I would probably modify this method a tad. I'd leave the bills money in the bank since everything is on auto pay and only take out the cash for variable expenses for shopping categories such as groceries.
Remember, she said to wait on that binder until you have a months worth of bills saved, then switch all your bills to come out of bank account on the first of the month. Then you aren’t making a bunch of trips to the bank. Just to withdraw to get the cash, and then a trip to deposit the bills cash before the 1st
You are the first Etsy Shop owner who is so transparent as to tell newbies the cheapest way to start may not be immediately buying from your shop😁😁. I also liked the way you explain the beginning of going cash budget is not as smooth as it looks if you only watch people who have been doing a cash budget for awhile. I'm still working on transitioning. My Kryptonite is grocery shopping and cooking for one vs Spending more on delivery for one freaking meal (and of course using my debit card). You provided the perfect solution - that money can go to sinking funds or challenges.
I'm also on ss but ssd which is the same basically I paycheck a month. I wrote a message asking how this would work with someone on ssd and getting paid once a month. Let me know how you do and maybe some tips. Thank you have a great day.
I started cash budgeting on September 24. I started with saving challenges. Now I am totally cash budgeting. Bills, variable expenses and challenges. I even switched my bank to one that is within walking distance. It does not bother me if I have to go and deposit money everyday…double bonus with getting exercise. Thank you Jordan you really have changed my families life with your videos.
@Lilly B we have 3 different banks we use....I'm here trying to figure out how to get around the loans and credit card payments...but only 1 of the 3 allows for deposits at the ATM. I wish they all did because I'm tired of wasting my lunches in bank lines.
@@angelbabe1977 this is old but see if any of your banks have night deposit boxes, you can just put your deposits in an envelope outside of bank hours and they process them all in the morning :)
@99flutter I think all 3 do. Lol. I still ain't started the cash thing. And fell off the budget train and just jumped back on within the last couple weeks.
I’m 15 currently seeing my parents struggle and I really want to learn to save money and know how to control how much is going where so that when things come up I don’t end up Poor but this is all very confusing 😂 I do feel very overwhelmed but I know it’ll come in handy when I’m a bit older or when I start working bc as soon as I get my first paycheck Im going to start saving and only take out a little bit of that money so I have money for myself to enjoy. Question am I too young?? Should I not worry about this rn at this age??
My 15yo grandson puts 50-60% of every penny he gets into savings. He has no expenses right now. He does help cover gas when he goes to see friends or work.
I have been watching budget video for a long time. I wish people were as helpful and transparent as you girl. Thank you for showing empathy to those who are just starting out and can't afford the pricey stuff yet. You are amazing and God will bless you for being so honest.
Your video makes the most sense, of any; of this type; I've seen. When this type of budgeting first came to my attention, it didn't make sense to me. Then I began to think that money in the bank doesn't seem real; much like the available balance on a credit card. You don't see it, you don't touch it, you don't have to pull it out of your wallet, to spend it. Therefore, it doesn't exist in a real world way. I remember when people cashed their paycheck and drove around and paid their bills, and people weren't in debt like they are now.
Dollar tree has a Jot 6 pocket expandable file folder. Also there is a 3 pack of mini composition book for writing expenses. I help the recently homeless start budgeting with them. Most only need 4 categories.
Wonderful idea💜. I waived between cashless an d cash. For me cash works so much better. It's immedate. I found depending when debits actually post you will be thrown off course as most people don't pay attention to pending transactions. Bank's know this reason many go into overddraft. I worked at a bank and know first hand.
Hello I am a newbie cash stuffing. I appreciate your transparency on the binders considering you are a business owner. Although it is cheaper on Amazon due to appreciation to you I’m buying everything directly from your Etsy shop! ❤️
Thank you so much for not just plugging your Etsy shop but being honest about the best prices. This video answers so many questions I have while trying to start that I feel many budget videos don’t address.
