    My observation is Elphaba and Glinda are two sides of the same coin. Elphaba is a light worker disguised as a shadow worker and Glinda is a shadow worker parading as a light worker.

      @CremeBrulee-qm8wi หลายเดือนก่อน +17

      Agreed! I also believe they both grained something from their friendship. Glinda allowed Elaphaba to grain confidence, which allowed her to find herself and be comfortable with it. Glinda began to not care what people thought of her and got to know Elphaba for who she was beyond her green skin, after the dance. Glinda is still a villain😂😂😂

    An outcast lesson I learned: let things fall apart. Do not try to fix, correct, explain, or amend things in your life that is taking a wearisome toll on you (your instinct will tell you, even if you can't decipher it). This was VERY painfully difficult; however, after many years, I realized I was ultimately competing with the same energy that was driving me into my destiny and purpose. Trust me, it is easier to face the lesson of loss than to struggle endlessly only to get nowhere.

    Many years ago I used to wear dreadlocks. There were two kids at the school where I worked who started calling me Medusa. I hated it then, but once I began studying Greek Mythology and understood Medusa's power, I welcomed the "name calling". I can also see many parallels in the relationship of Athena and Medusa to that of the witches in the story of Wicked.

      @yudythemodel2025 Without knowing it those mean girls who were calling you "Medusa" were giving you one of The Highest Honors a Woman could ever be bestowed with. Medusa is the legendary Warrior Woman who defeated Alexander The "Great" and kept him from invading and conquering Ethiopia. She had some of the most advanced Iron Weaponry at the time and was a brilliant strategist. The Greeks being a patriarchal society couldn't handle being defeated in battle by a Woman (especially a Black one) so they told horrible lies and rumors about her to try distort the truth and the greatness of her image. She's a hero🥲😍🥰 and downright awesome😎! The YT channel 9 World Chronicles had a video about her (I can't find it now otherwise I would've sent you the link!) telling Her true Herstory I don't know what happened to it!!!

  • @kmc1994
    @kmc1994 หลายเดือนก่อน +47

    I cried at the end of this movie with my 8 year old old sitting next to me. When I saw little Elphaba’s reflection as she was falling, that’s what got me. I see myself in her character, always have since I first read the book years ago. I embody Elphaba, The Wicked Witch, The OutKast, by continuing to walk on this path I know very few are brave enough to tread. I could have given up years ago but I decided I have more reason to stay and fight. I have another little girl to be an example for and hopefully teach how to embrace the Unknown as well. I’ve struggled with connecting solitude to my worth but after seeing this movie (🎉) I feel so much more empowered to embrace loneliness, to embrace quiet. To embrace the fact that people have left me because I’m different.
    Thank you!!! I don’t need you, them, anyone. We will be exalted.
    (And Azealia Banks, I will continue to give you your flowers because as a zillenial, I give your music credit for giving me the balls to be myself despite what people say).
    Shout out to all the OUTKASTS!!!! 💜 💜 💜

    There's power in the false perceptions forced on us by society. Especially as black women, I think a lot of us in these spaces have come to realize just how powerful, magnetic, full of light, and magnificent we innately are. ❤😊 I could tell Cynthia channeled from a deep place within her to bring Her own person touch to Elphaba, and I loved every minute of it.

    Yes i am an outcast and i do everything that said! Also being an outcast, dont be afraid to utilize the space around you. I used to think that because i was different i needed to stay locked away, but i can be different and still be myself in my public and do it with confidence. When i did that I attracted the same people who rejected me cause they were intrigued but then i ended up rejected them lol

    I love your synopsis over films and how you correlate it to real life. I liked wicked I liked it a lot. I’m at that stage of just accepting that I’ve always been misunderstood or classified as “weird “ . But it’s so interesting because like your synopsis on Galinda. I relate to that as well. I’m still learning how to play off of that, that’s something new for me lol. But I am finally just realizing that in order for me to truly elevate and live in my purpose it’s gonna require me to step away from the status quo. I really loved the ending scene it reminds me of growth and inner child healing. It’s like she finally realize that the people she held to a high regard, that she trusted she finally sees their true colors, and in that moment, instead of fawning or people pleasing, she took a leap of faith, trusted herself, and is off to live in her true authenticity.

    For me, I've had to learn that I don't have to talk to people if I don't need/want to. That can range from cutting people off, to not acknowledging people who I know don't like me to ending the conversation when I need to. Do I do this all the time? No, but this has made a massive improvement in certain areas in my life when I do implement this tactic. If you think I'm aloof, cool. I get to preserve my energy for more deserving people and/or conversations. Of course, this must be done with consideration for certain scenarios and the people I care about.

    Would “not black enough or white acting”..be in this category as well. I got called this a lot growing up by black kids. As a young adult a mixed black guy told me that I act white and if he wanted a white girl he would date one. I wasn’t acting but because I grew up as a military brat outside of the USA , I wasn’t acting and so I was considered weird.

It’s characters like her that have helped get through tough times and help me identify parts of myself that I hadn’t found or discovered. At least I'm flying free🎶
    I have community and I'm one of the upwardly mobile high saditty leftists yearning for the liberation of everyone but in the great words of sexyyred "They don't wanna be saved"
    Due to no fault of their own. Many lack critical thinking, media literacy and basic empathy for others.
    I will still live righteously bu associating myself with like minded individuals, code switching when needed, shopping ethically and continue to indulge myself in academia even if it seems futile.
