Introducing what I like to call ' Nevernamed's latest desperate attempt to be funny'. Also some of the music in this video is from a game called Wuppo. I would 100% reccomend it. Just a tip.
Nevernamed I have some skill with file rebuilding, maybe some of those "empty" images actually contain content, but don't display due to corruption. If you can explain how to get access to these files, I can try to restore them if they have any content.
Chest Ahead is a reference to dark souls where players could write messages in the floors and be shared across servers. Often used to find secret rooms. One would probably appear before a secret room like the Brick of Cash
CuttingRoom floor is a mod by GoldenRevolver that brought back alot of these cut items. I recently upgraded the functionality of his Monster Ball item by converting enemies caught by into functional companions that follow you instead of standard charmed enemies you normally can't bring with you into new rooms.
“Next quarter” is a reference to arcade cabinets where you would put a quarter on the marquee to reserve the next game. It’s probably an extra life or a way to change your gungeoneer mid-run.
Yeah considering the uncanny face it has and the blood red texture, I'm assuming it's effect would have been similar to the stone dome and/or increases damage maybe
40 whole minutes of gungeon unused content. Dear. God. Add on: the “monster ball” and “moster sphere” was likely removed due to it’s EXTREMELY HIGH resemblance to an item from The Binding Of Isaac Rebirth, of a similar name. They both work the same: throw at enemy, they become charmed, throw it out. Add on 2: The Wonder Scroll “the one with a supposedly random effect” is also likely a reference to a Binding of Isaac Rebirth item, “Dead Sea Scrolls”, which, when used, has a random effect. Add on 3: I think that box red and box green are like active versions of the ammo boxes, maybe? Add on 4: Car Battery is likely a reference to the Binding of Isaac Rebirth item, car battery, that lets you charge, and use, an active item twice. Add on 5: While the idea of the elite badge mentioned in the video is probably right, I feel it might be something along the lines of “increased curse but just a flat damage increase aswell” Add on 6: I know, I’m a Binding of Isaac freak, but, halo, in the Binding of Isaac (with a very similar sprite), is an all stats up. Maybe the halo in gungeon would’ve been similar? Add on 7: the leaf item, resembles “gnawed leaf”, an item from (guess what game) The Binding of Isaac, that makes the player invincible while standing perfectly still. Add on 8: the “pouches” item looks a lot like the holster item. Add on 9: Ring of boomerang mastery may have been similar to the *Binding of Isaac item*, broken mirror, which makes projectiles arc towards the player as if the player had immense gravity Add on 10: Training droid would have likely been like the familiar that spawns when you use that one specific rocket launcher (I forgot it’s name), where it would orbit you and occasionally shoot at enemies.
20:16 "Foz die" is likely a reference to Metal Gear's "Fox Die" virus. It even has a similar logo to Foxhound. 26:44 Okay, I think someone at Dodge Roll is a Metal Gear Solid fan.
The entire team must be metal gear fans, the was cycling weapons works is similar to MGS1, and quick swapping between the last two guns used could be inspired by MGS2
26:10 these are probably references to: Contra, along with the P and P+ 27:47 its a reference to the golden ring in: Lord of the rings, One ring to rule them all. Ya know 26:37 this is probably a stretch, but it's probably a reference to the: Dragon Ball radar from where else: Dragon Ball 28:17 the scary mask references: RED. the main antagonist from the: NES Godzilla creepypasta
14:25 Dear God! 23:29 Master Exploder is a song by Tenacious D from the movie Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny 26:15 Power ups from Contra games 26:32 Dragon Ball radar
20:14 Foz Die is a pretty common Metal Gear reference, where "Fox Die" was a virus created so it would only kill certain targeted people, usually making it look like a heart-attack ((There are so many Metal Gear references in this game, i knew Fox Die had to be one)) 21:22 just might be another Metal Gear reference 28:51 another Dark Souls reference, obviously about the lost souls you can find and use to gain more *souls* ((currency in-game)) 33:52 Gears Of War reference, "Hammer Of Dawn" is a really important weapon on that series, mainly for the story
31:24 Time code tattoo is a reference to Futurama where Fry gets the code for Paradox free time travel tattooed on him Edit: I'd also like to say how impressive it is you got any many references as you have
Gungeon: hey Tboi can i copy your items? Tboi: yeah but change them a little bit. Gungeon: *Basically copies gnawed leaf and puts 'Leaf' as a sprite name* nah scrap it.
