    I upgraded from XS max to iPhone 12 Pro Max and I noticed the difference immediately. It makes me kind of sad honestly because of how expensive these phones are and upgrading I thought it would be a better display. I am going to keep my 12 pro Max even though the XS max is brighter and whiter. I really hope there’s an update to fix this issue 😔

    My friends thought I was crazy about this. I also came from a XS Max and upgraded to a 12 pro Max. Don’t stress about it. The X and XS were the last series to have the blueish screen. Last year I upgraded from X to 11 pro and I replaced 3 of them because of the yellow screen. All my friends with 11 pro had the same yellow tint. However my PC monitor was blueish and when I calibrated it, it looks yellow.
    The truth is that the 11 pro has a screen closer to the reference white point than the iphone x and xs.
    The issue is not that iphone 11 or 12 have a yellow screen, but with x and xs having a blueish screen.
    We all got used to the blueish ones from the past and now it’s hard to get used with the yellow one. But the yellow one is correctly calibrated when compared to reference displays.
    Also, some of them are more yellow, in which case the screen has an issue, but if that’s just a bit yellow, that’s a correctly calibrated screen. You won’t find on any iphone series after x or xs a screen that looks so blue. And trust me that I’ve searched for them, and was unable to find one.
    Also, most of the people are noticing a difference because they are upgrading from a x or an xs model, but who is upgrading from a 11 pro model, won’t see a big difference, or not even a difference.
    After one year with my 11 pro, I got used and when I am seeing now another display which is blueish, my eyes hurt.
    Hope that helps and enjoy your phones!

      You can go to your settings and then search for color filter > turn it on > and then at the bottom there’s an option to change the temperature of your screen, 2/3 will be the best measurement for a colder screen.

  • @matthewandclank2
    @matthewandclank2 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    It’s because the iPhone 12 can display more color information so there are more colors in the yellow and red that are showing. Also it has to do more with the light meter built into the iPhone. They might be slightly off. I have the 12 max and it looks great! Just definitely more red energy from the screen. It’s to help with Eye fatigue not really color accuracy.

    Just got mine, same issue. It is TrueTone because when turning it OFF on both my 12 Pro and 11 Pro screens look the same (10% better on 12 pro), but when turned ON, the 12 Pro looks WORSE, yellow tint, blurrier, while on the older 11 Pro it's bright, vivid and super sharp. Looking at pictures on the 11 pro is much better than on the 12 pro which looks washed out. Also the photo quality is much worse on the 12 Pro. I tested both side by side, too much over sharpening that adds halo effects everywhere, the HDR is WAY off almost all the time. Portrait with the LiDAR Scanner is horrible, it focuses on the face, but seems to leave the rest blurry (bottom part of t-shirt which should be in the range of focus) while the 11 pro shows the entire subject very sharp. I showed side by side images and had family members choose the best one (including myself), the chose the 11 Pro images 100% of the time, I chose the 11 pro images 90% of the time. 11 Pro portraits look DSLR-like while the iPhone 12 Pro looks like old Samsung phones with the overly-sharpened images, blue tint to them, just really bad. I'm returning mine and keeping my 11 pro which was basically already sold to a friend.

    I bought an iPhone 12 Pro recently, and it was much yellower than my Xs Max without true tone. This new phone was manufactured in late Dec 2020, so Apple should have tried to solve the yellow tint problem (although this issue is still there ). Apple agreed to offer a replacement but I doubted things would change, so I declined further actions. I also notice that iPhone 12 Pro Max has a warm screen similar to the 12 Pro. I guess Apple has adopted a new color temperature scheme. Under a dark background, the green tint problem does not appear in my experience.

