- Sorry for not uploading in a while, life happens. Just thought I'd give a quick update. The Dodge was involved in an accident and was totaled. I made the decision to transfer everything over to my 1995 Ford F350 which was originally a 351 gasser truck. Still have a long way to go but it's fun to drive and tows really well. I'll keep you guys updated in the future on this truck...Hopefully.

the OBS ford is a sweet platform for this type of modification with a roomy engine compartment. Cool swap!

Stock 12v def more hp. Torque? Maybe not. I have the pump turned down to accommodate the smaller turbo. But if I went back to an HY35 I could crank it up and get well past 400tq if I wanted to.
my man, the 7.3 powerstroke that comes in the post 94 OBS makes 475ft*lb, and can easily make much more

At a certain point you're battling displacement, and the same mods you do to the smaller engine you can do to the larger engine.
@@om606ram6 i bet the boys from DieselPumpUK beg to differ. and their billet parts looks so awesome. i love our 99 powerstroke, but a turned up 606 with a custom pump, custom intake and exhaust, nice turbo would sound way cool. I will never find out as we only have 250k on it. It will run like that forever.

they got their OM's down to a tee and use billet parts and inhouse designs.
Not a fair comparison.
I think in this case the OM was swapped because it's a smoother road oriented lighter engine instead of the more industrial chonker but still has enough of the big diesel engine properties for your towing needs and good enough reliability and maintenance ease.

Great choice of a truck I personally like this much better than the ram. Are you going to turn up the power a little due to the extra weight? Or does the lower gearing help it get up and go just fine? I'd imagine it's a 4.11 or something
4.10 gearing. Literally uses no power to get going or keep up with traffic.

Oh man this truck came out really good is there any power loss differences from going from the dodge to the ford body I know there a bit of a weight difference
The Ford is 1k lbs heavier than the Dodge, but the Dodge always had stuff in the back seat and the bed that put it around 5500lbs or so. The Ford with me in it is 6k lbs. the Ford has 4.10 gearing while the Dodge was 3.92. You literally feel 0 difference.
Did you have to use a different oil pan or just the stock front sump one?

Oh they've been on the band wagon for 3 years now. They used to be 500-$1000 and now they're 3k.
@@om606ram6 dammit...I was going to do this swap back in 2010 but it got put off because of circumstances beyond my control.
@@chrishultgren777 Yeah it all started with the W123 drift wagon. It took a few years to get traction, but it became the new engine to swap. I've always wanted to swap one into a truck, and always wanted a diesel truck so I just acted on it and built my Dodge. Once I posted about my dodge and people seen how effortlessly it moved the Dodge, I started seeing other people putting them in truck.
thats the dream, i want a 300sd engine in my 2009 f150, too many computers sensors today its a nightmare, got the 5.4 3v in it
You won't like the 617 in a full sized truck. I'd recommend a 606 or a 648.

Just a built pump and a turbo swap. This was an NA 606 before I turbo'd it.
@@om606ram6 I have a NA 606 laying around, did you do any internal motor work or did you just "slap" a turbo in it? ive been wanting to do this exact thing. love the build!

@@tylerbearden1649 Yeah Mercedes transmission. Custom made mounts, transmission cross member, and the Ford driveshaft connected to a Mercedes to American drive shaft adapter.
I own two of these cars om606 turbo diesel diesel Mercedes 1999 e300 they are good 👍 reliable strong engine

What MPG do you get city / highway? Do you pull alot of weight?
18-19 city. 23hwy. I pull the occasional car on the 70DM trailer. I don't do heavy hauling.
I've wanted to check these engines out but the cost is getting crazy
He's using an N/A Motor with a bigger pump and turbo added. You can make a lot of power (relatively) with the N/A motors reliably for a long time and they're cheap and available. I think he has put 60k miles on this engine and it's been I'm 3 different trucks since the original w124. And thats with a heavy vehicle under load and boost and sometimes towing. If you want to for peace of mind throw some turbo Rods or aftermarket Rods you can always choose that option as well.
this is awesome man! I've got a turbo 606 motor sitting on a pallet. I was going to build a tow truck with it but everyone says it would be too small to tow a skid steer or 15 cows and that's what I would need it for. what do you think?
Honestly you would not like towing 15 cows with it. The most I towed in this Ford when the 606 was in the Dodge I had. Total rolling weight was 14,160lbs. You could tell the temps would go up a bit, and that's about as much as I would tow.

Sick truck man hows ur mpg wondered what a full sized truck would get heard people still getting 25 30 mpg
I get 23mpg on the highway with 4.10's. Going to 3.73's in the future and I'll re calculate.

How did you rig the fuel system. I have a 92 F150 that I want to do this to, but it has electric punps in both tanks. Do both tanks work in your truck?
I disconnected the fuel pumps and ran a tank sump from "Beans Diesel" in the front tank. Currently the front tank is the only one that works. I can run the same sump on the rear and splice it into the feed line. The mechanical fuel pump on the injection pump pulls fuel from the sumps.

It's the stock roof skin. Someone painted it white cause the AC went bad and they lived in Arizona.
C230 has 5 and 6sp that fit 606 directly
Yeah, but the single mass clutch they make that can handle power rattles like a box of rocks and the transmission came with the donor car haha.

What transmission you got? You using a mechanical injection pump?
Stock 722.6 from the e300. And yes used a mechanical pump from an OM603 that was sent off to benzForce to get built.

I had previously swapped my dodge. Pieced it all together myself and made it all work.

No, actually the opposite.
To stay up with traffic it takes less than 10% throttle. Towing takes some more obviously. When you reach 70mph it feels like you float and use minimal power.

The stock Automatic from the E300 donor car.

Yes and it's the 3rd American truck this engine has been in. It tows, gets great mpg and makes tons of power and has proven its durability being less than half the size of the powerstroke and cummins.

@@andrewiglesias6372 the first truck was wrecked a ram 1500 RIP 💀- 2nd was another ram for a couple yrs but he wanted a heavier duty chassis and eventually put it into this f250
It's been in 2 trucks. First truck was matte black and was painted white a few years later. It was totaled in an accident and then I swapped it into the Ford. I've got over 80k miles combined with both trucks on this 606.

Mpg? 0 to 60 mph?
It averages 23mpg on the highway. 0-60 is pretty quick. Never counted it but it's twice as fast as a stock Mercedes E300.
@@om606ram6 so this is basically like a ride around truck or for light Towing at this point I would not expect it to tow 14000 lb? Maybe yes for short distances across town but not on the highway
