Yes, I designed the three Work Feature pull-downs to emulate the UI for the users still late in migrating from MDT to INV.
It was something that the PM’s wanted to help increase their productivity. So that’s why they’re in the program still.

I have to say I have seen a lot of your videos and they are amazing and very helpful. Although I must say that this one is missing one side of plane creation which I was actually trying to find:
Plans in assembly mode!!!
I was trying to create a couple of planes in an assembly, based on a sketch created on the assembly root, using adaptivity from a part derived in the assembly. If that make sense at all...
Looks like I cant use assembly sketches to make planes...
I know you cant answer to everyone and you are a bit more focused on the hardware nowadays but it would be nice to know if there's a way of doing this? Is there some workaround to this?

I need to create a work plane, on a funnel. I really struggle, as I can only press the "inside" of the funnel plane, and then no other point is available (no I am not using one of the "special" plane tools. Hope you can help :)
Ok, so I have literally used 4 hours trying to figure out how I make the work plane. Since the "funnel" had no edges etc, i had to make work points and axis to get the correct work plane angled and lined at the correct place on the circle. At least now I figured it out (just after I posted a comment). Again thank you for all videos.
Hej, Thank you for your wonderful tutorial on title blocks and borders. Tried creating a new border and want to keep a copyright text just outside the border. Managed it constrained it. However, when using the border in a new drawing and when I update the sheet size the copyright text is not stretched over the full length of the sheet. How to make the copyright text scalable with sheet size so that it is clearly readable size. How to acheive this.
That workplane you put on the end og the arc, would you be able to offset that workplane along the arc?
Iam modelling a curved railing and trying to figure out the best way to make sure the spacing between supports are excact. Best regards

I always come to this channel when I need a tutorial. I did learn from a few things from this. Do you have a tutorial on getting work planbes into iParts/iAssemblies. I checked those videos and didn't see anything. I'm going blind trying to put together an Assembly/iAssembly of a concrete footing conatinging anchor bolt/cages, the round concrete pier, rebar, etc by picking the parameters. I there a "next level" video I'm missing? Thanks in advance.

Have you done a video on creating holes through a shaft which not only pitches down shaft but also each hole is rotated through an angle to previous hole? struggling to work out how to do it.

Question: I create a sketch in assembly, draw a line, finish sketch and I can't create work features (planes, axises, points) based on that line from sketch. Eveyrything works fine in part, but it don't works in assembly. Why?
This was certainly an interesting video to watch for homework. It feels wrong to have a homemade Inventor tutorial with quality capture and audio, I almost feel cheated.

I'm trying to thread a steel cable through an assembly(boatlift) the ends are anchored on both ends but the cable needs to go over 1 pulley and then under a second pulley to lift the assembly up and down. Basically like a car hoist but in this case it's a boat. Any help????

+Marcus Friesl I use Xsplit, which is meant for gaming streaming but it has a pretty solid and reliable local recording facility so I just went with that!
+TFI CAD Tips Great Quality. We work alot inside assemblies, and project elements from one part to another. We sometimes have issues with those projections being adaptive, in some cases. Would you ever considering doing an in depth video on the adaptive setting for within parts, etc... Thanks for doing these.
+Marcus Friesl I've already done an adaptivity video, but I wouldn't really class it as being in depth. It's a difficult one to cover all bases as the problems you've had could be unique to the geometry you had at the time, meaning I could talk for hours about adaptivity and not reference the situation you experienced. One alternative to projections is detailed in this video th-cam.com/video/LP4ArppuXno/w-d-xo.html but again it depends entirely on what you're doing, but take a look at this one and see if it helps?

Great video as always, but I wanted to ask. Would you say that when or if the user is planning on building an assembly of 100, 1000 plus components, would it be best or safer to use origin data when relying on planes, axis, etc in said assembly?.
Its safer to use origin planes for assembly constraints yes, but sometimes they aren't sufficient and additional planes need to be made there's no avoiding it!

So i know i'm commenting on a 3 year old video, but i had a question.... Is there a simple way to create a work plane based upon an axis and a point in space that i don't know about? For instance, doing tube work, i want to grab the axis of a tube, and a point from a sketch on the end of the tube or possibly another sketch somewhere and create a plane based on that. Unless i am missing something, it doesn't seem possible even though I would think it should be. As i do it now, i have to create either work points on that axis, or an extra sketch to create a 3 point plane. Do you have any advice?
Try to see soft design , composing and setuping as three seperate tNice tutorialngs to focus on and it might will make more sense

Have such an annoying issue. I have created a rudder for a yacht, went into assembly to place the rudder at an angle, then went to mirror this to create a twinned rudder yacht, and the preview comes up in green, then I click OK for the mirror and then it takes me all the way back to the single rudder in the original position I created it in. No idea what I'm doing wrong. It's times like this where I may as well be scratching my balls for hours.
