      I live in South Florida, I deal with this on a constant basis. I'm a good person, hard working, so what do I get to ignore, can I refuse to get my DL renewed?
      Can I cross the border in Canada and demand healthcare because I'm a hard working, good American, will they open there arms and give me a college tuition, or let me hide from law enforcement?

      Larissa Martinez...Were you calling me a racist because I am upset that these people come to this country and care not to learn to speak the language???? They learn to work the entitlement programs. they lear the money.
      Came across a guy today that owns a co that pours slabs. When I asked for his workers SS # as to be sure that all were legal none had them. When I asked for his tax ID # ; come to find out the Co was not a true LLC and he did not have a SS #.
      I now have to check the next bid in line. ...This guy made a lot more work for me and others on this job quoit. And because of my lost time I am racist.
      I dropped a dime (now days a quarter) on the Co to ICE and if that makes me a racist I enjoy being one....
      Maybe they can take him in and have him help build the wall
      BTW Larissa you are NOT Mexican_American...you are a US citizen of Mexican descent. People from Mexico are Mexican_American because Mexico is in the Americas ...there are over 50 countries in the Americans and that each and every citizen of those countries can say that they are Americans

And rhe aid would be exclusive to the child or pregnant mother. And rhe I nly reason they get into such position. Is Becsuse the only work they are able to get. And they're not stealing American jobs. That's not how the economy works. Because the truth is. A citizen will always outcompete an undocumented immigrant. They're just doing the jobs that a lot of Americans are too entitled to take.

      Second, no one want to do the jobs that undocumented do.

      I’m sure he has thought about it but it is a long process. Citizenship is not given depending on how long you’ve lived in the US. You can only get it after you’ve been a permanent resident for 5 years: through marriage; your child (when he/she turns 21 and can sponsor you even if you are out of status); BUT you have to have come to the US legally; through the dv lottery (if you are in the US, you have to be legal to apply); through work (you have to be legal for your job to sponsor you and it’s only for jobs in demand and your employer should prove that he has not found an American citizen to do the job he is sponsoring you for).
      These are the parents’ options. they might have looked into it but they do not qualify. It’s not that they don’t want to be citizens. They are just limited.

    These sort of videos appeal to our emotions and pull on our heartstrings for sure, but the fact remains the law has been set to give equality to all and if they cheat the system that would create imbalance and inequality that would undermine the system. What am I talking about? They certainly don't pay income taxes, yet enjoy what benefits income taxes bring about, such as free education for their children. How is it fair that they don't have to give up 1/3 of their incomes every year like everyone else? That would make the accumulation of wealth so much easier. And many of them send that money back to Mexico further undermining the economic system.

      At the start of 2023, the net cost of illegal immigration for the United States - at the federal, state, and local levels - was at least $150.7 billion.
      FAIR arrived at this number by subtracting the tax revenue paid by illegal aliens - just under $32 billion - from the gross negative economic impact of illegal immigration, $182 billion.
      In 2017, the estimated net cost of illegal migration was approximately $116 billion. In just 5 years, the cost to Americans has increased by nearly $35 billion.
      Illegal immigration costs each American taxpayer $1,156 per year ($957 after factoring in taxes paid by illegal aliens).
      Each illegal alien or U.S.-born child of illegal aliens costs the U.S. $8,776 annually.
      Evidence shows that tax payments by illegal aliens cover only around a sixth of the costs they create at all levels in this country.
      A large percentage of illegal aliens who work in the underground economy frequently avoid paying any income tax at all.
      Many illegal aliens actually receive a net cash profit through refundable tax credit programs.

    AJ+ is trying to say that we should feel sorry for these people but it doesn't make sense. My mom arrived here from the Philippines legally. Why can't they do the same? Why do other people from other countries have to go through the long and tedious process of getting a visa while they don't? That's not fair.