The gnawed leaf in a reference to tanookis and foxes how would transform using a leaf with a notch out of it. It could be completely unrelated to Isaac
A wonderful collection of unused content! Here's some of the references that may or may not be accurate The "Climbing Glove" is a reference to the item of the same name in Spelunky The "Gun Stop Credit Chit" isn't misspelled, "Chit" is a real term used for a voucher of sorts The "Leaf" may be a reference to the "Gnawed leaf" from BoI or from Animal Crossing. The strange green "V" of "Master Exploder" is likely an old-school armor pickup from games like DOOM or Serious Sam The "Ring of Invisibility" is likely plain to look similar to the One Ring from Lord of the Rings The "Time Code Tattoo" is a reference to at least Futurama, where a character discovers a tattoo that allows time travel the "Training Droid" is likely a reference to the original Star Wars film A "Reversed Polarity Sonic Screwdriver" likely has an opposite of reversed effect to a Sonic Screwdriver... which is anything apparently The "Killamajig" appears similar to the illustrations of Dr. Seuss and has a related-ly absurd name The "Deposit Key" may be a reference to an item in Risk of Rain which adds an additional chest to every level The "Cartographers Assistant" appears somewhat visually similar to a Ghost from Destiny "Bloo Blood" may be named such because it could use Goo, or because "Bloo" is blood misspelled
15:28 I’m fairly certain the Cartographer’s Assistant is a reference to the Monitors from Halo. In Halo 4, there’s a mission entitled “The Silent Cartographer”, and Monitors are essentially the janitors/tour guides of Halo rings.
30:02 T Stopper is probably a reference to Mega Man 2, as there is a weapon in that game that stops time and has an icon like that. Also I think weapons had 1 letter for the first word in early megaman games.
14:42. The bubble candy sorta reminds me off the bubble charm from candies n curses. It's a charm that every room you get a three hit bubble/shield, just sherch it up for details. But that might serve as a explanation
Wow that secret message around 2:56 is really cool, could this be hinting at an ARG? We just have to check the link in the secret to find out. Cleets and Gloves are probably a reference to Spelunky, and the candy as well as some other graphics look old (in my opinion) because they have a completely different style than the rest of the items. This is also supported by the fact that the candy charges by room, which means at some point in development it was probably just a tBoI ripoff, or something of the sort. The winged powerup sprites are a reference to the game Contra. The summoning book is a reference to ye olden Final Fantasy games where green orbs would come from your player when you summoned something. The T Stopper is a reference to the Megaman Weapon of course. Training Droid is an obvious reference to Star Wars. The medkit is a reference to DooM, as the sprite looks almost exactly like the one from DooM but scaled down of course.
I love your old man bullet voice. c: Also, 'moving chest' made me think of the similarly named item in binding of isaac that lets you store items in it to take them with you to other rooms. Something like that would be useful to keep the Handsome Ratto from getting them.
30:04 The "T. Stopper" Is likely a prototype of a feature that actually was implemented. The "Get Equipped With -F-" Synergy for the Megahand is actually based on a weapon from Mega Man 2. That weapon was the Time Stopper, and four pointed stars/sparkle effects are associated with it, so this might have been how they initially had it work, as an Active, rather than changing the Megahand Weapon by reloading while at full ammo.
21:03 Chit is actually a real word that is appropriately used. Taken from Merriam-Webster: Chit _noun_ a small slip of paper with writing on it _especially_ : a signed voucher of a small debt (as for food)
29:45 - those are Final Fantasy summoning orbs; those symbols are used in a lot of the games during summoning. I also appreciate the Nightmare King Grimm music during that scene.
I'm impressed with how many cut items are in this game. 21:04 "Chit" is not a misspelling. A chit is like a receipt, invoice, or statement of credit. My guess is that Gun Stop Chit indicated that the gungeoneer held store credit, and would allow for a discounted or free gun purchase.
Just a weird side note: The little subtext for the fairy wings is, despite it's vagueness, a reference to a character from Dragon Age known as Sandal, who would only say one or two words. His most notable being, of course, Enchantment.
