed ROUGH and were mostly Black and Puerto Rican and there were Caucasian gangs too.
      Check out the documentary on Netflix called "Rubble Kings", it talks ALL about it. Those New York gangs is where the 1979 movie "The Warriors" got their inspiration from. Shiny suits?! HAHAHAHA FUCK OUTTA HERE

      I think it's mainly because it was like the polar opposite of the gangsta image he later adopted. Eazy did a good job of clowning on Dre and it's just like how Jay-Z said Prodigy was a ballerina even though he was just dressed up like Michael Jackson and he was like 10 years old, it was crazy to see someone who portrays their self as being so hard look like that and people just said "oh my god, dre was dressed like a homo" and "oh my god, prodigy was a ballerina" without actually realizing the truth of those situations.

      Hip hop HOF would be a great thing to have in America but picking a city would be tough. It would have to be NY. But "fuck rock n roll"? gtfo with that rock n roll is great too. Hip hop and rock n roll are both as American as apple pie and both genres have had genius, talented, innovative artists that helped influence American culture in a big way.

    • @snomelc920J

      Dan Zalisnock no i like rock n roll, im just saying fuck putting hip hop in their Hall as if Hip Hop has to answer to the Rock N Roll hall of fame. Hip Hop Hall of Fame is definitely long past due, Public Enemy - Rakim- Jay Z - Nas _ Eminem - and all of the forefathers instantly in IMO... I think NY would be the best City, then LA a strong Second, then you go down south to Atlanta or Texas... IMO... one of those 4 though. !

      ***** Your word vs. N.W.A's. Especially Ice Cube, because he's the one they been asking. He says yes, everything in the movie actually happened. That's why they were a part of the movie. To make sure it was authentic. Lonzo could be the one lying. Or... just not "remembering".
