  • Hey guys!! Singles Week day 4 is here!! (also, is it like singles day today or something?!?! ...like that was not planned wtf?!?) Anyway, Today I am talking about palettes that use magnets to hold thier shadows which makes them easy to depot and move around to create custom color stories!! These are the best of both worlds where you can same money with a platte and have cute packaging but also spice things up when you get bored with out total destruction!! Let me know any other brands who do palettes in this way so I can check them out!! Thanks so much for watching!! :)

    those smaller natasha denona palettes have holes in the back that you can stick a needle through and pop the shadows out easier and with less chance of ruining the shadow! just fyi

    I don’t own any of the kaleidos palettes but there’s not a chance in hell that I would depot them, they’re like works of art 😂 was awesome seeing them all together though just to appreciate the actual shades themselves!

      I would only pop out the shadows if they are magnetized and then create other palettes but out them right back!

    Depotting. Although I agree with you because it’s an undertaking, I found that I’m a visual person and now use my palettes more.
    Example: i bought 6 large z-palettes (all the same color).
    I depotted all my Juvia’s shadows and color coordinated them. Now I have all my nudes, all my warm and all my jewel colors separated. Since all these shadows were in colored palettes I never could remember what was inside, would get frustrated and lost inspiration. Now I know all my bases shades are together, all my crease colors are together, and my lid shades are together.
    It worked so well I did this with my ABH palettes and am hit pan like crazy.
    Just sharing a different perspective.
    Cheers! 🤗

    I remember the first time I found out my ColorPop plans came out. I dropped it and like half came out and I was so angry-like what the heck kind of cheap glue does this cheap brand use? Then I found out the pans were held in there by a magnet and thought it was the coolest thing ever and mixed up my first two palettes immediately! I have never had colorpop in the correct palettes since lol!

    I didn't know that the Kaleidos palettes were magnetic. I'm pretty excited about it. I have a magnet on a little extendable wand that I use to remove the pans. Another brand that comes out easily is Viseart. And now I'm testing all my palettes with my magnet. The Tati Beauty palette is magnetic, too.

    • @jaycreswell7008
      @jaycreswell7008 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Warning: the black (and maybe others) has magnetic particles in it. I destroyed mine removing it with a magnet as the magnet pulled the shadow apart.

    • @LizzaLee
      @LizzaLee 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@jaycreswell7008 YES. I forgot to mention that. The black pigment is iron oxide so it sticks to the magnet. I made a big dent in a dark green when I first started using my magnet. Now I put the clear plastic sheet from the palette between my magnet and the pan, and I don't have a problem.

    • @mirandaquinnn

      @@LizzaLee I have a magnet 🧲 on a extendable wand and love it. Thanks for the tip using a thin plastic sheet in between the pan and the magnet. I never thought of that. A lot of my old Natasha Denona shadows get stuck on the magnet. I will use your suggestion. Such great idea

    Wow. Nice that so many brands use magnets now. Brown and gold sure look less exciting when they are just there. No pretty packaging to make them look more fancy than they are. This definitely helps see how many similar shadows you have. I prefer the grouping with purples and pinks, as I am not really a fan of oranges and yellows.

    Viseart, give me glow, menagirie. You are exactly doing what I love to do... that's the reason I try to buy every single release of colourpop. They are cheap and best formula in the market. I suggest you get a strong magnet to pull eyeshadows out. This way you will also know of they depotable and won't hurt your palette. Get a zpotter to Depot glued eyeshadows.

    I love that the Colourpop palettes have magnets because I often rearrange the colour arrangement (eg the So Jaded palette) which makes it more pleasing to the eye. I also depotted the colourpop Dream St palette and put the singles in a large palette with a bunch of bought singles and then I used a retractable blade to cut away the part of the palette that held each shadow in so it created a small magnetic palette for me to store singles of different sizes in. I’m so pleased now because the So Jaded is much more satisfying to look at, and now I have an extra magnetic palette from the Dream St packaging!

    This makes me think of Molly Burke, a TH-camr who is blind. She had a video where she talked about how palettes that aren't in any order are hard for her to use because she can't memorize the colors as easily. These kinds of palettes are great because they can be reorganized into rainbow order or something else that makes it more accessible.

    This kind of depotting/making your own palette content from you has made me really mindful of my own eyeshadow collection. I feel like if I tried this with my own eyeshadows, I'd end up with 10x the amount of browns as any other color, which really helps me talk myself down from the ledge when I see yet another brown palette that my knee-jerk reaction is "Ooo, it's so pretty, must buy!"
    I'd love to see you put together some looks from the self-made palettes after you assemble them. Your eye looks are always very impressive to me so I'd be interested to see how you would wear these combinations in practice.

    I wish ND mini palettes were magnetic I have the mini star or gold and I want to swap out one color so badly!!!! I also wish more brands did magnetic pans for replacement purchases. Think of how nice it would be if you hit pan on one shade or if one shade breaks being able to pop it out and replace with a refill or new shade!

    I always do that before leaving for holidays or a weekend: I take only one palette but rearranged so it fits my mood and needs. For the magnetic palette, you can use a magnet stuck to a spatula to depot them. You get the magnet close to the pan and it just sticks to it. It's way easier and there is almost a 0% chance of breakage!
    I've also depotted all my other shadows and repanned them in round pans. I create custom palettes every 2 weeks like that. I use shadows I didn't before this way, as I can build a complete palette around less used shades.
    But now I only buy palettes that are magnetized and customizable. It fits my need better

    Also, use a kitchen magnet to take out shadows not pins or anything it is way easier and you don’t damage your shadows! Just hover the magnet over the shadow. I recently took my chasing rainbows palette from color pop and deconstructed it into my zodiac palette and sailor moon palette and now they look like a beautiful rainbow palette that i thought they should have been in the first place!

    As much as I feel it would give me the freedom to exercise and grow my creativity to depot my shadows as you did here, it makes me realize how comfortable it feels to rely on a palette to draw me into an edited color scheme. Juvias Place is also NOT effortless to pop out... ☹️☹️... Busted a few before I stopped myself from trying to see if "maybe THIS one will be an easier shade"... I'm sure it would be easier if I had warmed up the glue first, but I didn't go that route. The Fancy Face (Tina) has a really recent video where she depots her Pat McGrath palettes... Lots of good tips for glued palettes in that video.
