  • Pruning is the process of removing unwanted branches or certain parts of a plant, in order to improve its structure and direct new healthy growth.
    But, what exactly are those unwanted branches or parts that need to be removed?
    How does removing them improve the plant's structure?
    What is the difference between "pruning" and "tipping", and how do they affect the plant's growth?
    These questions will be answered in this video. This video tells exactly what to cut, why to cut, when to cut, and what tool to use to cut them.

    We shoul keep ane branch to the main trunk and three sub branches to the branch.m i right?

    • @LorezaKabuhayan
      @LorezaKabuhayan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some growers recommend allowing only one main branch (or trunk) to reach the top of the trellis. Out of that trunk, they recommend allowing only 4 to 6 branches, out of which they recommend 1 to 3 sub-branches. But note: these are just recommendations, not rules or laws. The intent is to ensure each branch gets sufficient supply of nutrients, which can be accomplished also by other means such as fertilizer management.

    Hello I'm wondering if my dragon fruit is growing thin branches is that normal? They're dark green and look healthy but what can I do to help them grow more thicker sized branches? And can I use regular vegetable garden plant food? Thank you for all the dragon fruit information friend! ❤️

      Try applying fertilizer rich in Nitrogen. Nitrogen promotes vegetative growth. Fertilizer labels come with three numbers, often called N-P-K rating, example, 24-5-16. The first number represents the percentage of Nitrogen content by weight in that fertilizer. The higher that first number is, the more Nitrogen that fertilizer has relative to its weight. Please note that Nitrogen promotes growth, but may inhibit ftuiting. Apply more Nitrogen during the growing period. Apply more Phosphorus and Potassium and less Nitrogen during the flowering and fruiting periods. You may also want to watch our other videos about fertilizer: “How to Feed Your Dragon Fruit Plant”, “Organic vs Synthetic Fertilizers”, and “This Optimal Dose of NPK Fertilizer Maximizes Dragon Fruit Yield.”

    and what is the size or age for production ?

    • @LorezaKabuhayan
      @LorezaKabuhayan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s still young (4 months). I’d say, wait until it’s grown bigger... Maybe, after a year.

    • @LorezaKabuhayan
      @LorezaKabuhayan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for visiting our channel. You can try applying some fertilizers rich in Phosphorus and Potassium. Cut down on Nitrogen. Also, did you plant your dragon fruit from seeds or from cuttings? Plants propagated from seeds normally take longer to mature and bear fruits. If you plant from cuttings, make sure they are from mature stems. Also, make sure they are exposed to sunlight