    "The law is the law" I keep reading that everywhere but I am not sure these people give a deep thought into what laws are and what is the purpose of them... Laws also prohibited alcohol consumption and for women to vote, but I don't see those laws having a place in the U.S. anymore... in other countries right now, laws allow presidents to stay in power indefinitely, or gays to be incarcerated... Laws and policies in a democracy are suppose to give order to a society based on its reality, aiming to maximise social benefit. A law that is tearing American families and communities apart by deporting people that have been living and working in U.S. soil for over 20 years is a law that needs to be revised... "They shouldn't have come in the first place" some will say, well... they did, that is the reality, and they have been part of U.S. society for decades now. Any good policy maker knows that the first step to making successful policies is to know where are you standing and work from there. Solutions are not black and white, they are nuanced and complex, specially for this kind of issues...

    • @PityMe
      @PityMe 7 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Prohibition and suffrage laws were wrong because they limited the personal and political freedoms of American citizens. This family and other illegal immigrants are not citizens and have broken our laws by crossing the border. There is a difference.

      But am I wrong?

    • @martfp88
      @martfp88 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wouldn't say you are wrong but I think your missed my point. The comparison I was making was more about how laws change and evolve and less about how these laws relate to immigration laws.
      That being said, saying that the laws were wrong because they limited personal freedoms is a restrictive way of framing it... Going back to one of my points, I would say that prohibition and suffrage laws were eventually considered to be wrong because they didn't reflect the reality of the situation at the time and were not maximising social benefit for American citizens... The question we need to ask is if it makes sense to deport millions of people that are integrated into American society, families and economy. Is doing this really helping American citizens?.
      I am keeping this quite short because I don't want to write an essay here, but I am not even mentioning a lot of considerations or intended and unintended consequences of treating the issue in such "black and white" manner. It is all about cost/benefit and trying to achieve win-win situations.

    • @TheBLACKboard65
      @TheBLACKboard65 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      MARTIN - The only part of what you've said that is worth anything is your acknowledgment that THE LAWS WERE CHANGED about prohibition, suffrage and many other issues. NO (FEDERAL) LAWS HAVE CHANGED regarding entrance into and the ability to work in the United States. The idea that because people have lived here for years they have: 1) integrated - is FALSE; did you notice both parents spoke in Spanish? Did you notice both parents think THEY have a right to change the law because they are not one of the OTHER types of criminals? Did you notice their goal is not for their children to BE American but to HAVE the American dream! If they had truly integrated they would have returned to their countries and entered legally out of respect; 2) benefited the U.S. - is FALSE; just because they work multiple jobs doesn't make them special; there are MANY Americans who do the same and actually have less opportunity now because of all the jobs earmarked for Hispanics through the "bilingual" requirement alone. Further, behaving in a divisive manner doesn't benefit ANY society; 3) economic pillars - is FALSE; they are not economic pillars to the U.S. but to the countries they come from and can send remittance to.
      If Trump will return his focus to jobs creation and heavier deportation of illegals, we'll quickly see whether the U.S. can survive without the likes of Jorge and Imelda!

Perhaps fining them: barring them from welfare benefits for 10 years; and doing community service. But, in these circumstances where they have been here many years working and no criminal record, there should be a pathway to citizenship. But from now on, the immigration laws must be enforced and a wall should be built.

      I’m sure they have thought about it but it is a long process. The way they came in the country doesn’t help them either. Unfortunately, Citizenship is not given depending on how long you’ve lived in the US.

    You been here 17 years why aren’t you legal? If we went to your country I would be in jail I just can’t make myself comfortable there. UNEXCEPTIONABLE

    It is hard to have sympathy as a non-american person who lived and studied in the US for 5 years, speak English with no accent, truly immersed in the American culture(listening to country music ect.), extremly loyal to the American flag and American Ideals. I could not stay and I left, I would always want to come back but I love the USA too much to disrespect the laws to do so illegally.

      Not everyone can learn to speak another language easily everyone isn’t you it is easier for a child who speak Spanish to learn English but harder for adults to learn a new language especially if your living mainly and working a round people who speak the same language as you most of those undocumented people only work for Latinos that are legal under the table so it’s hard for them to learn English js

    So because they are nice people,we should forget about the laws and not to respect them,right?
    So the Law doesn't apply to nice people.
