No, he didn't cover it in the video but you can use this controller with a phone case. The different rubber pads in the box allow you find the most comfortable fitting to you phone with cases (there are only 3 options though).
I wish one of these controllers with pass through would work with your phone when it was in a otterbox style case. the usb-c port never goes in far enough with my phone in a case.
Something that is never mentioned with these kind of controllers is that the sticks are WAY too vertical with the buttons and the D pad, classic controllers have the sticks more on the sides, but with these, using the sticks become uncomfortable pretty soon.
$150 and just passthrough charging still??? It would be decent if the controller had a hub built into it so you could do usb c charging and also display ult. If it had that setup it would be great with some AR glasses.
ETA Prime, for me, the disk d-pad is the way to go. When I saw it at the beginning of the video, I was pretty excited, since I grew up with the genesis controller. 8bitdo's m30 for xbox is probably one of the best controllers for fighting games, IMO - it pays a lot of homage to the Sega Saturn controller. I hope you find a way to get used to it - but then, if the actual inputs of it are horrible... I think that's a different story.

I wish someone would make an Android handheld with a 7-8-inch screen, full-sized controllers, a powerful enough chipset to run everything in the Appstore. That would be the definitive mobile-gaming experience. They don't even have to go all out. Something with a previous-gen snapdragon 8 gen chipset and 8gb of ram would work well while keeping cost down. The AYN Odin 2 is amazing example of this, but it uses a smaller screen. We're so close yet so far from a definitive mobile-gaming device. If we can stay around the $300 price point for a true definitive mobile-gaming device, that would be a great buy and have amazing battery life because of the ARM chipset.
Why do they bother, people use 11inch tablets with blutooth, those the most commonly available there is no discernable lag with Bluetooth on modern devices. If they wanted to make a control a simply 1 fits everything would be easy. Two split controller with magnetic backs that stick to every single device no matter what size on the planet.
