How about deadzones? Like there some software for that. Or you can use the PPSSPP controller setting to test the left analog stick. Or most Smash games walking to running are based on how far you push the analog stick.
Yo ETA Prime, if you still read comments on this video I removed the yellow circle under the analog sticks on my ipega 9167, through a little disassembly. Now the deadzone is much more tolerable, and its able to reach corners effectively, and the analog feels less janky as well.
I have had this for a few weeks now and got to say it's one of the best controllers I got for android, plus its usb c charging which is good to see. Got for £20 on amazon uk and is still on there for £20 at the moment.

Something I'm not seeing anyone mention is that the analog sticks only have 8 directions to them, so they only have the same precision as the d-pad. It won't matter for a lot of retro games but it's pretty noticeable on games that allow more precision with a ps4/xbox controller.

I think it's because it is advertised to work on iOS devices. I can't find any listings that don't say iOS on them. There are always ways to make it work, there is a paid jailbreak tweak that lets you do it.
hooboy, the color on that thing! I'm glad these types of controllers and their ilk exist and that you cover them, but I think in the end getting a stand of some type and using a 'more normal' controller still feels better, from my experience.
I'd be curious to know the lag on this thing. It looked fine on the video, though I'm still a little skeptical. I have a Red Magic 3S and pairing it with a Dualshock 4 over bluetooth has about a 2 second delay on button presses. Wiring it to a USB hub and then to the RM3S solves this issue. I'm not a huge fan of the XBOne controller so I've steered clear of using that. I've been waiting to see if they would ever come out with a telescopic controller that has a USB-C connection straight into the phone, but I haven't seen anything like that. If this IPEGA 9167 does the trick on a RM3S, I'll probably grab one.
tbh the DS4 has massive input lag on Android. It's the controller's fault more than anything. I don't know about this one, but I have the FlyDigi Wee 2 and it has 0 lag other than Android's own input lag, which you can shove off with RetroArch and runahead.
ONLY with an separated Dpad you can play fighting games as you should. Don't use analog sticks to do circles etc Just use the separated Dpad. Down+forward in Street Fighter can never be easier.

The only problem I've found with the ipega series controllers (I have a 9023) is that custom keymapping apps are rubbish. It was recommended that the V3 shooting plus app on Google Play be used with it, but I've found that the save/bind function is sometimes very sketchy and won't bind custom keymap to the device/app very well, I've looked at just about every other app available and they're also woefully inadequate. I have had, on occasion, to uninstall it and forget the device, re-install the app and re-remember the pad in my BT devices. I'm also not a fan of the offset stick configuration you find in some pad peripherals, ie left high and right low. It makes the pad feel unbalanced imo and doesn't make the whole gaming experience feel easy to use or very natural in the hand.
I've had this for a month. Large handed people beware. Long game sessions will lead to hand fatigue. Stk7007 have the extra wings on the bottom of the handles for better finger placement and grip. I agree with everything else Prime said though.
I had one of that in the past, it absolutely gets the job done (I finished Hotline miami 1 and 2 in my phone with it), but the analog tends to drift, and the shoulder buttons to be less sensitive. I'd recommend something above that, for a small phone, maybe an Ipega 9021
for a big device such as a 10 inch tablet, I would rather like to see a clamp controller mount that puts the controller below the tablet in the middle. It's just not that comfortable holding a controller that much apart.

I've been using my bebencool sth 7007f1 with project Xcloud and GeForce Now. I use it with Fortnite as well. There was an issue at first, I couldn't move forward but I changed the sensitivity and it works fine. I have been interested in the controller in the video though.

Please could you tell me the main advantages the ipega 9167 has over the 9083 so that I can make a decision. Many thanks. Just discovered that the 9167 is just too small for the iPad so I ordered the 9083S from Aliexpress. An update. I decided to also try the 9167 with my 9th. generation iPad as Aliexpress had it on sale for less than $20 delivered to USA. It is a tight fit but it works as long as the iPad cover is removed. There is a very slight bowing of the controllers back plate so I inserted a piece of felt padding - $Tree sell packs of different sizes - to keep it parallel with the iPad. So far I am very pleased with the outcome. I play a lot of 'Platform' games and the 9167 is in my opinion better than the 9083S for this type of game. By the way there is a software update for the 9167.

@@ivn-pL To be honest I haven't tried COD. Playing GTA and Morrowind with decreased sensitivity in game settings. Finished GTA 3, Vice City and doing San Andreas right now, joystick is awesome for this kind of games. But there is one big cone, sticks are very sensitive, if you move the stick just a little big it goes on full speed and movement of the sticks is very small. I think I would recommend Xbox gamepad for the COD. Or if you can decrease sensitivity in COD setting, it can work.

