A very useful video with lots of helpful information. However, it should be stressed that this excellent service is provided by the NHS only. If you choose, as I did, to have the surgery done privately, you are in hospital for 2 days only, and you get very little of the care that's offered in this video. No-one will come to your house to measure your bed or chairs or anything else; you are not given any equipment to take home with you after the operation (e.g. crutches, raised toilet seat etc) - you are expected to provide these yourself - and the private hospital where I've been book into is on one floor only - no stairs - there is just a fake block of 4-stairs to practise on before you go home. Having watched this video, I'm considering saving myself thousands of £s and having my surgery done on the NHS - you seem to get much better care!

Just had mine done private. I got given crutches, nothing else. Minimal physio, I had op on Saturday, came home Tues. Felt unprepared to come home. However, would have waited just under a year for consultation then have to wait for op on NHS. As private got consultation within a week and op within 6 weeks. NHS doctors and physios messed me around for a year prior to this telling me different things. In the meantime I went from bad to worse, also affecting my other hip. If NHS looked at worse possible scenario first maybe I would have got proper treatment. I initially said to my doc I thought I might need hip replacement, she said it was soft tissue injury. Physio said it was hip bursitis, both wrong.

Great video! The Joint School videos on our channel may be a helpful complement to this, touching on some commonly asked questions and useful exercises before and after surgery. Many thanks and take care!
