You're not a gun. You are who you choose to be.
I was gonna say this has Iron Giant vibes. But then, Superman is a theme in Iron Giant. It all comes full circle.
Superman: The Iron Giant
Iron Giant, to himself: “Superman.”
Man of Steel; You’re not a weapon; Superman.
Full circle then loops.

Ikr! It's kinda cool thematically! ^^
"You’re Not A Weapon, You’re A Person" gives me Iron Giant vibes.
"What if a gun had a soul and didn't want to be a gun"
Ironically how the Giant wanted to be this guy.
@@thatsmyq52 not ironically, _fittingly_
I was about to say the same.
Allen Tsai
That’s what I was thinking too
I like how everyone comes crashing up from the underground and causes damage but Superman just politely comes out like a ninja turtle.
I thought exactly the same thing when he came from the sewers 😂
It’s like the iron giants premise, “what if a gun had a soul and didn’t want to be a gun” Superman May see himself as a weapon but he doesn’t need to act like one
Are you forgetting that Iron Giant's premise is literally Superman
Lois completes Superman so well, it's heartwarming. ❤🎉
Also i hope Lois both Jimmy never betray Superman in their fight against the General and Task Force X in chapter 10 "Heart of the Fathers"
Frl
It does ❤❤
If there was any doubt about Lois since "You'll Believe a Man Can Lie," let it be dispelled here. she has a clear view of what Clark Kent is all about -- more than Clark himself does, right here and now.
And hers was EXACTLY the voice he needed to hear.
1:15 Anyone else notice how Clark raises his arms when Lois reaches for his shoulders? Like he thought she was going to hug him and wanted to stop her because he thinks he’s too dangerous to be hugged?
And also how she respects that boundary even though she 100% does NOT believe he’s too dangerous to be hugged?
I love this show.
There’s a whole lot more to a PERSON than meets the eye. And luckily for Superman, Lois is ALWAYS here to remind him of that simple fact!
You are not a weapon, Superman! You are who YOU chose to be. Not what they say, just you.
Well, that brings back memories of a childhood classic.
"You are who you choose to be."

Iron giaaaaaant... *(flies into bomb)*
Hearing Superman call himself a weapon makes me wish the Iron Giant emerged in this universe and told him otherwise…
Also Iron Giant wanted to be Superman, nice parallel.
I love how it has the same premise as Iron Giant, who probably is Superman's biggest fan... Literally
Superman cartoons have always given us a lot to live up to when we were children.
They asked us to be invincible heroes, of which they created many.
This Superman cartoon is here to help us be human again.

While it was nice to see Flip be the one to find Superman, it's sad to see Superman doubt himself and his people because of one negative side of the story. Clark thinking he was sent to earth to invade in this series is reminiscent of Clark thinking the same in the Smallville series. I didn't like that plot point then and I don't like it now because Clark is making the wrong conclusion based on facts without full context. An easy mistake to make, but sad because we the audience know that Jor-El sent his son to Earth to survive, not to invade. Hopefully Superman will learn the truth from Jor-El and finally learn to understand the Kryptonian language. Meanwhile, despite his doubts, not being in peak condition, and the people of Metropolis doubting him, Superman still goes to protect the people from Parasite, even when the odds are against him. It shows the true strength of Superman's character, a man who is trying to help people.
Yeah, it's sad, but I wouldn't be surprised if that plot point gets added in because it helps humanize Superman a lot and make him even more relatable.
Everyone has problems, as it's part of being human, and sometimes it can be easy for people to struggle with self-doubts due to those problems. But like Lois says in this episode: it's all about what people choose to do that is important.
@@Scarshadow666 Agreed. And honestly, this makes me more interested in Superman than every other version so far.
To be fair Clark has been starved for answers for a while now and General Lane shows him actual footage so it's understandable Clark is overwhelmed by the revelation.