I would LOVE to see a video about how to start savings challenges! I’m new to cash stuffing and sinking funds and saving in this way so I would definitely appreciate the help learning more about it
For now, I'm starting with savings challenges and a "general" savings sinking fund until I decide what important things we need to save for. Thank you for this breakdown! 💙
Love this Jordan! I started very basic. I actually bought The Budget Mom printables and put them in a 3-ring binder. I used plain envelopes and pinched my pennies. I did start using an Erin Condrin with Sara Marie stickers a few months later to reward myself. Then I started making my own printables to save money. I only got my binders recently after budgeting for over a year! Great break down!
I never thought of doing this and when I looked it up there was so much to discover I got overwhelmed but thanks to you I am not overwhelmed anymore and it gives me motivation to do this on my own. Thank you so much! ❤
Loved this Jordan!! Sharing the basics is so great! I honestly started with just one standard envelope for my groceries and that was it. Lol. I was so overwhelmed of thinking of all the categories. But then it got easier as I went on.
Thank You for being honest and looking out for us. I thought I was doing ok on my spending and got a big shocker today…. Writing down everything first is a great idea. Thank You Again!!! I will start this today to train myself again. 😊

You are so super sweet and encouraging! Thank you for even recommending that we start off with Amazon and Walmart, instead of slinging your Etsy and being self-promotional like other folks. This was so helpful. Thanks so much - I’m excited to begin my cash envelope journey now, Jordan 😃

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Getting started is the hardest part and determining what envelopes are needed and where they go. And I love the chatty videos! It helps so much to see others and their systems. Hugs 🤗
Hope you don't get mad at this. But for the ones that can't afford the binders yet. Walmart sells mini 3 ring binders from 4-5 dollars. You can use regular white envelopes in it until you can upgrade. :)
You are refreshing. I really appreciate that you are not pushing your products like crazy. Which in return makes me want to buy from you because of how upfront and sweet you are. Thank you for the transparency!
My first time seeing your channel, and I watched this entire video! I love that you were so helpful, honest, and upfront telling beginners to purchase from Amazon because it was the cheapest way to start doing this even though you have a shop and sell the same items! What a breath of fresh air to find someone with such a wonderful spirit! I hope you are blessed because of your amazingly selfless attitude! 👏🏾👏🏾 🤗🤗

That’s a lot of binders to get and I don’t think I would want to take all my bill money out of the bank just to put in a binder, I pay my bills with my bank account/debit cards so it needs to stay in there!

To be honest I went and ordered a binder mid video and didn’t see your recommendation to buy from Amazon and that was so refreshing that I was happier I did buy it from you!!! But that was so nice of you!
Question: How do you know what kind of bills to ask for when you're at the bank? How many $20s $10s $5s $1s. Also, again like I said I love your challenges. I love coloring. It's relaxing and destresses me. I bought a journal on amazon but I do like the separate journal idea too. Thank you so much! I have a bad spending problem. Like you said if I have money I will spend it on online Gambline (I blocked myself) Food delivery, or Amazon. This will help sooo much!
You should assess how much you pay for each category- maybe write, draft for a month- and then you can say if you need for example 50 dollars for food and then 50 for sth else then you know that you need 2 bills of 50 dollars...
This is the best money saving video I have ever come across on TH-cam! I took notes and watched it over and over to make sure I wrote it all down. I then just sat back and watched it for the heck of it! I hope you enjoyed my state of Tennessee while visiting here! Oh, I'm now a new subscriber 😊

I found you today. I love how helpful this is. I'm new-ish to this way of budgeting, and it can get overwhelming sometimes because I'm not sure about what sinking finds and savings challenges to do. Thank you for this!
Watching this 7 weeks after you made it and hearing about wanting 5k subscribers then seeing you already over 9k great job!!! shows you are making content people want.
Great tips about choosing savings that excite you. I have 2 binders and a handful of envelopes and I don't know what to use them all for. So thank you for this tip.