It does say that the analog sticks are tested for rotations and presses so that indicates they are also buttons.. Anyways.. I tried.. hopefully someone that has one can confirm.
I've heard the pad + touch function doesn't work quite well. In most phones, once you hit the screen, the pad will stop working until you hit a button twice... I'm going to buy it anyway since I don't intend to use the pad+touch function anyway.

I mean I use ipega 9083s for xcloud and steam link both work great The fat one he shows at the start. Any input controller should work as long as it has the buttons I think
Yeah, i do have the fat ipega, it does work, but i wanted to know which tablets were compatible with xCloud, & i can't seem to be able to play any games from Gforce now app, which i signed into and have the games listed. Really baffling to say the least? The fire tab 10.1 (2017) does run it, but i just can't seem to run any games?
Any options for a tab S7+ ? I was hoping there'd be a controller wide enough to fit but if this is 250mm, definitely won't be enough. I was looking forward to some emulation lap gaming with the s7+ but there are no controllers that can fit it, I might have to consider the s7.
Hows the thumb stick quality? I just got original ASUS gamepad for my ROG II and the thumb sticks sucks, they small and not comfortable, also to connect the gamepad you have to do a whole process, remove the phone case, slide the phone into the gamepad case, and then back when you done.
I heard people say that doesn't work properly in cod mobile in single handed mod apparently when you walk and touch the screen for aim your character stop running like you can't control with the gampad and the touch screen at the same time !! Some one already experience that issue ? Because this controller it's great but if i can't play codm in single handed it's a deal breaker for me !
I bought 9167 but it doesn't fit my Fire HD 10 on landscape mode. I love it all the same, though. The headphone adapter is awesome! Should be standard.

So, I bought this device after your video as well as the new Telcast tablet you also recommended in one of your other videos. Now I'm stuck with something completely useless and unusable due to lack of support for the app that the ipega itself recommends using to set up the controller. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for the video. I don't like the arrangement of the right analogue stick at the ipega. You have to constantly reach around to switch between the buttons and the analogue stick with your thumb. It would be better if the stick was below, or even better diagonally next to the buttons. As is usual with Playstation and X-Box controllers. In its current form it just feels unwieldy. I hope Ipega or other manufacturers will rethink the design and create a new telescopic controller. Unfortunately there is nothing else on the market. The design of the Gamevice controllers for Ipad is actually okay, but they don't have R3/L3 and they are not available for android tablets. So that's a nogo too.
@@ECHF96 I haven't noticed any lag. I use it on a galaxy a6, playing ePSXe and the Grand Theft Auto series for android. I'm planning on getting a decent sized tablet, so this controller seemed good for the price, and works perfectly for my needs.

I've got the Ipega-9063 that I bought on aliexpress for $16 on singles' day, and it works very well. However, it's rather large. I've got big hands, and I even find it hard to reach the shoulder buttons.
@@kkusangi9721 not bad, can't complain. The main inconvenience I found is that in Windows 10, the button layout when connected via bluetooth is not the default one for xbox controllers, and some games do not allow to remap them.

My question: How do the analog sticks compare to the 9023/83? I've used both, and both have giant dead zones on the analog sticks. Have they fixed that with the 9167?
For the price they are good but not like a ps4 or Xbox controller. Can't say if they are better then 9023/83 never tried them but probably a bit better on the dead zones. You have to remember that the controller is 1/3 of the price of a PS4 controller. If you want a better controller you can try The Glap or wait for the Razor Kishi but they have a much higher price.
I got mine today, sadly I misread the config of my tablet because this is up to 250 mm... but my tablet is 266. I have no idea what to do with it besides playing DS games

Yeah but that gets harder sometimes if they’re big when doing things like Shoryuken (a Z shaped motion)

It won't fit the HD 10 in landscape. Only fit in Portrait. Does it match and play well with HD 10 2019?

Thanks for the review ETA. Almost bought on of these last week but didn't pull the trigger due to lack of reviews and hands on footage. I'll definitely be picking one up soon! Looks perfect... minus the dpad & digital L2 & R2. Still seems to be best available for larger phones. Does it feel solid with the headphone adapter attached?
@MrShawnTRods very good question. Havent been spending lately so i didn't get one of these yet. Also didn't see it covered under specs or questions on amazon. It does say that the analog sticks are tested for rotations and presses so that indicates they are also buttons.. Anyways.. I tried.. hopefully someone that has one can confirm.