    For anyone's listening here :) If your are luckily within the 14 days window, GO FOR AN IMMEDIATE RETURN/REFUND of this useless and BROKEN 12 Pro Max line-up!!!
    Just today I HAPPILY returned mine :) Lots of crazy, absurd, inacceptable camera issues!!! And I've investigated it for many days before returning. Thousands of people are getting tons of troubles with theirs 12 Pro Max. And just in the camera department! This is a very bad situation.
    Issues are (in no particular order): 1) HUGE problem when shooting clear blue sky. TERRIBLE color blending!!! Inacceptable. 2) HUGE focusing issues in low light (maybe due to some conflict with the almost useless LIDAR) 3) Much increased MINIMUM FOCUS DISTANCE. Below 10/11 cm is impossible to get things in focus!!! Apple...are you serious? 4) HUGE, MIGHTY, issues with "fake" flare and light stains!!! 5) SCREEN FLICKERING in some situation and when watching photos and/or videos
    And I've double checked all these things. Thousands of customers are getting the same exact issues with theirs units. Apple has already acknowledged some of these issues and unofficially they say that a next iOS update COULD fix them. But nothing for sure. It's absurd that a phone over 1400 Euros has this terrible camera hardware/software.

    I've already replaced my initial 12 Pro Max. It was not only yellow but the colors were washed out. The Genius Bar guy agreed it's problematic and gave me a brand new phone (first one was only a week old). The replacement is better, but my 7 Plus is color accurate, not the 12PM. Apple calls the yellow a "feature" and refuses to own that its problematic.
    I have an appointment to return the replacement, too. Anyway, we're only 8 months away from iPhone 13, which will have a better camera flush to the phone (glass cover on the lenses), so maybe it's just better to wait for that. This line is disappointing for the crazy price.

      @@TheWongReviewer I almost decided to keep my second replacement. But the truth is, I don't love the phone at all: the screen is really washed out at different angles, when that's not the case with my 7 Plus, the yellow tint is really not conducive to photography work, and I hate the notch!
      I understand Apple is coming out with their next model in September and maybe they'll improve on these issues or maybe they'll continue to pass off sub-par quality as a "feature." But I'm not parting with my money again until they get it right.
      I highly recommend you contact Apple if it's not been that long since purchase to see if you can return yours, if you're as unhappy as I have been with this device. I returned the first one after 1 week (2 week return period) and the second one I'll be returning this week, which is its 2 weeks period. In addition, the way Apple has tried to ignore obvious problems to my face, I can't bear to deal with them until they do better. This isn't it, however.

    Will, man, I used my 12 Pro Max last night to record Instagram Stories with the front camera. Inside a well lit room, with solid white wall/closet behind me, phone was vertical and mounted on a tripod. Throughout the whole video, you can see how the color of the background (wall/closet) changes from “white to yellowish” back and forth, repeatedly. Why is that happening? When turning on night mode, it does this exact same thing on my HP monitor, where it turns yellow. Really bad yellow! However the MacBook itself will have a yellow tint too, but not nearly as bad, and again only in night mode. I have an iPad Pro 11 2020, just got it a few weeks ago, and have not noticed any issues like this with that either. This is pretty bad for a new product, and one with so much hype from Apple with these iPhone 12’s. Hopefully they resolve this soon. If you go to the settings
      Accessibility->
      Display and text size->
      Turn on color filters and click on the color tint option
      Intensity should be set to low and HUE to about 70 percent and it will get rid of the yellow hue on the iPhone 12

Picture quality on 12 pro is good but more on sharper side , more detailing n clear on this and slight yellow tint. Planing to give this to my younger bro.. I don’t mind using the older version iPhone.. I use Samsung s10 + also I checked and compared the pix on it.. I liked XS max Sefi more.. To be honest I felt my skin looks too damaged on iPhone 12 Pro.
      Hope they correct the lighting issues on the future phones..

Go outside, see a white car? Take a pic. Then look at the pic and that same white car will look kind of yellow ( tint ). Send the photo to a good iPhone ( se, 11, 7 and so on ). Compare. U will see that only the 12 shows the yellow. Garbage display!!!!

I think I go Android/Samsung next time because the iphone 12 caer is useless to a Solicitor who screen shoots for evidence, 10 meg movies instead of a normal 1 meg still pic and even turning off setting, as soon as you select camera again, settings return and too many to change every single time I just waant a NORMAL PICTURE OF ANYTHING.