I just found you Jordan! I have been looking at several TH-cam videos regarding budgeting and I have been so super confused! I watch your video and it all makes sense. You explain very well, care about a person by suggesting start slow and not pushing your products! Kindness and genuine caring for sure! With that being said, I understand this process now! You have cleared up my confusion! I do have a lot of auto pay for our bills and we really do not carry much cash. I have ordered “fake money” as a starter splurge for me and will use that as our paydays come in and deduct our expenses accordingly! I am looking forward to going through our expenses, getting a more solid budget in place, savings and getting some supplies from you eventually! Take care and I look so forward to watching your other videos! Thank you Jordan for sharing your knowledge! ❤❤
I have been watching budgeting for a year now. You are the only one that made it easy for me to understand and know we’re to go if you just start budgeting and what items you only really need starting out. I went bought tons of binders becuase I thought I needed it. Loveee you tell us we’re to go to save money and talked about Amazon to get our stuff to first start out. New Sub!!! Wow, thank you so much ! This is the only video I found where it is explained in so much detail and I finally get it! I hope I can stick to this method.
You make a lot of sense, I've tried to help my husband with his bills, but he just doesn't listen to me or anyone. I'm gonna let him listen to your video and hopefully you can help him. Thank you ☺️
Thank you, Jesus that I found you because it's been so hard trying to search through so many budgeting videos. My goodness every video I would go into left me more confused I didn't even know how to begin. I am very happy that your video has explained everything to me from the very beginning steps I even wrote everything down just to have it as an Example page for me to look at and know what to do. I find it very, very humbling of you to even refer a link to Amazon so people can purchase what's affordable especially with inflation. I will be checking the link to Amazon and I will be checking up on your videos so you can teach me more. I receive my check monthly and I am very grateful for you. Amen
Hey Jordan! I am so glad I found you from Amanda's page. You're truly an honest and caring person. I just love that about you and thought you should know. I did not even think about buying the filing binder instead of an A6 binder, thank you!
This is really helpful to me. I just started the cash envelope system and it is super overwhelming at first. But I made it through my first week with a couple of bumps along the road.

@@kimmason8373 Im not sure how most people do it, but, I do automatic withdrawals for bills like auto/ renters insurance, cell phone, utilities, car payment. I have two credit cards. One I've paid off, and, the other is close to being paid off. This is all new to me so I'm still trying to figure out what works for me. In a short amount of time, I've made a lot of progress. I like you're using a realistic budget. Sometimes my income is about there sometimes a lot less but I watched one where she's working with thousands of dollars extra each month. I swear she spent my yearly income in 2-3 months
This is amazing! I’ve struggled with figuring out how to get started, but your videos have really helped. Thanks so much - from one single mom to another.
I enjoyed your ideas. I started my cash budgeting system with just envelopes with the category written on the envelope and I put the amount in/out on a 3 x 5 card. Your goodies are cute, though!
Very helpful for beginners - I’ve been wanting to start the cash envelope system but it has been challenging for me to figure out where to begin - this video provides a good foundation to build from
I did that 30+ years ago and graduated to a written yearly budget, then a yearly computer spreadsheet. I own a house outright and am now completely debt free.
I just found your video today love how you break it down for us. At the moment I'm not working because I'm taking care of my Dad. In January I started to save my cash. I have a goal of 2 years to save so I can go to Puerto Rico for my niece's quinceañera. One step at a time so I won't be overwhelmed.
Thank you for being so informative. You are one of the TH-camrs that gave me the courage to start my own Cash Stuffing channel to document my cash stuffing journey. I am jealous of your Amazon though. Australian Amazon is so expensive. For example, for my first binder and envelopes cost me $30 and it took 2 weeks to arrive.I
I have watched so many budgeting videos but never understood it fully. You explain so well. Thank you much! Especially i loved how you told about starting because i was already overwhelmed about binders.