Climbing Head was a terraria reference, Stud Finder is Lego games, training droid is starwars... Im shocked how much cut content there is in this game that just references random games haha, awesome
Foz Die is almost certainly a Metal Gear reference. It's almost identical in appearance to the logo of the "FOXHOUND" unit, and its name likely references the "FOXDIE" virus from the series.
The shrinking lightning bolt item is probably a reference to Mario Kart, the green climbing gloves probably reference Spelunky, and I think the Time Code Tattoo is a reference to one of the Futrama movies where Fry travels through time by reading the binary code tattooed on his butt. I wonder how that would have been implemented as an item? Also maybe the bandage referenced Super Meat Boy? That might be a bit of a stretch though.
11:53 Something I would have loved if it were in the game, is if you got this final round while fighting the Lich, and maybe it could have been the final blow against the lich.
22:12 the Killamajig is a reference to the Ceremonial Killamajig from Futurama, a metalic club with a random assortment of weapons sticking out of it that the robot elders give to Bender and ask him to kill Fry and Leela.
I think the "Chest Ahead Messages" would have been from the Cartography Assistant, like a Brick of Cash that marks doors you need to use to get to a chest as fast as possible.
20:09 that is a reference to metal gear. That is the logo of foxhound, the organization that snake works for. I havent played MGS4, but I know that there is something known as the foxdie virus that's important to the plot
31:24 Timecode Tattoo is probably a reference to a Futurama, where in one episode, they find a code in binary tattooed onto someone’s butt, that if said aloud made a time portal. The training droid is probably from Star Wars 4, where Luke trains using a small orb that shoots lasers.
The Raccoon is a reference to Sly Cooper as Sly Cooper was a theif (and raccoon) and his last game did deal with time travel. Also I heard Angle Dust from Hazbin Hotel during the Ring of Giant Strength entry. Also the Wonder Scroll could of have the random ability you said but that would make it really close to TBoI's Sunken Scroll.
29:45 is reference to final fantasy summoning of summons, espers, guardian forces, Eidolons, Aeons/ Avatars. The exact design of the is seen in final fantasy brave exvius from my experience.
The Climbing gloves appear to be a reference to Spelunky- that game had a lot of verticality and had a green climbing glove item. "I'm reversing the polarity of the neutron flow" was the catchphrase of one of the Dr. Who characters. and maybe "Relidion" is a veiled reference to Ridiculon?
Time code tattoo is probably a reference to one of the Futurama movies where Fry has a code tattooed on himself that allows one to time travel when it is read aloud
18:26 Based on all the other MGS references in Gungeon it likely would've been a reference to Metal Gear Solid 2, where you can collect the dogtags of enemy guards by holding them up and threatening them. 20:15 Another MGS reference. It resembles the insignia of the fictional special forces group FOXHOUND and it's name is probably a reference to FOXDIE, which is a fictional virus that targets specific people based on DNA. 15:47 The messages are a refernce to Dark Souls where with the Orange (Sign?) Soapstone item you can write simple messages that can be seen by other players. (It would probably spawn signs near chest rooms to tell you where chests are, and possibly even some misleading messages) 28:53 Another Dark Souls reference. Consumable soul items have similar names(eg.: Soul of Lost Undead)
Cartographer's Assistant is most likely a reference to Prometheus(Alien Series) Where there is a robot that can move freely and scan areas for a 3d map. The item would probably be used and go ahead some rooms to scan them over time The climbing glove looks similar to the climbing gloves from spelubky, and might have let you hang on ledges of pits as cover, which would be pretty cool.
"Bloo Blood" is possibly a reference to Homestuck, Where the character Equius' Blood is blue, and he spells it like that due to his typing quirk. "Fatman" is probably a fallout reference, since there's a mininuke launcher in those games named as such. "Foz Die" is a metal gear reference, in those games there's a virus called FOXDIE and the icon looks like the logo of the military unity FOX-HOUND from MGS. The purple powerup with a P is possibly a reference to Touhou Project, though the items that increase your power in that are usually red. RatDie Virus could also be a reference to FOXDIE from MGS. "Training droid" is an obvious Star Wars a New Hope reference.v "peep boy" is fallout again, referencing the pip-boy. Anyway, everyone's probably said these already but here's the things I caught
14:05 could be a reference to the Homestuck character Equuis who says "Bloo" instead of "Blue" and he literally has blue blood, but i suppose we'll never know the items lore
Video:Plays Nightmare king grimm bossfight music Me:PTSD fashbacks Also the time code tattoo is a reference to a futurama episode, in the show it was used to time travel but im not sure on how the hell you could get this from opening a chest.
