For those wondering how to pair it to a PC. Make sure your controller is turned off. Plug in to your PC via a USB C cable. Hold the R1 button and the home button simultaneously. You should be connected under X input.
Imo this controller would also be awesome for drones that use apps...

How about deadzones? Like there some software for that. Or you can use the PPSSPP controller setting to test the left analog stick. Or most Smash games walking to running are based on how far you push the analog stick.

hooboy, the color on that thing! I'm glad these types of controllers and their ilk exist and that you cover them, but I think in the end getting a stand of some type and using a 'more normal' controller still feels better, from my experience.

I removed the yellow circle under the analog sticks on my ipega 9167, through a little disassembly. Now the deadzone is much more tolerable, and its able to reach corners effectively, and the analog feels less janky as well.

Can you do more notes on joysticks. Sofar that has been my biggest issue with these controllers.
My thumb sticks came off and I nearly lost one of them twice, they weren't even glued on. I ended up gluing them on myself.

okay i know this vid is old but based on this i purchased one and i gotta say i love it it fits both my note 8 and 10 plus I can use it with almost every game and emulator! @ETA PRIME thank you for making this video i have subbed to in case i need more advice on future purchases!! (also my instruction booklet says 15 hours of playtime haha)
I'd be curious to know the lag on this thing. It looked fine on the video, though I'm still a little skeptical. I have a Red Magic 3S and pairing it with a Dualshock 4 over bluetooth has about a 2 second delay on button presses. Wiring it to a USB hub and then to the RM3S solves this issue. I'm not a huge fan of the XBOne controller so I've steered clear of using that.
I've been waiting to see if they would ever come out with a telescopic controller that has a USB-C connection straight into the phone, but I haven't seen anything like that. If this IPEGA 9167 does the trick on a RM3S, I'll probably grab one.
tbh the DS4 has massive input lag on Android. It's the controller's fault more than anything. I don't know about this one, but I have the FlyDigi Wee 2 and it has 0 lag other than Android's own input lag, which you can shove off with RetroArch and runahead.

I have had this for a few weeks now and got to say it's one of the best controllers I got for android, plus its usb c charging which is good to see. Got for £20 on amazon uk and is still on there for £20 at the moment.

Does it work with Windows tablets with XInput via Bluetooth - can you please try it?
The ipega PG-9083 doesn't - for Windows tablets it just support DInput via Bluetooth or XInput via USB only.
Hey ETA Prime, I picked this up on your recommendation for my Fire HD 10 and it does not seem to fit. Not sure If I am not doing something right. I just realized though you mention the HD 10 you did not show it on it. Could you check that out and let me know if I am making some sort of mistake?
It won't fit the HD 10 in landscape. Only fit in Portrait. Does it match and play well with HD 10 2019?

I have Xcloud, and its official note says only supports Xbox controller, but DS4 support coming.
My standard BT controllers didnt work, but DS4 did from day1.

Hi, what about tablets that have buttons on the side - like volume. I've got an IPEGA 9083, and it presses against the volume controls during gameplay meaning a volume control then appears on the screen (retroarch). ?

Thanks for the review ETA. Almost bought on of these last week but didn't pull the trigger due to lack of reviews and hands on footage. I'll definitely be picking one up soon! Looks perfect... minus the dpad & digital L2 & R2. Still seems to be best available for larger phones. Does it feel solid with the headphone adapter attached?
@MrShawnTRods very good question. Havent been spending lately so i didn't get one of these yet. Also didn't see it covered under specs or questions on amazon. It does say that the analog sticks are tested for rotations and presses so that indicates they are also buttons.. Anyways.. I tried.. hopefully someone that has one can confirm.

So, I bought this device after your video as well as the new Telcast tablet you also recommended in one of your other videos. Now I'm stuck with something completely useless and unusable due to lack of support for the app that the ipega itself recommends using to set up the controller. What am I doing wrong?
I might get this for my Galaxy Tab, thanks ETA PRIME. Is there one that would work on a Surface Pro? My Pro 6 is 29cm but the IPEGA PG-9083S says it maxes at 28cm so might not work and PG-9167 maxes out at 25cm. So is there a controller thats slightly bigger?

I think it's because it is advertised to work on iOS devices. I can't find any listings that don't say iOS on them. There are always ways to make it work, there is a paid jailbreak tweak that lets you do it.
Something I'm not seeing anyone mention is that the analog sticks only have 8 directions to them, so they only have the same precision as the d-pad. It won't matter for a lot of retro games but it's pretty noticeable on games that allow more precision with a ps4/xbox controller.
I wonder how this will affect android shooter like PUBG. Do you have any experience with this?

This finally arrived yesterday. I can get it to pair with both my Amazon Fire HD8 and HD10, but it never connects. It just says "connecting" until the controller powers itself off. It connects to my LG V30 just fine. Any ideas?

