I have always replaced both the tranny and motor mounts with poly at the same time. I have torn rubber motor mounts after just replacing the tranny mount with poly. Don’t forget to swap our your sway bar mounts with poly too. It makes a world of difference in the corners.
I’m this is old. But theoretically Polly trans bushing with stock rubber engine mounts should help the engine mount life because the trans isn’t twisting as much and in return not twisting the engine as much and stressing the rubber engine mint a as much no?
First off congrats on conveying a clear message of instructions, I can’t say how many videos I go to but the instructor just doesn’t have it. Anyway, I have a GMC Sierra 4x4, the cluster on the dash only shows 3 gears for the transmission: when I shift gear to reverse it has a loud bang as it goes into reverse. It does have high rpm’s on idle, I’m waiting for parts on that (IAC). My question is this: does it have the loud bang going into reverse because of worn mounts or because high rpms? Hopefully your answers can help while I wait for some parts...
It could be internal like, Pump, Sun shell, Planetary gear, Shafts. I'm not a transmission tech so you would have to bring it to a dedicated transmission shop. Cannot get it to line up for the life of me, any tips? When I lower the transmission with the jack, it wants to line up with the left hole, seems like it’s pulling away from middle as the jack lowers.
@@AnthonyJ350 It's 2WD. I ended up lining it up, but i had to use a crow bar to move it in place, it vibrates when i turn on the truck now, but not sure if thats just because the new mount.
@@AnthonyJ350 when I’m at a stop light while on drive I can hear my exhaust rattling too when I’m on park not as much but still vibrates a lot, my car is a 97 v6 auto Firebird
I didn't do a video on that install, waiting till I can do it on my buddy's 350Z when I'm in the new shop. The car had much firmer shifts and felt more controlled. There was a little more NVH, had to let it break in a little. I used Torque Solutions for my 350Z.
I have a 4x4 GMC Sierra 2014 I keep getting vibrations at 65 mph and at 80 mph I changed the motor mounts but I think it may need a transmission mount after seeing this
I hate energy suspension. I cant find the correct part number for the transmission mount to a 2002 trans am. I even called them and they couldnt provide me with the correct part number. And this was last week.
Herman Gonzalez Did you try cross referencing on rockauto.com or searching a 4th Gen fbody forum? You sometimes have to do research for items that aren't popular. I've bought stuff from them that wasn't listed but did research and they worked.
AnthonyJ350 i tried looking on the forums but could not find anything on energy suspension. I searched youtube and i was getting several different part numbers. Only part i was able to get was the torque arm bushing. I had to return the motor and trans mount.

Mine wouldn't like up on the cross member either. I'll try your method next. Also 2wd.

Torque it to manufacturer's spec? My 350Z had to be broken in, same thing, lots of vibration.
