Bul Armory SAS2 Ultralight Review: An Affordable Carry 2011 from Israel

- I'll admit that I am skeptical about imported 2011 style pistols, especially ones that cost less than a mildly customized Glock... but after spending some time with the Bul Armory SAS II UL from Israel, I've been made a believer. However, like with all "less expensive" 1911's and 2011's there are some trade-offs that you should be aware of. Overall, I love this "little" gun and it has made its way into my carry rotation.
Disclaimers:
1. I work for other 1911 manufacturers but honestly, I think "all guns matter" so I'm pretty stoked on everyone's stuff. Never gonna throw shade on other brands because the market does the talking, if a gun sells well... there is a reason for that.
2. Super average shooter... no MIL or LEO experience so no tactical tips... just gun stuff
3. I bought this gun, so when I give an opinion it's based on my perception of value since I paid for it. - กีฬา

FYI: as a Bul SAS II ULTRALIGHT 3.25 owner, my gun came with a discount card for a Priority 1 holster which I received within days of ordering and half the price compared to the Tier 1 holster that I ordered a month ago but not yet received. No voodoo... BUL uses the Para pattern mags (or atleast used to), they are a little thicker with a different taper up top. They don't feed as well, but they hold an extra round or two.
Hey nice video. I just got a BUL SAS2 UL and am finding it difficult to get a holster. In the video you said you were getting a custom made one. Who are you getting to make the custom holster?
It was someone referred to me on IG... however they (like so many people in the gun world) are crap at responding to messages so I went and bought a Tenicor ... will have it this week
Is the gun comparable with other optics? I’ve scoured the internet but nobody has mentioned the mounting system…Can someone let me know I love the gun but it might be a dealbreaker. Thanks!

Does anyone know what the weight is fully loaded. On their website I noticed that you have the option of a 10 round mag and a 16 rounds. Is there a difference in fit with the bottom of the grip. What is the reason they offer two capacities? Carry weight I’m assuming.

I had them install a flat face trigger, and it’s amazing! I don’t feel any creep at all. Just throwing that out there.
Yeah i only felt it in half of the guns I handled (6 total) and like I said it wasn’t horrible....

Timothy Gilbert did you have them install it or had it installed somewhere else? Just wondering if it could be dropped in or if the grip has to be modified. The old Gen 1 STI grips you had to make the channel a bit bigger for their trigger like the one Bul Armory sells to fit in place of the stock polymer.
@@hallinanhart they did it for me. When I ordered it, I specified everything including the flat face trigger. When I got it, all I did was clean and lube, then went to range.

2011’s typically use a 1911 barrel but this one is chopped down to 3.25” and has a very short stroke... it’s probably not gonna work for that
Just came across your channel.. This weapon is interesting. I am new to guns, and have been going back and forth as to whether to purchase one. That being said, is this model a S/A or a S/DA weapon. Should I pull the trigger, I would be looking at a S/A D/A model. Thanks. Keep up the good videos

Just saw the rest of the comment... I haven’t shot the C2 but had a P for a minute.... I’d say for an EDC gun I really like the SAS II over the staccato for the weight savings, money savings and +3 capacity. For Duty, I would go more to Staccato just because it feels more robust. Honestly though, I sold my Staccato and carry this.... to get a C2 duo with RMR would be $1300+ more.... so for EDC the Bul armory wins for me
DEFCON creative I am kinda leaning towards the little bull comped gun of theirs. That said, it scares me you can’t buy mags for these guns yet. I also don’t know if they will make another plate for the 507k or rmrcc. Thanks for the feedback

I got the 5” and and use it for all my 2011’s, but if you are only using it for the Baby bul the 3.9” should work

Ordered a Bul SASll Viper stainless steel and Iconic Armory ordered extra mags for me. Too bad it's going to take 4 months. From what I hear it's worth the wait.
Getting the stainless is probably a good move as far as corrosion prevention is concerned... you can always have it cerakoted it you want it black

MIE holsters has 2011 holsters with light options. QVO also
I’ll have to check them out... I’ve had some that are made for a tri top slide and don’t fit Staccatos and others with a radius top. 1911/2011 holsters can be infuriating

I used an las concealment but recently found Tenicor to be a better fit for AIWB

BUYERS BEWARE!!! If you live in a restricted state with magazine capacity issues, Colorado is 15 limit. Bul Armory will send you a 10 magazine round vice stock 16, no in between which isn’t listed on their site. I don’t know too many folks who buy a double stacked 1911 gun with a magazine capacity of 10 for $1500, there’s too many options at single stack on same platform for 50%+ monies saved. No compensation offered either, they stated to purchase mags at neighboring states on my dime, lol!
It says right on the website that they ship 10 round magazines to magazine capacity restricted states. Like mine. So I knew I would be receiving 2 ten round magazines. I didn't expect anything less.

The customer service at Bul armory is non existent. I purchased a sas 2 ul, and immediately ran into problems with the sights of the gun falling off after a few shots. The customer service is useless.
Biggest problem... no one stocks this... I have to order it directly from the manufacturer. Get some distributors in the U.S.

I can get a 226 or 229 w/optic cut for $1000 puts $300 in all premium nickel boron nitride coated part an aimpoint acro and still buy a few extra "expensive" SIG mags. Still have $ left over to give GOA to fight for the 2A. So affordable? Nope! Not even close

All of these guns from Bul Armory are super nice but overpriced as a tool. Far better values at half the price... actually on third of the price. Yes I want one or many of them but I'm too cheap or practical to pay that price.
Name a 2011 at 1/3 the price and I’ll buy all of them....
I've really wanted to get my hands on a RIA Tac Ultra but they are realllly hard to find! And as a note... comparable Bul 2011's are 1350 so its about 3/5's the price. and not really in the 2011 category which is blurry as it is. Its more like a caspian HiCap

@@defconcreative Errant spelling aside , I’d practice dropping the slide release with your support hand thumb on 1911/2011’s rather than going over the top - Bul slides are very smooth - they just glide into battery