amazing video! the part about the grocery budget was so relatable lmao. I gave myself way too little at first and it was awful but now I have more money to use and it's so motivating seeing the money left over and be able to save that way :)
Thank you for doing this. Definitely helping me break it down. Going to start in January. Would love a savings challenge video. Would help me Lot to figure out what I'm going to do or how I'm going to do it

I found you today. I love how helpful this is. I'm new-ish to this way of budgeting, and it can get overwhelming sometimes because I'm not sure about what sinking finds and savings challenges to do. Thank you for this!
Starting with 15 categories can be overwhelming. How about starting with just 5 categories?
@@DavidEVogel thank you for the suggestion!
Watching this 7 weeks after you made it and hearing about wanting 5k subscribers then seeing you already over 9k great job!!! shows you are making content people want.
😮 she’s now over 42k in 2024!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Great tips about choosing savings that excite you. I have 2 binders and a handful of envelopes and I don't know what to use them all for. So thank you for this tip.
You are the reason I stayed with my budget I love how you keep it real
I just purchased your cash envelope 12 monthly and 24 savings challenges trackers. I'm beyond impressed. Thank you for doing your thang!!
Thank YOU Corretta!! ❤️❤️❤️
So happy I came across this video. I’m going to start doing this but with Monopoly money because I’m the type to lose everything all the time.
Thank you for this video. It is by far the best one I have watched for people starting out.
Thank you!!!! Thank you!!! Being new to cash budgeting it’s hard to know we’re to start. But your video was so helpful!!
New Sub!!! Will loveee a sinking fund Challenge video Soo People can start it now or For the new year 😀😀
I know this video is a year old but when you said “ if it was me and I was just starting, I would find $13 for a binder off Amazon…” GIRL ME TOO 😂😂😂💀💀💀😅 love how real you keep it haha
I love how you explain things! I’ve tried and tried and sometimes I stick to it and then I fall off. If you stick to it, it does work.
Amen
I love how understanding you are and how thoughtful you are to our pockets it means a lot as a new subscriber 🥺💕
Thanks for clearing up the different catergories and how to get started
Going back to the beginning! Starting my journey again in January!
I subscribed because you were honest about saving with Amazon on the one binder. I love honest people. It's refreshing.😃
Yes I would love to see you talk about savings challenges. Thank you.
This is the best explanation I have ever gotten 🙌🙌 you broke things down so simply, but thoroughly 🤗 it makes it so much easier for a newbie to begin! I've watched other videos and left feeling more confused and overwhelmed. Thank you 💝
But how do you actually pay bills like cellphone or other bills that aren't able to send cash?
@@kimmason8373 Im not sure how most people do it, but, I do automatic withdrawals for bills like auto/ renters insurance, cell phone, utilities, car payment. I have two credit cards. One I've paid off, and, the other is close to being paid off. This is all new to me so I'm still trying to figure out what works for me. In a short amount of time, I've made a lot of progress. I've always been an overspender and have never budgeted. Every week, month I was trying to figure out where my money went
But she doesn't say how you get to the amounts you need to put away!!
Yay! One of the first budget channels I’ve found that is 1 month ahead and pays all their bills on the 1st! New subscriber 😊
When I first was on my own say about 25 years ago this was how I did things. I found it super easy and I liked to have it available for me to look at everything when ever I needed!😊
I love the coloring in images. Especially the Christmas trees. Very clever!
Thank you so much! 💗
You’re handwriting is so pretty!!! I’m just learning about this system so I’m doing my research to try to implement this. This was super helpful and informative! I love the chatter too 🥰
I like you're using a realistic budget. Sometimes my income is about there sometimes a lot less but I watched one where she's working with thousands of dollars extra each month. I swear she spent my yearly income in 2-3 months
Thanks Jordan! Starting is always the hardest part
Yes ~ You are so right!
Your video has so much clarity. I really want to start this and you really broke it down.
Very helpful for beginners - I’ve been wanting to start the cash envelope system but it has been challenging for me to figure out where to begin - this video provides a good foundation to build from
I’m moving in 2 months to a different state and I can’t wait to do this! Thank you so much, subscribed to you!!!