Scary Mask is an obvious nod to Red from the Creepypasta NES Godzilla, where red was the main antagonist of the Creepypasta. It could have many uses, but I believe its an reskined version of Bullet Idol, only it gives curse as well. It could be a reference to Halloween masks as well, but all I know is that it's a reference to the Creepypasta.
Sly Scooper is a reference to the Sly Cooper series, Foz Die is a metal gear reference to Fox Die, the chest ahead message text is also a dark souls reference
The dog tags item likely is a passive that causes dog tags to drop when you kill enemies. It's probably a reference to COD and its "kill confirmed" gamemode. On pickup they give money or something else.
\/ My ideas on some of the items w/o Ammonomicon entries. The Ice pack looks like an early version of the Ice Cube? That sounds reasonable, no? The Leaf looks like it's a leaf that would've been on top of a tanuki, and I can only assume that it'd do the same as the gnawed leaf from isaac. Pouches looks like it maybe could be a development version of the Pilot's hidden compartment? The Scary mask might've done something to lower aggresion or prevent some weaker enemies from attacking you. Though that doesn't make as much sense in gungeon. The Smart Bullets looks like a development version of the Homing Bullets present in the Gungeon. The Terrible Ammo Bag and Terrible Leather Jacket honestly feel like some kind of version of the PAYDAY crossover items? Like, an ammo bag that increases ammo drops but at the cost of dropping them when you get hit, and the Terrible Leather Jacket letting you gain idk gang members. You think the treasure map is related to the resourceful rat in any way?
Kind of late, but Time Code Tattoo is a references to one of futurama's films, where fry discovers he has a bender tattoo made of binary Code that when read out loud allows for time travel
23:34 Master Exploder is reference to Tenacious D song. And iteam here is a pick od destiny 26:16 powerups lookl like from Contra on NES 31:22 Training Droid is reference to Star Wars
Layer 1 is presumably a tube of nuclear waste, Layer 6 is probably just some random stick of lead, and the leaf is a reference to Animal Crossing(as the furniture items in those games are shown as leaves in the inventory).
Bloo Blood may actually be a reference to the Blobulonians. As it is spelled "Bloo" like blue and goo. As you pointed out, blue blood usually refers to royalty. As your most recent video pointed out, the Blobulonians had a royal hierarchy. So the Bloo Blood may be, lorewise, connected to the Blobulonians. Also that blood is looking suspiciously viscous to be normal human blood.
Climbing glove is a reference for Spelunky Grey crown is a reference to Nuclear Throne where crowns are one of main goals Master Exploder is for a song and THE BEST BAND IN THE WOOORLD! Tenacious D IT resembles a guitar pick from their movie

Hey, It's nice to see a person who put the name of the music in the timelimes, Thank You
Love the hollow knight music used in this video
2:56 there you have it. the true answer.
11:53 Something I would have loved if it were in the game, is if you got this final round while fighting the Lich, and maybe it could have been the final blow against the lich.
Love the description of the knightmare Kong’s theme
Im 999% sure that the sound you hear in the background at 6:14 is angel dust saying "harder"
Peep boy is pip boy from fallout, scorpions hook is scorpions hook from mortal Kombat and master of unlocking is a reference to resident evil 1
22:12 the Killamajig is a reference to the Ceremonial Killamajig from Futurama, a metalic club with a random assortment of weapons sticking out of it that the robot elders give to Bender and ask him to kill Fry and Leela.
“SARS Mask.”

I think the "Chest Ahead Messages" would have been from the Cartography Assistant, like a Brick of Cash that marks doors you need to use to get to a chest as fast as possible.
The training droid is 100% a reference to star wars. In a new hope Luke uses a droid to train his lightsaber skills
20:09 that is a reference to metal gear. That is the logo of foxhound, the organization that snake works for. I havent played MGS4, but I know that there is something known as the foxdie virus that's important to the plot
23:40 master exploder is a reference to 'tenacious D'. The green sprite is the pick of destiny
the fact you have the snip of that cultist at the end. means you know where it came from
31:24 Timecode Tattoo is probably a reference to a Futurama, where in one episode, they find a code in binary tattooed onto someone’s butt, that if said aloud made a time portal.