This is best version of superman I have ever seen
Took one look at that Kaiju and thought "Damn... Kinda wish Doom Slayer would jump universes real quick to beat the purple off that thing for our boy.." 😂
“You are who you choose to be”
Tfw Goku borrowed from Superman only for Superman to borrow from Goku
Superman doesn't kill people. People kill people... Wait-
I mean, the villains so far are people
This is both like Dragonball and Iron Giant. But here’s the thing, Superman isn’t a weapon he chooses to help the people of this planet. He’s more a child of earth and humanity than he’s Kryptonian at this point. As far as I’m concern since he has free will he chooses his path, this is what he was try born for. To become a symbol of hope, and those asshole be hypocrite Americans, or invading Kyrptonians or whoever else in the universe says otherwise.
So apparently from this episode we learn that Zod likely tried to attack Earth after opening up some sort of Portal but an explosion likely the destruction of Krypton or something else. Either way Clark was sent thru the portal and the portal was closed its shaping up to be that Zod will be the enemy for season 2.
or just Brainiac
They are not you, You are yourself. Be Greater, Be yourself
I wonder if this Superman will ever meet Darkseid?
I actually see no point in adding Darkseid to the mix because he would just making everything too convoluted. He's not even someone who is interesting as he's just an invader and corrupt, selfish ruler who can travel between dimension and desires to find the Anti-Life Equation so he can control all of reality. Nothing more.
Darkside shows upin superman comics on wery few times do i se no point in IT
@@Xoracious Not in the first season, maybe not even the second season. Darkseid is more of a final season threat.
But to the point of him not being interesting, that depends on the version. Some Darkseids are better written than others. The Darkseid who was once in love with the mother of Kalibak, named Suli, who was then murdered at the behest of his mother is interesting. Much can be done with that angle.
@@oliverfredrich9734 Darkseid has been a major foe of Superman since his debut. He even debuted in a Superman adjacent comic. Darkseid has also been a final boss for the man of steel numerous times. The show not introducing him would be odd considering previous animated shows featuring Superman had him as a villain.
@@factfiend1000 Well if they add Darksied. At least don't make him a overarching villain. We've already got one that is an extremely entertaining antagonist and that is Mr. Mxyzptlk. So just make him either a supporting or major antagonist.
It’s bad to kill. Weapons kill. And you don’t have to be a weapon. You are who you choose to be.
The title made me think of The Iron Giant
Have you forgotten your pride, Kal-El? We are Kryptonians, the mightiest warriors in the universe. I can still remember the day that we first sent you to this planet as an infant. We had high hopes for you then Kal-El, why have you not carried out your mission?
For a moment I feared that Lois was similar to Amber in episode 6, but she managed to evolve and do her best to protect Clark's identity and reputation from her idol Vicky Vale, love him despite discovering his evil counterparts and do her best to support him despite all the danger he is bringing to Metropolis indirectly just for being Superman.
Well I think why Lois works more than Amber here is two factors. One the series developed more time to make Lois a relatable character that we care about just as much as the superhero. To be fair to Amber, I get the feeling that in the Invincible series the normal high school characters were not really given a lot of depth and the writers wanted to focus more on the super powered characters, and they do great with that. But as a result Amber just comes off as generic side character who we know nothing about on a personal level. Meanwhile with Lois we know everything about her, what makes her tick, and followed her through the highs and lows. Which leads me to factor two on why Lois is better, when Lois makes a mistake she’s not afraid to admit when she is wrong or made a mistake or afraid to be vulnerable to others or to us the audience. When Amber confronts Invincible she mostly protests that she is right and we don’t really get a glimpse as to why she is so confident and it just comes off as arrogant for no reason. Meanwhile we know what makes Lois tick, we know from episode one she’s not supposed to be perfect, we know she has trust issues and trouble opening up, and she’s willing to take a step back and acknowledge herself and her actions and flaws. And as far as I’m concerned we as viewers feel more for a character with flaws who has to face them then for one who we’re just supposed to assume is in the right(especially when it’s not clear in the narrative)
@@johnmartin4119 That and Lois doesn't Smugly say "It seems I wasn't the Only one who was lied to."
To hell with Amber!
The Iron Giant quote converted to steel😂 ill go drive off a cliff now
Reference to the death of Superman
Can you imagine Doomsday in this show? It was already heartbreaking before, but with how hard Clark and Lois fell for one another, it be devastating.
