    A mistake many people make is to think that the money must be in a Thai bank account before you apply for an AO visa, you can apply for the visa in your home country and have the money in your home country, it is only if you are going to extend the visa without leaving Thailand that you need to have the money in a Thai bank account.

      If you're smart you shouldn't bring any large amounts of money to Thailand to get a Non Immigrant Retirement Visa.
      Use an agent, there's one hanging around every Immigration office in Thailand or ask around other Farangs in your area to locate one.
      They fill out all the paperwork, take you to the Immigration office and facilitate everything.

      @@scottgeen3062 Hi Scott
      Sure but don't bring the doe to Thailand. Leave it back in our country and transfer it over as you need it using the Wise transfer method. Wise is an excellent online banking app.
      22 million baht should last awhile unless you start buying houses and land for the lovely ladies you might meet.

    Please use Baht for the prices not $ (What $? A$?)
    1. its difficould to calculate
    2. changing rates changes so after some months not possible to find out
    2 The prices in Baht are comparable in $ not.

    Some points in this video are a little confusing so to hopefully help clarify
    The financial requirements for getting a Non-Imm OA or O visa are
    - 800K in the Bank 2 months before applying (NB If applying in your own country you can use money in your own bank, if converting in Thailand it needs to be in a Thai bank account )
    - 65K pm income being brought into Thailand
    - a Combination of the 2 of which the Deposit in the bank has to be at least 400K totalling at least 800K
    If using the 800K method then this needs to remain in the bank account for at least 3 months after getting the visa/extension, can then be spent down to no less than 400K and needs to be back at 800K at least 2 months before your next annual extension.

    • @thaikru
      @thaikru  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In practice, the 65 K per month is not so easy to achieve as you might think.

    • @harrykeogh3994
      @harrykeogh3994 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thaikru Agreed... You do need to be very careful that you transfer at least 65K every month (ideally around the same day) & ensure that it shows up in your Bank Account as a Foreign Transfer (FTT).
      My advice would be to use Wise (Was TransferWise) to do the transfers & for the "Reason" always select the last option of "Fund for Long Term Stay in Thailand". Doing this should ensure it shows as a transfer from overseas but be prepared to print/copy all of your Wise reciepts when it comes to extension time :)
      Far easier to keep the 800K in the bank but even with this don't forget to update your passbook regularly or (like me this year) you'll find yourself needing extra statements from the Bank :(

    Bangkok Bank Public Co Ltd
    Bank in New York City, New York
    Has this branch in New York. If I put $30,000 USD in an account there would that meet the requirements for a Thailand Retirement Visa? Plus an ongoing income above that!..

      Only if you applied for and received your visa in the United States. If you apply for your visa in Bangkok, you have to be in Thailand in person with that bank account here in Thailand and the funds in it here in Thailand.

    • @thaikru
      @thaikru  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you do. The authorities here want to see that income in a Thai Bank. The only exception is if you apply for your retirement visa in your home country before coming to Thailand. But even then, in the second year, you do have to show the bank account with regular deposits over the first year to cover that amount.

      Thai Elite visa - 1 Million THB gets you 20 years (4 x 5 year) Visa, if you don't leave the country then you still need to do an "Extension" every year but it's a formality (no need to show proof of finances etc...) & Thai Elite can help you do it if you live in one of the larger cities.