Thank you for thos video. It helps me break down on what I need to do to start. Right now all I'm using is a jar and a zip lock bag.
I did that 30+ years ago and graduated to a written yearly budget, then a yearly computer spreadsheet. I own a house outright and am now completely debt free.
That is so amazing and so inspiring, thank you for sharing Karla! ❤️❤️❤️
I just found your video today love how you break it down for us. At the moment I'm not working because I'm taking care of my Dad. In January I started to save my cash. I have a goal of 2 years to save so I can go to Puerto Rico for my niece's quinceañera. One step at a time so I won't be overwhelmed.
I've been looking for someone from sooo long to actually spell it out! TY!!!!!
Thank you for showing me. I'm a single Mother of 8 with 2 sets of twins, 3 in college. I been trying to budget and still provide . I will try this
Thank you for being so informative.
I follow a couple cash stuffing envelop channels, but hands down yours is the best. I already started and done my research but I like to watch others for more inspiration. Your channel is amazing. I hope you continue making more videos. Thank you for sharing your ways!!
Wow, thank you Melanie, that is such a huge compliment, I appreciate you!! 💗💗💗
amazing video! the part about the grocery budget was so relatable lmao. I gave myself way too little at first and it was awful but now I have more money to use and it's so motivating seeing the money left over and be able to save that way :)
Thank you for doing this. Definitely helping me break it down. Going to start in January.
Would love a savings challenge video. Would help me Lot to figure out what I'm going to do or how I'm going to do it
You sound like a teacher so I'm here taking notes 📝
Oh my goodness your video,, this video is like the best EVER!! I am just looking into doing this, my bank is driving me nuts-so I’m looking for ways to get a hold of money/finance. You are so right… thank you, thank you.
Your explanations about challenges and sinking funds was so very helpful! I now understand why some of my sinking funds attempts failed while other succeeded.
Thank you for sharing. I just started back with cash and starting on some challenges. Excited to see my savings grow. 😊
I came across your page and I am so grateful I clicked. I just ordered a personalized binder for my needs, wants, travel shopping, savings challenges, and holiday/birthday shopping. I thought that was a good start, considering I have been using spreadsheets to keep track for a year now. CHEERS TO NEW YEAR NEW WAYS OF SAVING!
I loveeeee the coloring pages! Now that I would get excited about lol
Yes I'm starting my cash stuffing envelope system this next week .. Have my bills binder and variable expenses binder .. Would love a video on Saving challenges for some ideas .. Big savings challenges and small ones
I’m a new viewer and a beginner at budgeting but this does help especially for us beginners that never really learned how to budget. Thank you for sharing the video. ❤️
Thank you. I needed this video. It was raw and honest. You are a gem. Keep up the great work.
Thank you for the start out tips I have been doing this since 2019 and I'm still working on bills and sinking funds which has been working for me every year I add a new envelope so far I have six sinking funds envelopes and five expense envelopes I don't do zero based budget I do find it fun to see exactly where my money goes my goal this year is to stay focused and have fun doing it. God bless you and your family.
Don't know if you follow the current trend on the crypto market lately
I just purchased the pink binder book with the hearts from your site been searching all day and came across this video!!! Can’t wait to receive it 🥰
Thank you for explaining all of it you made it super simple to understand I am just starting out with this whole thing
I’m a single mom trying to get back on my feet . This is very helpful I was getting very overwhelmed trying to figure out how to budget for my daughter and I .
I've officially started the cash budgetn system.
This video has been extremely helpful over the past few weeks!
Thank you!
I love the tangibility of this method.
You got this! I'm with you, I think it being so tangible and in our face really helps make it work! ❤
I recently found a a7 size planner wallet. This honestly gives me hope that I can use it to the full advantage!
Thank you for explaining. This is very helpful. I get overwhelmed trying to figure out what sinking funds to do.
I get overwhelmed trying to figure out what sinking funds to do.
What spending causes you the most grief? Medical expenses? Vehicle maintenance? There you go.
Yes would love to see a video on different challenges ❤