Finding out the truth can be hard, but it only matters if you let that truth determine who you are. This version of Superman captures so many every day problems and shows how those problems can affect life to a T. I am really looking forward to how the show will progress throughout the series with the story of Superman along his friends, and how they all will change and grow along with it.
I hope in the second season the AI would speak English to explain to Clark why he's really there
Makes me think of the scene from The Iron Giant when the Giant says “Not a gun”.
This made me cry ngl
😍Lois and Superman 🥰 perfect combination.
Here’s what I think happened: Someone opened a portal to earth via that Kryptonian tech, but before they could fully invade, someone/something triggered an explosion that deactivated the portal.
Probably the destruction of Krypton
Maybe it’s Brainiac
Or maybe Jor-El learned of Zod’s invasion, and had the authorities call him back for trial. But then Krypton began to show signs of its coming destruction. Jor-El recalled how Zod was empowered on Earth, and decides to send Kal-El there as it would give him the best chance of survival.
Delicious angst
“Its bad to kill. Guns. Kill. And you don’t have to be a gun!”
I love how Goku and Superman switched their origin stories
That person on Zero Day wasn’t Jor-El
It couldn’t have been
Zero Day invasion ended when Krypton Exploded(indicated by the bright light we saw)
We saw that Jor-El was on Krypton when it happened
Clark get up you have to get up
3:08 *COD zombie scream*
So Superman is kinda like Goku. Makes since ecause they have the same backstory.
It’s unlikely the case since there are hints its actually Brainiac who invaded.. Funny enough, DB retcon made Goku more like Superman.
Not really. While they share similarities between each other, there are several key differences between Goku leaving Vegeta and Clark leaving Krypton. I’ve never seen this show so it could be different but most superman continuity suggests he left because the planet was dying in one form or another. Yes, Goku was meant to conquer but his planet was not immediately dying…until Frieza decided to hit alt-f4.
@@Vegadrait was never a retcon cause raditz wasn’t there when bardock (both Z and super versions) sent goku away cause he had a feeling frieza would do something. So they made gokus story like supermans off the bat. Goku is just Japanese Superman.
@@lucid4080 Goku is based heavily off of Son Wukong, the Monkey King, but with a sci fi twist.
Goku was originally sent to Earth to destroy it regardless of Frieza. But for some reason they recently retconned it to have him sent to Earth for his safety lol
Bro turned into godzilla
Kinda funny Clark things he is a sayain
Anyone else getting Goku vibes from Superman’s origin in this show? Namely the part were Clark actually believes he was sent to earth to destroy it?
Except Goku just lets that revelation roll off him like it’s nothing. Sent to Earth to destroy it? Meeting a long lost brother for the first time? Not dwelling on that for an instant.

Now, this is my personal problem, but every time I hear Clark I hear Lt. jg. Boimler. Jack needs to work on his voices. He's good, but they all sound the same. Maybe he can take lessons from Tara Strong (Batgirl, Rocket J Squirrel, Timmy Turner, Princess Twilight Sparkle, etc.)
0:41/ 4:03 You know the awkward part about this scene here when Clark said to Louis remember when you ask me a question about who I am while I finally got an answer for you However the awkward part is Lois already knows Cause she saw Superman's double gangers on that hologram projection she got from that pidly winked jersey And she never told him can you believe that when she and Clark promised no Secret especially considering she force Clark to reveal his secret by jumping off a building which I thought was crazy because who does that and I don't know what she calls that but there's another word for that sending Clark on a wild goose chase because that's what she did that is really cruel and proves that Clark deserves better then her and I can't believe they didn't have Clark mad at her for that In the Thanksgiving episode in fact I can't believe they didn't have Mr. Kent's shoot Lois dad to protect Clark which would have been more dramatic and interesting for the show what is wrong with the creators of the show
why's didn't they think of that?
Hey los3r Clark deserves her unlike you self-inserted bastard who just nitpicks on a small trying to demean her
She didn't do anything cruel also if that's the case then just because Clark wears glasses doesn't mean he's not a Superman.
