      Honestly I dont support throwing drinks and food on the ice since that can hurt someone but at least it shows that they care. As A leafs fan who literally went through some dark times as a child whos team stunk very rarely (till about 2012) would the fans react. IMO food and drink is no good (a full car of beer can seriously hurt someone and even kill them if its thrown hard enough) but i do think its fine to throw Jerseys.

      I despise called back goals like that when there was no penalty called. Like, the ref gave no shits until they scored. If it was goalie interference because he was body checked, that's a penalty. If you weren't going to call it, then the goal should stand. It's different if there's incidental contact in the crease. Which, speaking of, there's no way that first goal is called back. The contact has to be enough to prevent the save, and Murrey wasn't even close (plus, I believe it deflected, so he wouldn't have been able to save it without interfering with the devil player).

      There was another play where marner got high sticked, went down on the ice and was there for a few seconds, play kept going even though the refs never signaled for a penalty, even the devils announcers said they never saw an arm up, play was blown dead and then a penalty was called

    • @crbrearley
      @crbrearley 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That was a hat pick. Just a good play by a veteren. Leafs might have taken the penalty kill there rather than have another minute in their zone with that exhausted group.

      @@crispychris9492 The arm never went up. The linesman made the call on that one apparently. Not going to defend Marner's embellishments. On the other hand, Matthews doesn't embellish and gets comparatively few calls for a guy whose often fouled.
      I'm less outraged by embellishment than most fans (and not just when my team's players do it). I don't love it but it's one of the things that makes defenders have to be more tentative and I generally favor that.

    The problem isn't that the goals were called off. The problem is that we have seen all of those exact types plays get called the other way repeatedly over the years. The NHLs calling of each one of these plays the kick included has been incredibly inconsistent. It's hard not to view the calls as 50/50 coin flips. So when the Devils have all 3 calls go against them there's not really any other way to feel but ripped off and cheated.

    The thing for me is that in any game, any decision regarding each of the goals would've been relatively okay, 1st could've been counted or waived, 2nd counted or waived, 3rd counted or waived. But it's the fact that ALL THREE happened in one game that is astonishing.
    Even seeing others comments it's so divided amongst which are right and wrong.
    If any one of those goals were isolated, I dont think there would be any issue. It's just incredible they all happened together in one game, to end a 13 game win streak

    • @reaganharder1480
      @reaganharder1480 2 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      Yeah, I'm with you. If there were one I would say should have counted, it's the second one, because like, what is Tatar supposed to do? He's skating behind the net, taking a line to not just plow right through Murray, and Murray just kinda acts like there's no one he should have to worry about avoiding, and by the time Tatar could see that there may be a problem he really doesn't have time to avoid contact. Based on that precedent, you might think goalies are gonna start trying to initiate contact with skaters behind their net after playing the puck because if they make a bad turnover, now they have a freebie because "I was interfered with".

      To be fair, it's the fault of the damn trapezoid behind the nets. Since they added this stupid rule, goalies have become less adept at handling the puck. I loved it when a guy like Brodeur would jump on a puck in the corner and snipe a pass center ice while the other team thought it was an icing call and would be taken by surprise. High risk high reward plays, allows to relaunch the attack quicker on the powerplay when the puck is cleared from the offensive zone.

    2nd the puck was actually going to miss the net until the goalie tipped it in and since no penalty was called on the play that should have counted.

    My opinion on the Devils reviews:
    1. Pretty clear cut goaltender interference. It's minor contact, but has a major effect on Murray's ability to move freely. No goal.
    2. This play is the definition of incidental contact outside the crease. The Devils player doesn't stick his foot out or anything, their legs just make contact because Murray didn't notice the guy coming around the net, who had already committed to going between Murray and the net. Should have been a good goal.
    3. No goal, as per the rulebook, but the rule is dumb. I think it should be: if the puck is on target when the puck leaves the kicking skate, no goal. If the puck is not on target when it leaves the kicking skate and is subsequently deflected into the net by anything on the ice, good goal.

    • @BoredDan7
      @BoredDan7 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      "69.4 Contact Outside the Goal Crease - If an attacking player initiates
      any contact with a goalkeeper, other than incidental contact, while the
      goalkeeper is outside his goal crease, and a goal is scored, the goal
      will be disallowed.
      A goalkeeper is not “fair game” just because he is outside the goal
      crease. The appropriate penalty should be assessed in every case
      where an attacking player makes unnecessary contact with the
      goalkeeper. However, incidental contact will be permitted when the
      goalkeeper is in the act of playing the puck outside his goal crease
      provided the attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid
      such unnecessary contact.
      When a goalkeeper has played the puck outside of his crease and
      is then prevented from returning to his crease area due to the
      deliberate actions of an attacking player, such player may be
      penalized for goalkeeper interference. Similarly, the goalkeeper may
      be penalized, if by his actions outside of his crease he deliberately
      interferes with an attacking player who is attempting to play the puck
      or an opponent."
      Tatar chose to cut between Murray and the net. They prevented Murray from returning to their crease. That is not a "reasonable effort" to avoid the contact and it was a "deliberate action" that prevented Murray from returning to his crease.

    • @CharlesABelair
      @CharlesABelair 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BoredDan7 To add to that 2nd goal, if you look at it closely, you can actually see that Tatar pushes Murray with his left arm. It would have been deemed incidental as he could have tried to avoid him to the best of his capacity, but by deliberately shoving Murray out of play, of course it was going to be no goal.
      However, I clearly agree on the 3rd goal that if there is kicking motion, but that the initial trajectory of the puck was not the net, it should count as a goal. Steve's video doesn't show the best angle possible for the review, but the puck was going on the complete opposite way of the net, until it hit Leafs' Robertson's skate which directed it into the net. Haula was most likely aiming the puck to his teammate crashing the net, not actually trying to kick the puck inside the net

    • @aidanbaksh8985
      @aidanbaksh8985 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CharlesABelair I disagree that Tatar pushes him with his arm. When you bump into someone shoulder to shoulder, it's natural for your arm to swing back like that. He *may* have pushed Murray, but there's very plausible deniability and I don't think you can base a call on that. Also if the refs thought he actually pushed him, they would have called a penalty and not just waived off the goal.

    • @aidanbaksh8985
      @aidanbaksh8985 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BoredDan7 Yes, Tatar chose to cut between Murray and the net, but looking at the play holistically, where else should Tatar have gone? As Tatar starts to go behind the net, he is clearly aware that Murray is there playing the puck. The puck is along the boards, and Murray had his body quite close to the boards as well, certainly close enough that there would be significant contact if a player tried to go between him and the boards. As such, Tatar cuts up ice and takes the inside line to avoid contact with Murray. Unless you were expecting Tatar to come to a full stop behind the net, or cut back to Murray's left on essentially 0 notice, I'm not sure what other reasonable effort he could have made to avoid the contact.

    • @BoredDan7
      @BoredDan7 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CharlesABelair Whether he intended to kick it in or not and whether he kicked it at the net or across does not matter.
