      Always love the playing paul, and seriously considering this product after my dt25 has had technical issues for the 2nd time this year. Had a question though would be nice if you could answer this. Can i connect this with a laptop/pc, and listen to what i play without much input lag? or the other way around, wanting to play along with songs, send the audio to the helix lt, and hear it through the headphone output?

    • @paulhindmarshmusic
      @paulhindmarshmusic 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Absolutely. Connect it with USB and it will become your sound card. Or just use audio cables. Lots of ways to do it.

    Great demo! I'm a Helix owner, and after over a year, I'm still loving the thing. I use it with tube amps, and a stand alone unit, to record, live, with acoustic, bass etc. It's a game changer. This video made me laugh, because it's so fun to tweak it that everyone wants to fiddle with it. Great stuff!

    I'm honestly tempted to sell my entire pedalboard for a Helix LT. I only have a Pedaltrain Jr sized board, although it's mostly stocked with boutiquey-range pedals. I could feasibly sell it all and it would easily cover the entire cost of the LT. The only thing that's putting me off is the hassle of having to sell everything. What an amazing piece of kit the LT is.
    My obsession with pedals is honestly detrimental to my development as a better guitar player. I saw a comment elsewhere that captured it perfectly, to paraphrase: "I'm getting the focus on my hands and off my feet." I should just get the LT and be done with the endless tone chasing.

    • @savanaviolenta
      @savanaviolenta 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      And by doing that it will be the biggest downgrade you will experience with your gear.Youve already come to make your own unique sounding boutique pedals ,you've reached the level where you've cerastes your tone and now you're gonna go and sell all these lovely pedals only to get a digital emulation if the same pedals just for the convenience of everything under one hood,compromising the most important TONE???I wouldn't do that.If you dont want a signature unique tone go grab the Helix LT ,but I think soon you will regret it,maybe not.My two cents.

      @@savanaviolenta Most people can't tell the difference anymore. I'd be willing to bet you couldn't either. Its been proven time and again with a Helix or Kemper or AxeFx. Blind tests where players always think the the digital is the real thing.

    • @ghost79ish
      @ghost79ish 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would recommend holding onto the real gems in your pedal board. I've always been into multieffects units and amp modeling... It works great for me but it's definitely not for everyone. Not to mention you can get the best of both worlds if you're able to hold onto your tube amp and pedals. There are some truly amazing things you can do if you combine the two approaches.

    • @factsmatter3941
      @factsmatter3941 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      People rely too much on their massive pedal boards. When practice and talent comes secondary, yeah, you’re probably over-reliant on the pedals. Josh from the chili peppers is a good example... it’s just too damn much in fact, I’d argue that the tone you lose in overall line length, almost makes it not worth it... depending on how many you’re talking about. There’s just something cringey about seeing a guitarist who’s mediocre with almost 10k worth of shit... seemingly tripping over hisself to get 10 different variations of that ‘slightly dirty’ tone of which no one else can tell a difference anyway. You’re on the right track imo.. get back to basics.

    • @joseceraia
      @joseceraia 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@savanaviolenta One big problem, if Helix fails, everything fails. With an amp and pedalboard, the amp can fail, but having a spare one in the car will save you on a gig for example.
      Iow: Keeping your amp and pedalboard is always the safest solution and the Helix as an extra.

    I had chosen the Helix route a year ago and haven't looked back. Yes, the Kemper and the Axe-Fx II are phenomenal choices, nothing bad with either of those options. I chose the Helix and even still today I am finding little things you can do and it's just a pleasure to sit with your guitar and tone chase. I also went with the Blug Amp One amplifier that sits on the board with the Helix. It has a foot control board for it as well, and it is on the board as well. Then I run it into an EVH 2x12 cab. That is it. And the tonal options between the Helix, the Blug and it's own controller is limitless. And I can still use individual pedals if I like, I just run them through the Blug effects loop, so your favorite pedals can be incorporated if you choose. But once you discover all the flavors in the Helix, the stompboxes don't get used too often.

    Hello. Does the trail effect continue when you change from preset to preset? Because this has always been the problem with the multi-effects before. Like line 6 m13, when I'm on scene mode, whenever I change from one scene to another scene, the delay trail cuts off.. And that's to my ears when it's abrupt to hear.

I've had a quite a few Line 6 products in the past, I've played with a lot of people who have used them in loads of different ways but I've never been sold on the "lets get rid of everything" in a live mix. Can we have a video of this being used at an ACTUAL gig. Its all well and good saying how good it is (and I know this is supposed to be a different beast) but I would need to see how it can sit in an actual live mix amongst all the other instruments....

    Can anybody tell me if i can insert my analog preamp in the eff loop of the Helix and then route it to the emulated poweramp only? Or can i only use an external stompbox distortion and run it in front of an emulated amp? I basically want to use my preamp with Helix and wonder if there is any chance to do it in a proper way, meaning not feeding it straight to IR block, but using the poweramp somehow.

    Does anyone have a recommendation of a lower price braket PA speaker to pair with the Helix? Say as something for an electric guitar > Helix > PA with a singer running to the PA as well?

    Guys, I have tried a helix out several times with no luck in getting the thing to sound anything but harsh, grainy od/distortion. Strings all muddle together on chords. Any experience with this

    Steve Howe of YES uses a Line 6 Helix pedal board! Fun review Capt. & Paul.

    Hi guys. First up. I love the vids. I watched many. I’m just about to upgrade from HD500X to Pod Go. The clean sound at the beginning of this video I absolutely LOVE. It sounds “Alive” and really bright. Can the Pod Go actually get close to that, given you’re NOT using the amp/cabs from the Pod Go?

    one slight feature i wished to be added.. i hope we can make our signal in the display look from right to left like our analog effects chain. it's not a big deal actually, for i am a pod hd500 user.. but in a way it makes it feel or look organic.. especially for people who are purist trying out multi. :)
