One of my personal favorites.
The feeling it conveys is cold, yet at the same time comforting. For me, I find this fits a breezy, fully-clouded night; with the distant lights of the cityscape painting the suburban sky an industrial brown color.

I always listen to this beautiful piece on a rainy day. Ugh, so atmospheric, I love it to pieces.
I think this plays when James finds Laura at the hospital because she represents the only thing pure in the town so she brings a sense of day time to the night or lightness to dark.

It's so hard to stop listning to SH music :( The feeling I get from this is what I would feel during a cold evening walk, with the trees stripped of their leaves, being all filosophical in your head and not just looking at both sides of life, but embrace it. Powerfull moments. A little sad smile.

For some reason this song makes me think of the part where James first sees Pyramid Head on the other side of the gate. It pairs well with that moment when, although James doesn't realize it, he's actually just looking at himself.

I remember one time I was really depressed and decided to go for a walk to clear my head that day was when I found this song and I set up a TH-cam playlist to lisin to I remember looking down at the floor as I left my house putting my headphones in and playing this song as I looked up there was a really thick fog in front of me and I could barely see a thing it was so strange as if I was almost in Silent Hill

I fully agree. Best song of the game, it's just too magical - beyond comprehension. I recorded it back in the day, long before I could get my hands on the official soundtrack. I named this song "Stray Child".

I'll never forget the moment I walked into that room in the hospital and I saw Laura there, and this song started to play. It made me think that there was a reason she was in this town; it made me feel like I wasn't the only lost soul searching for Mary in Silent Hill.

It is a psychological horror game. It taught me realization. About how beautiful life is, but the horrors we all experience on an individual level. In James case his horror was his wife's tragedy. We all have these horrors, but they are different for each of us. Thats what really makes these games beautiful,
This song literally made me cry, it gave me an image. It showed me a forest with a grey shining sky and this song played. To be honest it's hard for me to cry but this made me emotional a little

Last summer, I go to Prince Edward Island. This morning, it's was just fog on the road for like an hour. We were alone on the road, and I put this track on the speakers of my car. And to be fair, it was the most memorable event of my vacations.

This observation might already be old hat, but it seems to me that the image of James and Maria is overlaid with the impression of a human face. The seat of the metal stool forms the bottom of its nose, the ring encircling the stool legs forms its lips, a patch of light above the stool forms the bridge of its nose, some subtle shading to either side of this light forms its eye sockets, and the streams of light at the top of the image form strands of golden hair.
Taken as a whole, it might by Mary's face.

Simply the greatest of the SH games, perhaps the greatest Horror game, and dare I say THE best game of all time. No other game I have played had the atmosphere, soundtrack or raw emotion that this did. Absolutely nothing comes close.

I know of course that it is entirely subjective, and that nobody can really say this game, or this song or anything is 'THE best' but SH2 sure as hell is a masterpiece, whatever way you slice it; no other SH came close. The love I have for this game is real. Haha...

Now I have to get into silent Hill. Always loves Resident Evil, but never got into Silent Hill. This soundtrack makes me want to.
I sleep to this. So calming and sometimes helps me get fun silent hill dreams.
I don't know what this music does for me. Does it make me sad ? Nostalgic of my past ? Or just happy ? I sincerely don't know. The only thing I know is that I'm drowning in it.

this life has a deep meaning into it you may figure it out after long periode of painful experiences or if you are one of the chosen ones but in each case the result is the same ,my advice :live ,don't die and if you dont like this world, change it so it becomes the same as you want and imagine it to be.
There’s just something so... otherworldly, or ethereal about this OST. One of my favorite by far.
The hardships of Silent Hill have transferred into my real life over time. Without the monsters, of course. Mainly, guilt of the choices I have made in the past. It was as if playing the game was foreshadowing my future. It's funny though, the only remedy to this daily hell is through songs of the old. This is my greatest escape.

everytime i listen to silent hill music, it becomes clear to me how much of my current musical taste, and maybe even some of my tastes in general, were shaped by these games. i have a long history with silent hill, when i was six or seven i played for the first time sh3 on my uncle's ps2, but i never got past the very first area (and i mean, the very first yard you find yourself in. never even got into the park). i didn't know what to do, and i was also fairly scared. however, i was still attracted to these games (and, well, horror games, movies and stories in general) and some years later i played sh4. i played it halfway through, but at some point i got stuck and put down the game and never finished it. however, i started watching a lot of youtube videos about silent hill, things like analysis on the games, the monsters etc (i still find these videos really entertaining somehow, and keep watching them even to this day) so i got even closer to the series, despite never having fully played a game. anyway, at the start of this year (2018), i decided to play sh3, and i completed it, fourteen years after i played it for the first time. i also started listening to the soundtracks of sh2 and sh3, and i was surprised by how quickly i liked these tracks. well, ok, maybe not surprised because i've always liked moody, slow and kinda sad music, but still.. i was really drawn to the music, in the same way i was drawn to the games. and now i'm finally noticing all the things that the music i usually listen to and silent hill music have in common. in 2018 i discovered a new, deeper way of approaching music, and this was partly thanks to silent hill. so i had to write this down, i know it's just a youtube comment but it's my way of saying thanks to these beautiful games and their beautiful music

There are so many amazing Silent Hill songs, it's hard to pick just one favorite one.
I FINALLY found this! The first time I heard this was when I was playing Garry's Mod and used the Hazardousness addon's "Silent Hill" mode.
Thank you so much for this! Day of Night has to be my absolute favorite piece of music of all the Silent Hill games. The regular version is just way too short for such an amazing track.
I played Silent Hill 2 a long time ago, and I had almost forgotten about this song. Yet I would always somehow hear it in the back of my mind, almost as if it was haunting me. I thought I had made up the melody myself, but now I stumbled upon this video and remembered where I know this music from. It's such a powerful tune to me, it feels as if it's the soundtrack to my life.
This makes me reflect on all the people and events so far in my life that have come and gone and one day i will reflect on who i am now and feel the same way. Bizarre.

I'm a girl and I'm 16. I like both quotes. The one about memories and the one about failing. Both are blunt, and sad, but beautiful and true. Since I'm only 16, I probably haven't experienced as much pain you have. But I've suffered quite alot. But miracles can still happen. Though it may hurt, hoping and failing just means you have to try again. You haven't lost. I think if you give up hope, you've really lost. But it helps if someone's there. Have you no friends? Anyone to confide in at all?

I have the feeling that everything materialized in Silent Hill is created by the visitor's mind. I get the feeling that, all the messages James finds throughout the city are messages of his own unconscious mind to himself.
