  • This isn't a review of the Springfield Armory M1a (m14), it's a love letter. If you have been thinking about getting an M1a, I'm here to push you over the edge. Go get one.

I own 4 M1A's from two National Match rifles, a Scout Squad and a SOCOM 16......Great firearms!

    Love the M1A.
Possibly my all-time favorite rifle. FWIW, I spent the majority of my youth at Ben Avery's One Thousand Yard Range behind the _entire_ family of M1 rifles.
For some odd reason, I always gravitated back to the M1A despite having a plethora of other options at my disposal. First time I participated in a Shoot House was with my M1A Scout. It was also the last time. I had a migraine for _days._ Oh the arrogance of youth but I digress.
Anyone who claims that the M1A is not an accurate rifle is full of themselves. The Camp Perry Matches have proven beyond a reasonable doubt that the M1A platform is far more accurate than the average shooter. People just love to make excuses for their lack of knowledge.

Great bush-walk rifle too. You can put anything down that's commin' for ya with authority. Shoots like a dream while at it. Excellent 👍

I tuned my m1a standard to a n/m and I put on a scout mount and scout scope on my 22" barrel and it is very accurate. I'm shooting just under 2 moa at 200y. It is a really great rifle! 6.5 barrel life sucks.

I bought a scout about 6 yrs ago and a week later broke my back. Had to sell it to make ends meet. Never got to shoot it. Always bugged me. Was in a pawn shop about 2wks ago a found a 22". Paid $600 for it. Got it home and ran #s. Turned out its a loaded. Probably the best deal Ive made. Took it to the range this weekend and was holding 1" at 100yds. New favorite rifle

100 % , the only way to go " m1a 308 " !! I had a loaded version and later went to the scout squad and really enjoy this model. I replaced the muzzle break with an old style flash hider, much more quieter in my opinion. Thanks for the video !!

Great video. Really like your studio, excellent light control. You obviously know a few things about cinematography. Also nice to find someone who knows how to pronounce "homage." The M1A has its faults but is still something special. One of the softest shooting 7.62 platforms out there. Cheers. ps. You boogered-up a perfectly good stock, mate. :)

There's a lot to experiment with the M1A system, but none of us have govt money, and the govt doesn't have our patience. Smith Enterprise proved that the system can be as good as AR-10s, but govt be governing.

Having had a m1A in both the loaded and socom16 with archangel stock I loved both but the socom is a super handy HOG smasher and 1/2 moa able if you know what ur doin and good. It way out does my AR-10

huh. M1A more accurate than an M1 Garand. NOT more accurate than an AR platform, which explains why everyone (almost) shoots a competition AR in National Matches. I shot a NM M1A competitively for 2 years before I moved to an AR15. Gas plug has a tendency to loosen up, and makes it very INaccurate when it does. Very difficult to use an optic in proper position. Wood stocks have a tendency to swell and causes the rifle to become more inaccurate. no really good way to attach a Pic rail, and that makes a bipod difficult. Read the history of the M1A/M14 (the U.S. Army should have chosen the FAL instead). There are a number of valid reasons why the M14 was the issued Service Rifle for only 7 years...

the m14 stayed in service well after the year 2000 just not as a main battle rifle but a drm rifle. synthetic stocks don't swell like wood and they make all kinds of different chassis and stocks with rails that work just fine
