Well done Rusty, I installed the Safety Dave system in my car, as my new caravan had the system and love it! Install was easy, I removed my rear vision mirror and put the monitor in it's place. Keep up the good work

Thanks Tony. I've kept my existing rear vision mirror because it doubles as a screen for my reversing camera.

Good review mate and nice set up, rear view camera is definitely something I need to invest in 👍🏻

Just relying on the side mirrors was never going to work out, so the rear view camera was a must have!

This what I need, good example is when a police car came up behind me and due to the fact you cant see, only just the 2 lanes either side of me and I didnt see him behind and he was in a bit of a rush, so I need to do something about it, thanks for sharing

Hey Brad...always need to know who/what is behind you. When I installed this system, I opted for the dual input screen, as I also installed a camera at the back of my caravans. Using the Safety Dave 'wazza' cable, I connect from the plug on the towbar to the plug on the caravan's A frame, and select 'V2' input...and now I can see what's behind the caravan.

@@RustysOutbackAdventures You are right there, just bought a 2018 Nissan Nav with a canopy similar to yours so a camera is next,
      Cheers

Looks like a good system. We have a similar setup for the Coaster and the trailer it tows but we went wireless as we were just short enough. Unfortunately the camera lenses seem to cloud up over time and we haven't found a way to fix them and we have tried all the ways we have been able to find.

I've not heard of the camera lenses clouding over. Are you able to clean them on the outside but they cloud over again, or is it something on the inside of the camera???

@@RustysOutbackAdventures I have tried cleaning the outside but that has made no difference. It may be inside but I don't think so and they are sealed units. Mine came from Jaycar and I would not recommend them. Sadly everyone is using plastic for lenses not glass.

That's a shame if it's on the inside of the camera unit. Being sealed, it's hard to 'break it open' to clean it. Your only option sounds like a new camera.

Thanks Rusty for going to the trouble to show Safety Dave system. I have a very similar ute canopy setup with rear gas lift door and am looking at rear vision mirror monitor instead of dash monitor. Is there a reason why you preferred to have the dash monitor? Do you find the dash monitor obscures vision of the road in any way? Thanks again.

Hi Chris, I chose the Safety Dave system with dual rear facing cameras (1 on the canopy and 1 on the caravan) and the windscreen mounted monitor, because I have a reversing camera (mounted on the rear number plate and pointing at my tow ball) connected to my rear vision mirror unit. The SD monitor is tucked in the lower corner of the windscreen so it's not really a hindrance to my vision.

Hi I have one but not getting a picture any ideas

Hi Patrick, is the screen connected to 12V under the dash, with a good earth? Also, is the cable to the camera plugged in correctly??
Is the screen and camera a matched set, because my new caravan's camera wasn't compatible with my older version screen, so I had to replace the screen in my Navara, now everything works fine.