I've heard the pad + touch function doesn't work quite well.
In most phones, once you hit the screen, the pad will stop working until you hit a button twice...
I'm going to buy it anyway since I don't intend to use the pad+touch function anyway.
This is exactly what I was looking for Yes Yes yes yes yes!!!!!!!!!!!!... Now can it run PS1 games PS2 games like Oddworld Abe's Exodus... and so on ...? It's looks promising but I've never seen anyone ever mention it sadly yet but I'm going to have to go get this set up for sure thanks to this video

Yeah, i do have the fat ipega, it does work, but i wanted to know which tablets were compatible with xCloud, & i can't seem to be able to play any games from Gforce now app, which i signed into and have the games listed. Really baffling to say the least? The fire tab 10.1 (2017) does run it, but i just can't seem to run any games?

Any options for a tab S7+ ? I was hoping there'd be a controller wide enough to fit but if this is 250mm, definitely won't be enough. I was looking forward to some emulation lap gaming with the s7+ but there are no controllers that can fit it, I might have to consider the s7.

Hows the thumb stick quality? I just got original ASUS gamepad for my ROG II and the thumb sticks sucks, they small and not comfortable, also to connect the gamepad you have to do a whole process, remove the phone case, slide the phone into the gamepad case, and then back when you done.
I heard people say that doesn't work properly in cod mobile in single handed mod apparently when you walk and touch the screen for aim your character stop running like you can't control with the gampad and the touch screen at the same time !! Some one already experience that issue ? Because this controller it's great but if i can't play codm in single handed it's a deal breaker for me !
You mentioned that this will fit the new Amazon FireHD 10. Bought it and it does not fit (tablet is too large)

I bought 9167 but it doesn't fit my Fire HD 10 on landscape mode. I love it all the same, though. The headphone adapter is awesome! Should be standard.

i just bought this one cus of the new poco x3 nfc its a big phone and my ipega 9087s is to small for this phone, I like that is type c and u have the option of half game pad half screen, thanks for the review.
So, I bought this device after your video as well as the new Telcast tablet you also recommended in one of your other videos. Now I'm stuck with something completely useless and unusable due to lack of support for the app that the ipega itself recommends using to set up the controller. What am I doing wrong?

I don't like the arrangement of the right analogue stick at the ipega.
You have to constantly reach around to switch between the buttons and the analogue stick with your thumb. It would be better if the stick was below, or even better diagonally next to the buttons. As is usual with Playstation and X-Box controllers.
In its current form it just feels unwieldy. I hope Ipega or other manufacturers will rethink the design and create a new telescopic controller. Unfortunately there is nothing else on the market. The design of the Gamevice controllers for Ipad is actually okay, but they don't have R3/L3 and they are not available for android tablets. So that's a nogo too.
I agree about the buttons. Who thought that was a good idea, and are they still employed?

I bought the 9083s a few months ago. It's an amazing controller, but I've always been unsure on the looks of it. I like this new 9167 a lot better.
Have you felt any lag or something while playing with games? Or does it has a great latency?
@@ECHF96 I haven't noticed any lag. I use it on a galaxy a6, playing ePSXe and the Grand Theft Auto series for android. I'm planning on getting a decent sized tablet, so this controller seemed good for the price, and works perfectly for my needs.

I've got the Ipega-9063 that I bought on aliexpress for $16 on singles' day, and it works very well. However, it's rather large. I've got big hands, and I even find it hard to reach the shoulder buttons.
How is the dpad ?
@@kkusangi9721 not bad, can't complain. The main inconvenience I found is that in Windows 10, the button layout when connected via bluetooth is not the default one for xbox controllers, and some games do not allow to remap them.
@@asdf-un9gs I heard people saying buttons not give good inputs. Anyways will you recommend it for retro games?
@@kkusangi9721 yes, overall I have not had any problems with the buttons. It's rather large,that's all. If you plan to use it with a phone i stead of a tablet, maybe look after a smaller model.

I dont know of other brands, but stay away from Ipega.
My question: How do the analog sticks compare to the 9023/83? I've used both, and both have giant dead zones on the analog sticks. Have they fixed that with the 9167?
For the price they are good but not like a ps4 or Xbox controller. Can't say if they are better then 9023/83 never tried them but probably a bit better on the dead zones.
You have to remember that the controller is 1/3 of the price of a PS4 controller.
If you want a better controller you can try The Glap or wait for the Razor Kishi but they have a much higher price.
I got mine today, sadly I misread the config of my tablet because this is up to 250 mm... but my tablet is 266. I have no idea what to do with it besides playing DS games
