  • It’s an extra special Sunday because we’re letting you in on some office goss. Divya, a Betches staff member, joins J&J for a debrief about her neighbor. She met a cute guy in her building during cuffing season and, at the time, Jordana warned her that dating a neighbor is a risky move, but also gave some helpful advice on how to proceed. Now that summer is in full swing, J&J are dying to know if the risk was worth the reward. She retells how the situation came to be, the dates they shared along with in-the-moment advice Jared and Jordana gave, and how it all ended. With that situation in hindsight, Divya, Jared and Jordana reflect on the red flags, and J&J share what would’ve worked to spare the issues.

I’m still wondering how this came up again six months later. Thought one of them reached out again or he might have a gf now and her feeling weird about it etc. Also most importantly… did she let him know this would air? 😅😅

Love the takeaway at the end of this. Most times it’s in the least an interesting story, and once in a blue moon it works out. My sister met her husband almost the same way. She had just moved into the building (and a completely new city for her) and as they passed in the hallway they asked him where the nearest convenience store was to get some beer and made small talk, introduced themselves, etc. Later that day at her door, she and her friends found a six pack of beer and a note that said welcome to the building if you ever need anything, I’m a few floors down and gave his number. They’ve been happily married 20 years now. 😊

LOVED this episode. Such a good format! If I had to rank types of U Up episodes it’s 1) this type 2) J&J only and 3) with celebrity guests

Great episode. I think after not texting her for 10 days and then seeing her in the hallway and not asking her out, it was clear that it was over. I get the advice to just be bold and ask him out. I would have done what Jared often advises- texted that I’d be open to another date, makes plan and I’m in. Then see what he does. He said yes to the date to see Jared perform because how can you say no to that?

Ya - in my experience - when you have to plan the date after not hearing from them for awhile: it usually means they are cool with saying yes and going along to see what happens but it doesn't give you a real picture of how into they really are...which sucks.

Looooved this episode!!! I’m sober and ceo of a substance abuse outpatient facility and have lots of thoughts. Maybe he was also dealing with people in his ear weighing in about the “dangers” of dating in year 1 of sobriety? Just a thought!

Accountant by day > DJ by night. This story is starting out as a John Summit fanfic (I’m only 25 min in so I don’t know how it ends lol)

Loved this ep! I had a meet cute had a similar frustrating ending literally a couple days ago and ugh. Unfortunately-even tho I never learn they usually show you signs of what they’re thinking with their inaction. But it’s BS when they are the ones that pursue you - then later decide they arn’t ready. Huh?!

My neighbor wanted to date me in small 6unit building & I didnt want to, but had a solid hook up/situationship for about 5yrs. Was a win win tbh & no drama even when we saw each other out with others. Still kept it going a bit when he moved out. No regretsss

Love how vulnerable this girl is by just simply being on this show, but I have to say she gave this guy very passive-aggressive comments that were kinda like a little butt hurt. I think if you're a little hurt or your ego was a little messed with, just be honest about what you feel in a vulnerable way... not in the little passive-aggressive or immature ways she said things. Like: "wish you hadn't done this in person" (maybe if he did it in person, you'd probably say "wish you would've done this in person".. or at least some girl would lol. No way is ever the right way)... or "wish you never did this"? Lol It's dating... so you wish a guy didn't ask you on a date? I mean... He is not a fuck boy. He's a guy that thought you were hot, and asked you on a date, and it just wasn't the ideal match for him. That's okay. You're beautiful... you'll find the right one who is NOT trying to be a DJ lol!
Also, some of the comments she made via text that he didn't reply to, I don't know, they felt a little off. This is just dating, while you don't need to be the cool girl with no feelings, if you're going to show any type of emotion... be vulnerable with it. Not backhanded or sly. You won't get the honest responses you're looking for. I don't think this guy did anything wrong at alllll. I think it was so nice to take you out and ask what you were looking for. Your answer wasn't the same as his, and that's okay. He did a great job to end it there.
I'm just saying it, because I used to do comments like that. I feel like they're very young kind of comments. A guy or girl can't do anything with those kind of "jabs".... They can do more with direct honesty. "Look you feel off, I'm looking for someone a little more into me. Don't think you are.. if you agree, let's just be friends".... I'm sure he'd react better and you would see where his had at earlier.