The training droid is probably from Star Wars 4, where Luke trains using a small orb that shoots lasers.
The climbing gloves are probably a reference to the popular roguelike Speluky which contains an item that both looks similar and has the same name.
6:14 don't think i wouldn't notice that little clip of you know who ;)
I can't go anywhere without hearing a reference to hazbin hotel at its hilarious
The climbing glove is a reference to the original spelunky game, for it uses both the same name and the same sprite
2:55 "epstein didnt kill himself"
18:26 Based on all the other MGS references in Gungeon it likely would've been a reference to Metal Gear Solid 2, where you can collect the dogtags of enemy guards by holding them up and threatening them.
20:15 Another MGS reference. It resembles the insignia of the fictional special forces group FOXHOUND and it's name is probably a reference to FOXDIE,
which is a fictional virus that targets specific people based on DNA.
15:47 The messages are a refernce to Dark Souls where with the Orange (Sign?) Soapstone item you can write simple messages that can be seen by other players.
(It would probably spawn signs near chest rooms to tell you where chests are, and possibly even some misleading messages)
28:53 Another Dark Souls reference. Consumable soul items have similar names(eg.: Soul of Lost Undead)
Cartographer's Assistant is most likely a reference to Prometheus(Alien Series) Where there is a robot that can move freely and scan areas for a 3d map. The item would probably be used and go ahead some rooms to scan them over time
The climbing glove looks similar to the climbing gloves from spelubky, and might have let you hang on ledges of pits as cover, which would be pretty cool.
i was watching this in my bed and the game theory part scared me so bad
Just in case someone misinterprets your sentence, I think you meant to say "typing quirk" not "dying quirk"
Fixed it, don't know what the hell was going on with my brain there
14:05 could be a reference to the Homestuck character Equuis who says "Bloo" instead of "Blue" and he literally has blue blood, but i suppose we'll never know the items lore
imagine if the last master round wouldnt give HP but instead sent you to the boss room of Kaliber herself!
now that would be an epic final boss
Video:Plays Nightmare king grimm bossfight music
Me:PTSD fashbacks
Also the time code tattoo is a reference to a futurama episode, in the show it was used to time travel but im not sure on how the hell you could get this from opening a chest.
“Bullet Kin, Corner Pocket” got me better than it should have.
The training Droid is most definitely a star wars reference
The thunderbolt item is a reference to the same thing from Mario kart!
I hated that thing.
I'm pretty sure the climbing gloves are from Spelunky.
FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE NOTICED
The scary mask is most likely a reference to red from the Godzilla creepy pasta
20:08 Foz Die is probably a reference to Foxhound from metal gear which has the same logo
RatDie Virus and FozDie are definitely Metal Gear references
Kind of late, but Time Code Tattoo is a references to one of futurama's films, where fry discovers he has a bender tattoo made of binary Code that when read out loud allows for time travel
23:34 Master Exploder is reference to Tenacious D song. And iteam here is a pick od destiny
26:16 powerups lookl like from Contra on NES
31:22 Training Droid is reference to Star Wars
master exploder is a reference to the song "master exploder " by tenacious D, the abstract green v is actually the pick of destiny
the power ups are mega man references and were probably linked to the Mega Hand
Foz Die is a reference to Metal Gear as one of the groups' logos in the games is a fox holding a knife in it's mouth.
The bucket looks almost exactly like the obsidian shell casing
Layer 1 is presumably a tube of nuclear waste, Layer 6 is probably just some random stick of lead, and the leaf is a reference to Animal Crossing(as the furniture items in those games are shown as leaves in the inventory).
Soul of a lost space marine is a reference to dark souls as that looks very similar to one of the small soul consumables
The sword in 3:35 its actually very similar to the one sword seen in the hunters past.
Wait, why didn't they include the Pokeball? That sounded so cool :/
Climbing glove is a reference for Spelunky
Grey crown is a reference to Nuclear Throne where crowns are one of main goals
Master Exploder is for a song and THE BEST BAND IN THE WOOORLD! Tenacious D
IT resembles a guitar pick from their movie
20:08 foz die is probably a reference to "fox hound", a organisation from mgs.