Can you test the MOCUTE 050 Android controller? It usually costs around 17$ and it could be nice for small smartphones
I had one of that in the past, it absolutely gets the job done (I finished Hotline miami 1 and 2 in my phone with it), but the analog tends to drift, and the shoulder buttons to be less sensitive. I'd recommend something above that, for a small phone, maybe an Ipega 9021

I've been using my bebencool sth 7007f1 with project Xcloud and GeForce Now.
I use it with Fortnite as well. There was an issue at first, I couldn't move forward but I changed the sensitivity and it works fine.

Actually the right controller detach is fantastic for things like PubG.. Right analog sticks are just not precise in a first person shooter.
Hows the thumb stick quality? I just got original ASUS gamepad for my ROG II and the thumb sticks sucks, they small and not comfortable, also to connect the gamepad you have to do a whole process, remove the phone case, slide the phone into the gamepad case, and then back when you done.

Any options for a tab S7+ ? I was hoping there'd be a controller wide enough to fit but if this is 250mm, definitely won't be enough. I was looking forward to some emulation lap gaming with the s7+ but there are no controllers that can fit it, I might have to consider the s7.

My question: How do the analog sticks compare to the 9023/83? I've used both, and both have giant dead zones on the analog sticks. Have they fixed that with the 9167?
For the price they are good but not like a ps4 or Xbox controller. Can't say if they are better then 9023/83 never tried them but probably a bit better on the dead zones.
You have to remember that the controller is 1/3 of the price of a PS4 controller.
If you want a better controller you can try The Glap or wait for the Razor Kishi but they have a much higher price.
Hi Prime, what do you suggest now for 11" tab? the best telescopic controller.
If you plug this into a PC via USB, does it act as an Xinput controller then? Or only over bluetooth? I've got a Windows 10 tablet might want to get this for, but I'm a bit sensitive to the input lag that bluetooth typically adds.

Not sure anybowill read this after over 2 years, but I had this controller for 8 months and then right side buttons stopped working....I can still use the d pad , the left stick and the left shoulder buttons, but the face buttons, right stick and right shoulder buttons don't work anymore..... is there an easy fix for this?

I just returned the 9083 s, does the joysticks didn't work well. I mean to say input felt jarring and not fluid. It just felt funky compared to a Xbox or PlayStation controller. Like if I want to look up and to the right, I will have a large dead zone for just straight up, and suddenly going Full Tilt right. Does the joystick on this unit seem to function the same way?

Yeah, i do have the fat ipega, it does work, but i wanted to know which tablets were compatible with xCloud, & i can't seem to be able to play any games from Gforce now app, which i signed into and have the games listed. Really baffling to say the least? The fire tab 10.1 (2017) does run it, but i just can't seem to run any games?

The only problem I've found with the ipega series controllers (I have a 9023) is that custom keymapping apps are rubbish. It was recommended that the V3 shooting plus app on Google Play be used with it, but I've found that the save/bind function is sometimes very sketchy and won't bind custom keymap to the device/app very well, I've looked at just about every other app available and they're also woefully inadequate. I have had, on occasion, to uninstall it and forget the device, re-install the app and re-remember the pad in my BT devices.
I'm also not a fan of the offset stick configuration you find in some pad peripherals, ie left high and right low. It makes the pad feel unbalanced imo and doesn't make the whole gaming experience feel easy to use or very natural in the hand.

Hi. I bought one. In the instructions Ipega said that the gamepad is fully charged when the orange led is off and is charging when orange led is always on. Mine when charging orange led flashes and when fully charged orange led is always on. Is this correct ? Thanks.

I bought the 9083s a few months ago. It's an amazing controller, but I've always been unsure on the looks of it. I like this new 9167 a lot better.
Have you felt any lag or something while playing with games? Or does it has a great latency?
@@ECHF96 I haven't noticed any lag. I use it on a galaxy a6, playing ePSXe and the Grand Theft Auto series for android. I'm planning on getting a decent sized tablet, so this controller seemed good for the price, and works perfectly for my needs.

I dont know of other brands, but stay away from Ipega.
How bad are the deadzones on this controller? I keep seeing reviews saying that they make many fps games harder to play.
I have this, and the deadzone is brutal. Using a Tester app you have to really move the analog stick before it registers. I had high hopes for this controller.

I have an Ipega 9023 which works just fine and is great for tablets but is just too big for my phone (Huawei Mate 20 Pro). I tried the Ipega 9087s but it was just too small and fell to bits as soon as it was out of the box. I hope thata this device could fit into that middle ground where it doesn't look too huge for a regular phone.

Hi Eta Prime, does the Ipega 9167 fit the new Galaxy Tab S8? The Ipega goes 250mm wide. The Tab S8 is 253,5mm wide. Just wondering if the is any extra stretch so the Ipega can connect to this new tablet?

Did you get this working with any Mediatek based phones/tablets? Upgraded my wife's Lenovo M10 2020 to something nicer, so I was thinking about gaming on the M10. I've read there are some issues with Mediatek compatibility.

Hi eta prime. I just bought a 9167 to use with android and have just spent hours trying to get it to work with a tab s4. Did you install an app to set up the gamepad? Whether I try to pair it in v3 mode or android mode it just won't work. The gamepad pairs but the buttons just don't work. Not impressed with this and searching on Google seems other people having issues too
