      I would say that It is in control now. Mostly I don't prevent my thoughts from coming and I also don't try to seek reassurance for the obsessive thoughts. Try to agree with the thoughts and accept the risk. The main focus is to embrace the uncertainty.

      @@sadiamomtaz333 when I try to disengage i become more hyper aware of the thoughts and sensations, and I feel powerless against them. Being mindful feels ingenuine/forced and like I’m trying to distract myself from the issue my brain wants to focus on. Did you experience this too?

      Thats what ocd does, its a bully. Its gonna keep convincing you until you become a boss.
      I'm no professional but all I'll say is just accept the thoughts as they are. They aren't actions, they aren't something you would ever do, they are just in your brain, we're all human. Even my mom gets intrusive thoughts, we all do. Just people with ocd including myself make it seem like a big deal. Just stand up to ocd like its a bully, don't ignore it, don't push it away. Don't overthink
      Like let me just say if I get a crazy thought about me flying or blowing something up with my hands? Would that really happen? Heck no, thats just our brains. We either have good/weird/disturbing thoughts. Our brain just makes up weird ideas in our heads

    • @Dheresia

      I feel the same too here. When I say like 'ok thank you mind's or like admit it' another think come like you're gonna be like that or something really happens. That question again & again. It's as really simple as really talk 'oh ya sound cool' and another thought come again to make me scare

    You should make a video on ocd thoughts that cause stress or anxiety symptoms. For example, what if you have self harm internally and stress yourself out from a thought such as “why am I not freaking out right now, why am I calm?” Also, questioning one’s reality. those type of ocd thoughts where you break down philosophical questions and can’t answer them exactly and you become obsessive.
    Your tips help with this, but to focus for a second on this type of ocd would be extra helpful. Good job!

    I hate to say this but in a way I am glad that alot of people are going through this. Sometimes I feel I am the only one isolated in my world going through this. Ive had this for years but I dread on going on meds to help me because I feel they will ultimately get you to be dependent on them. I know these thoughts are not real and you have to have strong will to combat this. Also seek out GOD if you haven't already.

    Doesn't matter what kind of ocd you have the base of all ocd themes are the same and even though it's very very difficult this is perhaps the best advice for us who suffer from this just accept the thoughts say yes that's true you are right and try to move on.

    At nights when I wanna sleep it keeps telling me now u have no control on your fear. Its a scary thought itself. So fear runs on my brain. This makes a loop whenever it tells me u gonna fear, i fear. I have not been able to sleep more than 4 years now. Im exhausted and suicidal now. It feels like living in hel everyday...

    Wow thank you so much for these videos. I now fully believe I have ocd. I personally relate to almost every single example given of compulsions/intrusive thoughts and I cannot begin to describe how comforting and reassuring it is to know that other people have had similar issues, and have had success fighting them 🥹. As soon as I am financially able I would love to find a good therapist to talk to about seeing if I do for sure have OCD and helping me overcome it.

  • @Daishinobi

    The problem with me is that I sometimes try to calm myself down when my OCD kicks, and I do so by challenging it in kinda the same way you show in this video. But, when I do so, the OCD starts kicking harder and making me fear that I really am or even will be what I thought ‘cause I accepted it, and because I’ve done this ERP like instinctively or subconsciously (keeping in mind that I haven’t practiced/done it a lot before), I start doubting that this ain’t an ERP it’s just that I am what my OCD says since it’s unreasonable to do ERP subconsciously when I’m not used to it, especially that ERP is not an easy thing to do even with practice and getting used to it, so doing it subconsciously is a bullshit, and it was just me accepting the thoughts ‘cause I’m as bad as what my OCD says! This is how my OCD works 😣 *Is it normal to do ERP or something similar subconsciously or instinctively just to calm down, even though I am not used to it nor have I practiced it before?*

      Absolutely agree with you, but it is the OCD fighting us, I have this compulsion where I "forget" that I washed my hands, or "forget" if I scrubbed enough times (pattern and counting) but I am trying to break this, if it's a "trigger" washing session, it's so much more difficult, like "this one is more important" but it's all the same soap 😕 you are not alone, I ruminate a lot also

    • @sarah_noodle
      @sarah_noodle ปีที่แล้ว

      I know what you’re saying. I’m terrified (especially for the type of OCD I’m suffering with right now) that acceptance means I’ll become what my brain is afraid of becoming. Something this guy said in another one of his videos stuck with me and brought me comfort: Follow your values and your morals. If you are having anxiety about an intrusive thought, it means that your ego/self/conscience/whatever is NOT aligned with that thing. So if you act upon your values, you will be just fine.
      Also, I don’t think the intuitive ERP is a sign of your worries being true. I think you just very luckily stumbled on what works and your brain just doesn’t know what to do with itself when you’ve conquered an scary intrusive thought, so it creates a new doubt. The one thing I hate the most about this disorder is that I feel like if I’m not worried about something (whether it be the current obsession, or something else) that something terrible will happen. Kind of like, “it’s quiet….too quiet.” 😂
