The clouds and the color were intimidating, but the storm was anticlimactic. I keep hearing about the chaos and destruction it caused. Yet every video I've watched doesn't even show a small branch breaking off. In the US, if you see a turquoise sky like that, you prepare to go weeks without power.
@@Lo-ky3oc you can say that, but unless you show proof, it means nothing. One thing that set me off was the losing 60% of trees. Which is exactly what Cedar Rapids lost. Seems fishy to me.
Most of the damage was concentrated in the flatter/rural parts of the city such as Barrhaven/Merivale, including Navan, etc. People lost power for almost 2 weeks. It's quite simple that no one has footage when the storm threw all it got in the hardest hit areas which have low population density, especially on a weekend during "rush hour" when people are busy driving instead of being free to record anything they see.
I'm in strathroy right next to where it broke across the lakes and it was not very fun here, it sounded like someone was shooting against all my windows
There was exrensive damage. As to power outages for weeks? Hell no, i guess your infrastructure is far worse than ours Power was out for max 10 days to 37 homes
Most the Derechos have a lot of wind well in ahead of the precipitation, this the derecho had rain before the winds even came in. This derecho was in a very humid environment. 2:15 The reason the underside of the cloud was so blue/green is because there was hail embedded in the storm. 5:10 The hail comes in. That’s why the sky was blue/green.
Late reply, but yeah, here in this instance, the wind was more calm than it should have, but that was only my area. Toronto Pearson Airport and Ottawa International Airport recorded Progressive wind increases once the storm approach
i live in Gatineau it was like a fireman hose shooting at our window with wind it was 32 c and went down to 16c in fifteen minutes i was video calling with a friend in the Uk and saw my facial expression was scared
A pretty typical storm for the Britannia beach neighborhood. Lived on Carling. the building off in the distance was mine. 2880 Carling Ave to be exact.
Anything but typical. Although an impressive video, it gives no clue to the destruction incurred on Merivale Rd and in the Navan/Sarsfield area in the east of the city.

Which one? Thor? If there is a god it either caused the storm, sat back and let it happen, or was powerless to stop it. So is your god malicious, indifferent, impotent, or non-existent?
@@wizardsuth because of your negative attitude towards the Creator God is the reason storms like this happen to ALL of us! This one was almost as bad but the Cedar Rapids derecho in August 2020 was the worst in recorded history. Then they had another derecho not quite as bad but with alot more tornadoes in December 2021
@@boltgaming248 actually I am just north of Montreal. I checked the radar and it seems it was less powerful here. Maybe the video just doesn't make it look as bad as it was. Don't mean to sound like a show off but I fortunately never lost power. People were without power for 10 days some even 12. Clean up is still happening today.

We had the rain & wind in Smiths Falls but most of it blew over on the way to Ottawa.

Where did you get those traffic lights at 5:35?
Private sale. They're plentiful on Kijiji or FB Marketplace if you've got a car and money.
Maybe he should stop swearing its making the big man upstairs more mad.
I'll also add, you can find them in junk yards too
Im wondering if we're going to get another Derecho this year. Last year was a lot of thunderstorms I'm wondering what weather will get this year.
Usually Derechos occur in the Northern US/Southern Ontario every 5 years or so. Before this, the last time it had hit Ottawa was in 2009.
