I just went on auto tempest and found dozens of v12 db11s for about $130,000 which gives you some room to get an extended warranty or pay for the maintenance. It’s an excellent gt car that’s pretty new and gorgeous to look at. So for $150,000 it’s my pick.
domantfly While I do agree it’s an unoriginal choice, but there is also a very strong reason why they all choose it. It’s such such a good car for that money. Screams it’s nuts off like an exotic, fast as heck on track, feels authentic and connected to drive, has a manual now too. Just ticks every possible enthusiast box. Its pretty much the perfect enthusiast car for majority of the folks out there who don’t have very quirky or unique or ultra specific requirements. This commonly shared high opinion of the car makes it dull and unoriginal. But its really just insane how good this car is especially at the price tag it is sitting. Can totally sell at Hurucan prices and still be bought out.
If we are talking 'for the $' I would put a used manual Evora 400 on the list. 70k - 75Kish right now. Not quite as good as a Porsche but looks better and is infinitely more rare. There is a kit from Komo-tec that brings the car to 475HP and takes the sound from great to insane.
I'd use my welding and engineering skills and build something kinda similar to the Ariel atom but completely costum and it will use the Focus RS engine.
GT3 Touring is by far the best answer. Having driven a GT3 on a race track, they really are pure joy to drive. And unlike the RS, the touring is not trying to make a loud statement and is subtle/beautiful.
Can’t believe no one mentioned it but the best car is AMG GT-R u can pick one up for 150k AWD and AWS and v8 bi turbo most of them come green. And the rear end timeless
I got a 1984 turd gen mullet machine for $1,500; only Rot was on the rocker panels and the paint is oxidized but I’ll eventually fix that. Currently have a 1,000+ 5.3 out of a silverado with a big single turbo set up. Possibly might try to make it awd 👀
I am with Eric - the 65 Daytona replica is the path to glory! (Just a inconvenient path). The Scud is up there too, but I am not sure you can find a decent on at $150K, I feel like they live closer to $175K. And sorry Casey, Ed has the manual Merci prices north of $300 now.
Just imagen buying a freaking 150k trans am with 1000hp and then get gapped by a mustang with twin turbo and 10 speed that would cost 1/3 of trans am might even less
There's a 2011 manual LP550 in Arancio Borealis here in the uk for £120k that looks like a questionable enough place to start if I had that kind of money to rinse on a car.
Gotta agree with Casey on this one, I do believe the 16-17 Viper ACR is going to be remembered as one of the last true analog greats some day. 8.4L NA V10, 6 speed, RWD, not much for computers, but just a big ol wang was still enough for 13 track records. If I had the money I'd be sitting on one, not much of a daily but a great track day car and we all know what the values of the last analog cars from some of the bigger manufacturers have been doing.
150,000 I would go with *AMG GT-R* from Mercedes. Easy daily, fast, nice interior. *GT3RS* if you can find one or some other kind of 911 for best driver car in that range *LP-560* or *458 italia* if I just want to have fun and make noise for that price range.
I do agree with the manual GT3. I have one and a 720S and a couple of others and I’m always thinking about what I’ll get next and what should I sell or keep but never have I once considered selling the GT3. It’s not the fastest or grippiest, but it really is the most fun I’ve had in a car. The only reason I’d sell it is to get a manual 992 GT3.
You could get a 675LT which will probably hold value. Or a murcielago, or gallardo superleggera, or 360 stradale, AMG GTR, R8 v10+ , 599 GTB, 575 maranello. All cars that will hold value.
I didn't even think about the 993, but that is absolutely 1 of 2 I would pursue. Cash in hand, I would probably go after option 2, a well-optioned RS6 Avant. It would be nice to have a high performance vehicle with a warranty.
Start doing “What car would you get with $X/month?”. Make people choose a car they could afford both the payments and maintenance with a certain budget. Giving a fixed purchase price is fine, but some of these car will cost a fortune ongoing and some will be more modest, and most people need to decide what to get with a certain monthly income that covers everything
