@@3DPrintscape Yes, thanks for asking! I've struggled two days alone with the CR-Touch, then Marlin decided that my power loss feature needs to randomly trigger so I've deactivated that and now everything is working as intended on my Ender Max, thanks to your video about compiling custom firmware for the SKR Mini E3.
The step by step guide aswell as the way you explain things helped me to understand the process and made it seem doable even for someone with no experince in programming/VS-Code.
      Thank you so much!

Thanks man, I actually had to go way back to installing VS code to understand how to make this work. You're the first that's explained the install. Since I'm using the board on an anet, it's challenging for me. *pronterface* It reads that the endstops are triggered when open and visa versa. So I have to do some modifications to that, reverse the motor directions, and other stuff. I'll make another post if I'm successful.

I had issues with their FW and the CR Touch. I tried each since I didn't know about the V2 diagrams. But with one, it would slam into the bed with z-homing, with the other it would have some "endstops z" error when bed leveling.
I ended up using the new Marlin firmware and compiling so now I just have my CR Touch plugged into the Z-Probe port (un modified, all 5 wires) and my Z-stop unplugged so there is nothing in the "ZSTOP" port, and added the jumper, and it works great! It will home with the CR Touch with no issues.

Hi Rob, awesome video, it was a great help! I have a question though; when I installed the firmware from the download like your video mentioned I still needed to have the Z limit switch connected, I assume that is the firmware I grabbed. But when I then tried the version that said something about Z homing ( which is what I was hoping to do... ) using the CR Touch instead of the Z limit switch it tried to home but wouldn't do Z and just came up with a message that said it STOPPED... I assume I am not doing something right or have a setting wrong?
I plugged the CR Touch into the port on the SKR mini board and unplugged the Z limit switch.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    • @3DPrintscape
      @3DPrintscape  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hi, The standard bltouch firmware is the most common on, it expects the z stop and abl to be connected. If you want to only use the abl you would use the z hoking build but it requires the two prob triggers cables to be connected to the z stop port and the other 3 wires to be connected to the bltouch servo ports.

Hi there, thanks for your video. I purchased both the V3 board and the touchscreen some time ago but had terrible trouble with the printer alarming out constantly. As a result I through in the towel and went back to the creality board 4.2.7. I am still wanting to get this going, I guess I will just have to persist and try again. Ender 3 V2 with BLT.

hey Rob. I don't know how to reach out to you other than here. I been watching your videos for awhile now and you are the reason I got into this hobby. I actually bought my printer from Amazon from a link from your website
ender 3. (not pro just the regular ender 3)
I did go on and get a cr touch and a creality direct drive. well I kept it mostly stock for a few months and it worked flawlessly. I did add a glass bed (per your post and a upgraded tube and extruder) never had any problems with prints or sticking to the bed.
now I followed you exact instructions on how to install my CR touch. it's been a month now with over 80 failed prints. and over 50 firmware installs. when I do it per your website and video the screen glitches, will never read a tf card and sometimes the steppers lock up. do I need to just throw this complete ender 3 in the trash? it's a 32bit 4.2.2 all I want to do is mostly print PLA can I go back to my original setup if so where can I get the correct files? this makes me just want to stop this hobby... if anyone can help PLEASE DO SO.. I was able to install a ender 3 pro firmware and got one print to work out of 26 trys then I had to glue, and tape it down and watch the print (45 mins) the only way I can even get a print to start is via cable and then cura starts to crash and then if the first layer sticks when it get to 6 or 7 the print jumps off then it's a mess... thanks for your time.. carlton997@gmail.com

update..I think I found my issue
please anyone chime in and correct me if I done or doing something wrong..me being very new to this great and fun hobby I want to learn all I can.. I was able to go to the creality website and went to the actual printer firmware section and they have a file stating says.use this if your board has a "GD " on it
I pretty much threw caution to the wind and tried it.. the glitch is gone I also found out that after I set my Z off set and store the settings are being saved to my tf card that 8 use for flashing only.. so after I noticed that I re-ran all my settings and saved correctly and I was able to find my Z offset was not saving and was printing at -01.90mm way off.
now when I run bed level it runs slam off the build plate..I will update as I go and maybe my info may help one person in the future. thanks for all you do and great videos

Awesome video, just got my Ender 3 V2 and installed the SKR MINI E3 on it. Sadly, the firmware they provide which is 3 months old causes my board to go into a beeping frenzy and never boots up.
What I did notice is that at first the boot sequence would cause the CR Touch to remain constantly on Red while the second time I installed it, it remained Red for a second and then went back to booting up normally. Sadly, I couldn't get the firmware to work at all, screen would light up and the logo of Creality would show up but then nothing and it would freeze itself there beeping like crazy (The start status led would boot loop constantly).
Any ideas? Not too knowledgeable in regards to 3D Printers since it's my first one.

Even though it doesn't boot when updating the firmware, it's not doing the beeping as the prebuilt firmware was doing. I guess i'll have to wait for your video on how to build marlin for this board.

I have watched your video and many others several times and tried a lot of things but it is still not updating. Ender 3 pro using skr e3 v3 with bltouch. Using either an 8gb sd or a 128mb sd. Formatted at Fat and Fat32. Using firmware from bttgithub, skr e3 v3, ender3-bltouch.bin. Placed in root folder of sd and moved to printer. I have tried changing the name in all format configurations. Firmware.bin Firmways123.bin. The only thing that does anything is if I rename it FIRMWARE omitting .bin as its already a .bin file. The printer will boot, pause for 2 seconds and then nothing is different with the printer. It will change the file on the SD names FIRMWARE to a .Cursor file.
What would you suggest since its not working as easily as I would have hoped
Update - formatted 128 mb card to Fat16 - used file firmware BigTreeTech SKR Mini E3 3.0 BL Touch.bin - renamed to FIRMWARE omitting .bin - Blue screened printer. It did change the file to a .cursor file on sd. Tried reloading firmware from firmware-ender3-bltouch.bin - blue screened. Requested replacement board as this one seems to be defective.

Hi. It sounds like you have known file extensions disabled (which is default) so adding .bin resulted in the firmware being firmware.bin.bin, which wont work. I blue-screened my Ender 3 last night installing a BTT SKR mini e3v3.
I turned it on after installing it initially and it worked, the cooling fan kicked on at 60 degrees and I could access the menu.
I went to install the v3.1 firmware with no bltouch, and it bluescreened.
I've tried to reflash the firmware with the 3.0 firmware but nothing has worked. I first thought that I bluescreened it because I named the file "firmware.bin" as your video says that could happen on my printer.
It seems like the firmware was uploaded though as the file name changed to all caps afterwards.
Is there any way to remedy this without hooking up a computer?
