Did you input the charger as destination in the navigation? If you do it, the car preheat the battery and you can start charging at much higher speed.

This is the information that I have received when I contacted Mercedes - that there is a battery management system that will precondition the battery before charging if using Electrical Intelligence in the MBUX navigation system.

How long in advance you should put this charger as destination? 3-4 minutes

Very good and informative for someone waiting for his first EV.

You don’t need turn on the engine, there is a pre-heat button that keep the cabin warm.

Great video, thanks! Personally I think it's most relevant to see what happens when you've got a charger set as a destination. I think it's going to be rare that people try to fast charge their car first thing in the morning, but relatively common to do so after setting out on a long trip with a cold battery. Lots of cars have a winter mode that supposedly preheats the battery, most of them seem to suck though. It'd be interesting to see how effective those systems are.
Also, helpful hint: you should remove the apostrophe in "video's" on your closing credits 😉

Interesting video. I had to decide between the EQC and e-tron recently, and I have chosen the e-tron. This once more confirms my decision. The e-tron is really superior, at least in terms of charging which is one of the most important things for an EV imho

Hi Hans. I had the same predicament but I went for EQC as I am a Mercedes fan. I gather you went for the longer range e-tron.
The charge speed doesn’t affect me as I prefer charging at home over night although I noticed even slower charging at around 4.3kwh compared to max speed of 7 in the summer. It still meets my needs.
Also in the U.K. we have limited super fast public charging points above 50 anyway.

    Cool video

Nevertheless the results are still ok. If you do the same with a Tesla Model 3 your charging speed will be lower. It will start around 35 kW.

Eqc is a shame! Mercedes is a mess! Coldgate it is. At 0c I got max 65kW, but at -10c I only got 25kw!

The MBUX system will also give you real-time info on your range and charge status. The system will also help you navigate to the nearest charging station should you need it. It’ll even prepare the battery state so that it’s at the optimum temperature to be plugged in.

@@Mihe1 Yeah, it's great! But not in the real world. Now EQC at 0C has about 250km range (no highway) and the charging locations on my corner of paradise are missing from the Mercedes Database. EQC is my wife's car = an urban dweller. I use a Tesla MX 2023 for my trips.
